Situation: In a construction project, interpersonal skills play an essential role to formulate a
concrete relationship among the project manager, technicians, and other advisors. With the
help of effective interpersonal skill, the multi-disciplined team performance can also be
improved for completing any tight project. In this specific situation, the project manager
needs to apply interpersonal skills and training session to increase the performance of junior
staffs and labors. Interpersonal skill is considered as the oral strategy to share limited
information and business planning. On the other hand, different departments of a construction
company include many employees from a diverse community.
Task: The management of the construction company needs to focus on the needs of
employees at each level by adopting effective interpersonal skills. The project manager needs
to make personal chat as ‘Task' with each level to determine the requirements of the junior
staffs in a construction project (Barker and Gaut, 2014). In this way, interpersonal skill is one
of the significant media to share information and feelings to develop an effective multi-
disciplined team management. In other words, effective interpersonal skills can motivate the
employees to make an effort in the construction project. Along with that, communicating
strategies as ‘tasks' are also very effective to motivate the junior employees and as well as the
senior project managers of a construction company. The senior management of a construction
company can use email interactions could be considered as the interpersonal skill for
informing the other staffs. Different kind of written and printed documents can influence
interpersonal skills to share confidential information among the team members.

Action: The project manager needs to monitor the interpersonal skills to increase the team
performance and dynamic capabilities of the employees as ‘action'(Mefalopulos
&Kamlongera, 2014). On the other hand, the interpersonal skills of the employees can be
increased by providing a sufficient amount of training and development process as ‘action.' In
this way, with the help of effective training process, the interpersonal skills of the employees
can be developed to complete any construction project within a short deadline. Moreover, the
project manager needs to monitor the development process of the employees during the
training process for increasing the interpersonal skills of the junior employees as
‘task'(Dreachslin and Sprainer, 2015).
Result: as a result of the training session, the interpersonal skills of the employees can be
increased that make a profit for the construction company. As early mentioned, the training
and development program can increase the interpersonal skills of the employees. In other
words, the awareness of the employees plays a critical role to plan and organize the working
framework to accomplish critical projects within deadlines. On the other hand, the
motivational theory is another significant element that helps to organize the construction
projects(Corrado, 2015). In other words, the project manager needs to apply significant
motivational theories like Maslow’s Hierarchy need theory and Taylor’s motivation theory
for encouraging the multi-disciplined team environment. Therefore, the project manager
should apply these motivational theories to encourage the junior employees to complete all
construction projects within pre-determined deadlines.

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with staff at all levels.
Situation: I applied the STAR model that includes situation, task, approach or action and
result. I noticed a communication gap among employees. In a construction project,

words, I realized that the awareness of the employees plays a critical role to plan and
organize the working framework to accomplish critical projects within deadlines. On the
other hand, the motivational theory is another significant element that helps to organize
construction projects(Corrado, 2015). In other words, Iappliedsignificant motivational
theories like Maslow’s Hierarchy need theory and Taylor’s motivation theory for
encouraging the employees. Therefore, I implemented these motivational theories to
encourage the junior employees to complete all construction projects within pre-determined
deadlines.
Criteria 3
Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work to ensure pre-determined deadlines are
met.
Situation: I could motivate the junior employees by applying the STAR model that included
situation, task, approach or action and result. The situation was that a construction project
was to be completed within six months. In this situation, I used behavioral skills and reward
strategy to motivate the employees.
Task: With the help of the reward strategy, I had increased the self-confidence of the
employees to accomplish pre-determined deadlines of the construction projects. Moreover,
allocation of compensations and rewards can be considered as ‘task' in the STAR model done
by myself to complete the construction project within six months (Mcreynolds, 2012).

Action: The implementation process of reward strategy can be considered as ‘approach or
action’ of this STAR model to control the ‘situation’ as complete a construction project
within six months (NeerajJha, 2015). I followed ‘approach or action' of the STAR model by
implementing compensation for overtime, and most of the employees agreed with this course
of action.
Result: Finally, the ‘result’ of this course of action included a positive outcome for the
construction company. Also, I noticed that the employees worked day and night to get
compensation and the project was completed within six months that made the clients and
stakeholders happy.
