Introduction
Networking using the computer can be done with the help of the computing devices that
has the interconnection for exchanging and sharing of the data and information along with the
resources. There are several networked devices uses the communication protocols for
transmitting the data with the help of wireless and physical technologies. Taking about cloud
computing, then it refers to the availability of the several types of resources as per the demands
of the user. Such resources are related to the computer systems such as storage of the data and
also the computing power but there is no involvement of the direct active management of the
user. Clouds are large in number that contains the distributed functions through multiple
locations and each of the locations contains the data centre. Therefore, it is generally involved in
the delivery of the hosted services with the help of internet. Services which are provided by the
cloud has classification on the basis of infrastructure and platform along with the software as a
service. Networking using cloud is defined as the form of information technology infrastructure.
It provides the capabilities to the organizations in order to network the resources which are
hosted through various platforms either private or public cloud. It has usually the management of
service provider or in house on demand availability (Stergiou, Plageras, Psannis and Gupta,
2020). Therefore, the pursuing discussion is supported on the exploring of the domain of
computer networks which has shifted towards a greater accent on software while specifically
focusing on the cloud computing.
How the shift towards cloud computing has impacted the industry?
There are several organisations who has shifted their focus towards the services of cloud
computing technologies and they are benefited with this and also has gained the positive impact
on their performance.
 Organizations has saved their cost and extra expenses on the manual management which
also requires the large human resources. Cloud computing do not need extra cost and also
the human resources, they helps the companies in the cost efficient manner by simply
automating the tasks. It is also considered as the time efficient tool as well.
 Without using cloud computing, if companies saves their data the it can have the greater
chances to get hacked and also the losses of data without any back ups and recovery.

After shifting towards the cloud computing, now the organizations are more secure from
any breaches or losses of data.
 Organizations has also gained the flexibility in terms of time because cloud computing
services can be accessed at any time without any restrictions on the time durations and it
can be any time either morning, afternoon, evening, night or mid night. It facilitates with
the flexibility of time which is considered as one of the major reason of shifting towards
the cloud computing (Torquato and Vieira, 2020).
 Organization has the major positive impact of mobility. This is because now a days many
organizations are working on the remote basis. Therefore, it is important to access the
cloud services from any where having the proper internet connectivity. It has supported in
the easy remote working from any where and any time that made the functioning more
convenient for the firms.
 Organisations has gained the positive impact of increment of collaboration because cloud
computing helps in integrating the different activities which further support sin the
collaboration with the stakeholders who have the access to the data and services provided
by the cloud. This improves the communication flow among the different in the
organizations.
 Companies can now maintain the quality of the computing resources and the services
provided to the customers. The reason being is that cloud supports in the maintenance of
the quality of the data by simply deleting the repeated records and controlling the
replication as well (Maruping and Matook, 2020).
 Firms have benefited with the disaster recovery feature of the cloud computing services.
This is because if hacker tries to hacks the data which results in the losses, then the cloud
aids the firm in recovering up the data and preventing from disaster if the user has backed
up the data in a timely manner.
 Cloud assist in the prevention from losses of important and private information by
providing the tight security to the computing resources which are stored on cloud. Such
prevention are from the cyber attacks and frauds which are common now a days such as
stealing personal credentials and financial information.
 Cloud supports the companies in automated updates of the software and information
which is stored on cloud for strong safety and security concerns. It provides easy

functioning and operations in the company in the quick manner which also renders
accuracy as well.
 Organizations has gained the enhanced competitive advantages as compared to the
previous times because cloud has come up with the several IT solutions which helps in
gaining the improved competitive edge in the form of innovation and modified business
processes (Ruffini and Slyne, 2019).
How the job role of network professionals has evolved to meet the technical
challenges of the cloud?
Cloud computing has various technical challenges which are generally faced by the
organizations at the time of implementation or using it.
 Some of the challenges includes are the data security and privacy along with the issues in
cost management and multi cloud environments as well.
 Moreover, there are also the performance challenges and also the interoperability
problems as well.
 Other challenges includes that there is the high dependence on the network which highly
requires the knowledge and expert to manage which are lacking.
 Furthermore, password security and also the internet connectivity are the challenges of
cloud which is followed by the issues of control and governance in creating the private or
hybrid complications of cloud also (Marinescu, 2022).
There are many network professionals involved who contribute with their roles and
responsibilities in evolving the solutions in order to meet the technical challenges of cloud
computing.
 Such roles and responsibilities includes the maintenance of the computer networks that
contains the routers and mainframes along with the virtual private networks and physical
hardware devices as well.
 Some of the roles also includes the installation and configuration of the network
equipment as well.
 Moreover, responsibilities includes the frequent updates of the anti virus systems and
formulating the firewall in order to protect the data and encrypt the communication using
data security systems.

 There are people who are involved in such process and duties of network professionals
has the post and profile in the organization named as the network engineer and security
engineer (Hsu, Yang, Chung and Hsu, 2020).
There are several job roles of the network professionals which specifically focuses on the
resolving of the cloud challenges while using their knowledge and experiences.
 Expertise is responsible in sustaining the essential information simply by monitoring the
networking activities and also by maintaining the already existing equipment.
 Professionals are accountable for the maintenance of the company phone so that lines
cam be active while providing services to the company.
 Professionals has the roles to respond on the network connectivity issues which resolves
the issues of wireless connections as well.
 Expertise is also accountable for maintaining the network in a manual manner which also
submits all the modifications summary to the organizations.
 Network professional is responsible to collaborate with the third party vendors so that in
order to prevent any network glitches (Carnevale, Celesti, Galletta and Villari, 2019).
There are several solutions which can be adopted by the organizations itself in order to
protect their resources from the cloud risks and are generally performed by the network
expertise.
 Organisation must formulate the policy of strong password management which includes
the multi factor authentication along with the installation of security systems and updates
of it as well.
 Company must adopt the techniques of encryption and decryption along with the
authorization and authentication methods and also the access control as well.
How RESTful Web Services have been used to facilitate these changes?
Cloud computing has evolved with various changes that are facilitated by the RESTful
web services. Such changes involves the current and future trends of the cloud computing
services.
 Some of the trends are the organizations can now use the opportunities given by the cloud
services such as multi cloud and hybrid solutions with advanced features of disaster
recovery and back ups.

