INTRODUCTION
Collaboration consists of the tools which are used by the companies wherein groups of

people work together to achieve the common target of the organisation effectively and efficiently
and it helps the company to increase their productivity and build effective standards of team work
which helps in boosting the productivity of both employees and the company. This report will go
into detail regarding the way in which modern technological changes have impacted communication
design and corporate workplaces in order to determine whether collaboration drives workplace
performance or not and the report will also list two major projects which are helping shape up the
field of collaborative work in business (Chansukree, and et.al, 2022).
MAIN BODY
The effects that the growth of technology and the change in the way life is led which has
swung towards digital more than physical due to the advent of the internet, communication design
and media have been changed drastically. The growth of open channels of media communication
has been one of the most drastic changes which has been noticed in the current business landscape
as brands have to be very careful reading the type of message they communicate and design for
their intended audience because even a slight bit of carelessness on the part of the marketing
department can cause a massive blowback with serious repercussions. This is partly due to the fact
that the global audience which are consumers of media have become much more responsive and
active and even though growth of users and technologies in the digital space has given routes of
success to many businesses, the disruptions which occur both internally and externally have also
increased which is why the need for collaboration is very high even in established corporate
workplaces (Naim & Bulinska-Stangrecka, 2019).

These rapid changes in the external environment of firms have changed the way work is
done in high profile work spheres, especially in the field of design wherein the importance of
collaboration has increased a huge degree and is here to stay. Some examples as to why seamless
transition and combined teamwork results in great user experiences and superior products comes
from analysing the UX of applications such as Uber which is built to provide extreme luxury and
convenience to the customer in regards to the service being procured. Possessing such advanced UX
interfaces and communication design philosophies cannot be the work of a single employee
working solitude which is a major change in workplaces as such advanced business operations are a
result based on collaboration between talented employees who lend their varied experience in
separate domains to achieve one collective outcome whose result is much more satisfactory
compared to solo work and discovery which was the prized asset of traditional workplaces.

One of the major and foremost reasons as to why collaboration has effectively changed the
way communication design takes place in corporate work culture and media can be understood from
the fact that in creation of a simple advertisement which is basically the work of business
communication experts in the company is equally integrated with the department of finance which
allocates the budget required for the advertisement along with the people in operations and design
department which are responsible for developing and streamlining the advert and such tasks are
only completed through business and employee collaboration. Creativity which comes out of a
single person's mind is no longer the focal point of any business strategy as thorough approval is
needed at every stage of the senior management and a detailed feasibility analysis is also conducted
due to the complexity developed by advancement of technologies in the external environment.
When it comes to working in modern day workplaces, traditional methods of working alone
and submitting individual work can no longer make one's position and productivity reach the level
of desired output as according to studies, there is clear proof that collaboration can drive workplace
performances (Mohezar, and et.al, 2021). It has been proven by researches and surveys taken by
institutes such as Harvard that if workplaces are treated as social and collaborative affairs then it
leads to supercharged performances by employees with has been collectively associated with a lot
of fatigue and low motivation to carry on working which has often been reported by people who
work solo. The new found importance of workplace collaboration has also resulted in firms
integrating advanced technologies in their operational framework such as cloud which has seen
great usage and adoption rates globally. Another major way in which collaboration has changed the
way communication deign and working in a professional environment is done is that it has also
changed the way people converse with one another as the type has shifted from digital to physical
with designers and employees being encouraged to collaborate in an online space which makes
them productive.

One of the examples that will be studied in this essay regarding this line of thought will be
the development of BERG cloud which is a developed tailored platform developed by London
based company, BERG which offers the same tools and technical collaborative tools to all potential
businesses and other developers out there to engage in effective collaboration. BERG cloud was
developed as a collaborative tool which could not only help BERG design their own products but to
also help conduct workplace collaboration in a digital workplace by empowering other people.
BERG cloud helps people be productive by going digital in terms of their work profiles,
inventiveness and sharing their work with other people which allows continuous development to
occur (Babu & Prasad, 2021).

These reasons are major drivers behind the stellar growth of collaborative technologies such
as cloud systems being used heavily by modern businesses and such integrations have proven
positive effects on performance of employees by allowing them to collaborate in a digital space
where intelligent conversations are facilitated through shared learning. Some theories of human
resource management and organizational operations also highlight that employees work in a much
better way when they are treated as a group and there is existence of cooperative and collaborative
culture in the company such as the theory of employee relations which states that employees values
their social roles within groups much more than the financial aspects of their jobs. This is also a
major reason as to why collaboration is a driver of performance in businesses because it is a fact
that the objectives which are setup by the company are achieved in a more effective manner when
there are multiple people which are operating at them at the same time.

In collaboration, individuals work together for a common goal, it has two forms one is
where everyone meet through video calls or message, it is known as synchronous and other is
asynchronous when people interact with each other at different timings. It is helpful for the overall
growth of the business and focuses on keeping together individuals of different ideas and thoughts
for achieving a common objective. Collaboration encourages people to focus more on their
individual responsibility and helps in developing their skills. It enables individuals to get involved
in all the decision making activities and express their ideas for the team work. Individual become
more adaptable as they have to work according the requirements of the team (Miller & Katz, 2018).
Zoho is an Indian multinational technological company that deals in making web based tools
and is best known for its Zoho office suite which allows the people from different country to work
together. For operating Zoho one doesn't need to have the knowledge of IT, as it is very easy to
operate. There are various applications which Zoho provides to its user such as invoicing, project
management, CRM, mail, etc. Transfer of important files can easily be done with the help of zoho
CRM and it automatically transfer files to the modules once the data is updated in the needed
format. It provides complete security to the data and easily accessible through mobile phone. It
helps small business in taking decision by providing facts and extracting relevant data for the
companies (Liu, and et.al, 2020). Zoho software can easily available on every online platform such
social media, live chats, etc. and provide low price plans with free trial feature. It change various
activities within your business progress by causing fast actions and allows you to measure your
overall performance, it also converts your potential leads for getting the complete information of
expected clients. Zoho CRM has its own assistant Zia which helps the business in managing its
data, exploring the important information, and expecting the future sales, it also helps in evaluating
day to day actions to acknowledge patterns for improving the performance. CRM also provides you
the feature of customization which suitable for any business, in this it enables you to develop the
layouts and uses modules to present the information as per the requirements. It helps in distributing
you customers, by using techniques to get the potential leads and work in improving the website to
exceed the sales.

The researches which have been done in the field of business collaboration have also
revealed that employees prefer collaborative workspaces much more than those where they are
encouraged to work in a solo manner and design as a field has become much more digitally inclined
over the recent years as the advent of smart systems and automated applications have put out most
of the complex work out of human hands and transferred over to the machines (Andrews, 2018).
There are also numerous instances which have recorded and associated collaboration with higher
levels of productivity because the process of knowledge transfer and management is also directly
related to collaboration. By making people from different backgrounds and specialization work
together, it leads to knowledge generation and transfer which has a major impact on the firm's
efficiency.
CONCLUSION
The above report went into detail regarding the various complex processes involved in the
field of business communication and communication design with special focus paid on
collaborative work which is the need of the hour in the field of design and business. The report
focused on the various reasons and factors in which collaborative working is much better suited to
address the needs of the modern businesses with key discussion of two projects, Zoho which is a
multinational adopted and used collaborative tool and BERG cloud, which is an open system cloud

platform developed for collaboration. It was concluded from this report that collaboration is a must
have process to ensue tasks get established in proper manner and it is indeed a major driver of
workplace performance.
