INTRODUCTION
Commonwealth games is termed to be an event that engages one for the amusement or
fun. It is organised internationally which involves multi sports such as athletes, hockey, table
tennis etc. These are the worlds third largest multi sports event organised after the event of the
Olympics games. The event of commonwealth were organised with the purpose of promoting the
democracy, literacy, human rights, better governance, free trade and world peace. The main aim
behind the event of the commonwealth games is to unite the family through the help of sports. In
this present project the areas where the emphasis is given is on the background and main reason
behind the arrangement of this event and its impact on the stability of the economy. The report
will also cover the study about the financial, social and environmental perspective.
Background and Operations:
The event of Commonwealth games were known as British Empire games during the
time of 1930 and than later on termed as the Common Wealth Games. This event is held within
every four year in different different nations. These games are organised under the federation
who are responsible for guiding and controlling the activities within the Common wealth games.
As the event is held at every four year, during the year 2018 the event was organised in a
systematic manner by the gold Coast. The time period of the game was from 4th April to 15th
April in Australia. This was the fifth time when Australia hosted this event. The games consists
of the 19 sports considering Badminton, hockey, Boxing etc. At that time the federation of the
Commonwealth considered 6600 athletes, including 300 para-athletes. This was the first time
where the event was successful in managing the number of games and events equal for men and
women. During the year of the 2018 the event gain more success and was held in the best
manner as all the functions starting from the opening ceremony to the closing ceremony was
performed in the planned manner with proper estimated budget(Gray and Porter, 2015).
The main purpose behind hosting this event is to bring economic stability by the
promotion of the democracy, literacy, human rights, free trade and world peace. Organising an
event has also provide certain benefits to the host nation such as this will support the host nation
to raise their prestige among other nation and will also supports them in improving their
economy's infrastructure and earning as hosting an event will lead to increase amount of tourism
through which the earning of foreign currency can also be done. This will also increase the

earning in millions as by organising this event the activity of selling of tickets will be performed
through which the nation can earn more in millions. This will also helps the host country to
understand the diverse culture of the different countries. Through this the opportunity for the job
within the nation can also be increased due to which the economy can achieve a sustainable
position(Kramer, 2015).
The main operational considerations in hosting this event:
During the hosting of event many operation considerations were kept into the mind so
that the event can be managed successfully these considerations were as mentioned below :
Get started : In this the functions that is to be carried out while hosting an event is
written down in detailed manner so that while performing and hosting the event the
mismanagement of the certain thing can be reduced.
Select dates and venues : This involves the selection of the date and venues which are
favourable for the event of the sports. After selecting the right time and venue the event of the
sports are organised.
Establish a budget : An estimation of the budget is prepared so that the idea can be
gathered how much an event will cost to the organiser . Costs may be related to the venue
selection arrangement of the foods etc.
Inviting of the guests : Here the decisions are taken about how the event will be host and
who will be the guests at the opening ceremony of the event of Commonwealth games(Jarvie,
2017).
Starts selling tickets : After deciding the venues, guests the activity of selling a tickets

The event continued to sustain due to their success. The event is termed to be successful
with the support of the federation as well as the volunteer who contributed towards the

maintain their sustainability as it does not hinder the economy growth and development whereas
this promote more and more world peace and free trade due to which the stability in the
economic condition can be maintained. This has also impacted the economical perspective such
as financial , social and environmental in the positive manner:

on the financial perspective of the economy as this has increased the earning level of the nation
through the hosting of this event. The nation has achieved a extreme growth in their financial

will rise their sustainable earning.
This has also increased the infrastructure through their millions of earning which they

a positive impact on the social perspective as through the organisation of the event the host