 Other changes includes the provision of artificial intelligence platforms and server less
architecture with advanced cloud security and platforms for internet of things as well.
 Edge computing and open source services along with the service mesh are also the future
trends or changes provided by the cloud computing technology.
 There are some of the changes which are also associated with the data storage expansion
and its capacities and also the kubernetes as well.
 Automated cloud orchestration and development of SASE adoption and its optimization
with proper cloud management in a strategic manner are also the positive changes of
cloud technology (Usman, Ismail, Abdul-Salaam and Dishing, 2019).
RESTful web services is referred as the web services which is based on the REST
architecture. It basically stands for Representational State Transfer. It is a type of software that is
in the form of architectural style is evoluted for the guidance of the design and the development
of the architecture as well over the world wide web. It includes the different constraints sets that
specifies the ways of behaviour that internet scale can distribute the hypermedia system
architecture with the help of web. Architecture of the web has everything in the form of
resources and are light weighted. It has the feature of scalability while providing the proper
maintenance that is used to formulate the API's specially for the web based applications
(Srinivasan, Mubarakali, Alqahtani and Dinesh Kumar, 2019). There are several conditions on
which such services are used such as the situation of limited bandwidth and resources and
requirements of easy coding and also the cache management as well.
RESTful Web Services have been used to facilitate the above mentioned changes in
cloud computing technology.
 It supports in the simple integration with the computing devices while using the hypertext
transfer protocol which further helps in the provision of the scalability and independence
uniform interface along with the layered systems also.
 It also facilitates with the flexibility and portability features that is easy to adapt and
build.
 It assist in the efficient use of the resources which formulates the process instances in an
explicit manner.
 Client does nit require any information regrading the routing while using the initial
uniform resource identifier.

 It also aids while providing the generic listener interface in order to rendering the
notifications for the user. This is the reason that why the RESTful Web Services is used
to facilitate such changes in cloud networking services (Jia, Komeily, Wang and
Srinivasan, 2019).
Why software defined networking has become so heavily adapted by industry,
despite meaning an adaptation to the job role of network engineers?
Software defined networking is referred as the approach which provides technology in
order to manage the network that further assist in the configuration of the network in an effective
and efficient manner programmatically and dynamically. It is a type of software which enhances
and supports the performance of the network in order to monitor the entire systems and
resources. It is similar to the cloud computing technology but not to traditional network
management. This is a software which consist three layers in its architecture. First layer is of the
application which runs the services over the internet or the networks. Second layer is of the
control which controls the network and the brains of the network as well. Third layer is of the
infrastructure which includes the physical hardware and switches along with the routers as well
(Alenezi, Atlam and Wills, 2019).
Software-defined networking has become so heavily adapted by the industry because of
various reasons and benefits provided by it.
 It helps the organizations by providing the benefits of quick operations in an accurate
manner.
 It also provides greater reliability due to the automation facilities are involved in it.
 It is the software which renders efficiency in the management of network if it is
compared with other technologies of networking which was adopted by the companies at
the earlier basis.
 This software provides the efficiency in cost specially in terms of installation and
maintenance which requires low cost and high savings and for the updates as well.
 Software provides the automation which helps in faster scalability with the combination
of the additional visibility which helps in the seamless and quick operations.
 Software has the good delivery of content which is having the low expenditure of capital
and also the centralisation that further helps in an appropriate operations and management
of the firm (Solanki and Nayyar, 2019).

 The reason behind every company is adopting this software is the benefit of cost
reduction as it also reduces the overhead costs of the entire usage of the system.
 Software has differentiation in its virtual and physical management of networking which
avoids confusion during the installation and updating time of the software.
 Software manages the forwarding of virtual packet that supports in the transmission of
data in an effortless manner which is easy for the administration for the virtual
networking at the time of having the strong access to the network.
 Software aids with the less down time and an appropriate isolation and control of the
traffic facility which is assisted to the industry.
 This is a software which is easy to understand and use as it has the capabilities to find out
the solutions at the time of development of any of the applications using the behaviour
control traffic in the network.
 It is the software which has one of the major advantages that has influenced the industries
to shift towards this software is the central management of networks. It has the ability to
deliver the requirements of networking as a one product which further enables in
controlling the every piece of networks by the user in the firm (El-Haddadeh, 2020).
Why standards, such as json and REST have been selected and utilised?
Specifically consider interoperability.
Network interoperability is referred as the network capabilities of sending and receiving
the data among several interconnected networks that renders the level of quality which is
expected by the user. Json is referred as the open standard file format that assist in interchanging
of the format of the data which is further used by the humans in its readable text for storing and
transmission of data object which generally consist arrays and value pairs. It is selected and
utilised because it is self describing in nature which is written in the form of simple text that is
easy to learn and understand (Bellavista, Berrocal, Corradi and Zanni, 2019). REST is selected
and utilised as it provides better flexibility and easy way of coding and also the cache
management. It further helps in managing of the complicated applications while using the
hypertext transfer protocol for retrieving the information and availing the access to the data
models.
