The main objective of the article is to discuss about the contract cheating and its monitory
value. The monitory benefits are measured on the basis of all the parties associated with the
contract cheating.
This paper has used the data regarding 14438 of cheating cases those were happened in
between March 2005 to July 2012.
The main scope of the research is to understand the role of different participants and the
online agencies which are helping the students to cheat.
However, this paper does not discuss about the prevention methods and techniques of
contract cheating. The paper concludes that the detection of the contract cheating is becoming
difficult and there is a need for the improvement of the techniques to detect the contract cheating.
The article has not covered all my questions regarding this topic. However, I think this
article has provided with some useful information those have helped me to get familiar with the
concept of contract cheating and the way of its working.
Critical Appraisal
The context regarding the discussion about the ‘Contract Cheating” four articles has
been selected. The articles have discussed about the different aspects of the contract
cheating. Some of these attributes are Plagiarism, Contract cheating, Assessment
making, Academic Integrity.
All the four articles have discussed about the negative and the
growing tendencies of contract cheating. However, each of the paper has
different aspect towards the discussion. The paper named Commercial

Aspects of Contract Cheating” is focused about the monitory aspect of this act (Clarke and
Lancaster 2013). It also includes the roles of different online agencies and other sources which
are helping the students in contract cheating. The detection technology has been described briefly
in this paper. However, the authors of the paper conclude that the detection process is difficult
and techniques for detection is needed to be improvised.
In the article named “A legal approach to tackling contract cheating?” deals with the
laws and regulation of this unethical practice. The main aim of this paper is to find out if there
any legal step can be followed to prevent this type of act (Draper and Newton 2017). The authors
of this paper has found out that may be some legal steps can be taken in the UK and US law
against this practice. However, the approach is needed to be guided in a proper way.
The possibility of detection of the contract cheating is discussed in the article Can
markers detect contract cheating? Results from a pilot study”. The approach of this paper is
analytical (Dawson and Sutherland-Smith 2018). Different analysis have been followed to
understand the nature of contract cheated paper. The author have made the conclusion that
contract cheating is detectable however, certain discipline is needed to be maintained in this
course.
“Turnaround time and market capacity in contract cheating” deals with the discussion
about the prevention of the contract cheating (Clarke and Lancaster July). In order to do this the
paper has used the turnover time for the contract cheating. The author of the paper is hopeful that
this detection technique will be helpful for the prevention o this problem.
