Reflection on feedback:
When I got my Part A paper back from my tutor, I carefully read over the feedback
provided by the tutor. This helped me to understand that sections that I have covered well and the
sections that I need to improve. The review of the feedback gave me the idea that I could give in-
depth understanding about the description of the role of nurse and doctors in professional
practice. I was happy to review this feedback and this was possible because I always took
interest in the nursing job and researched for the roles of the nurse so that I could easily take up
the nursing role in the future. I could also give clear understanding about the other profession
(doctor’s) role in the profession. However, I got poor feedback for others sections of such as the
reasons for nurse to work together with other professionals and reasons for why skills are need to
work with inter-professional team.
I felt disappointed for getting poor score in the last section of my paper. After thinking
about this, I began to carefully consider what mistake I did. So, I read my paper again. I found
that I had given the reason for a nurse to work with a doctor and the role of both professions
during interprofessional communication. However, the after checking the marking rubric for
criteria to achieve excellent understanding, I realized that I needed to backup my discussion with
variety of evidences. Black et al. (2015) supports the fact that accessing research literature is
eseential for evidence based practice. By using similar approach, I could identify my
shortcomings in discussing about the skills required to communicate effectively tools. I gave
good summary regarding skills required to communicate effectively, however lack of critical
discussion regarding the reason for such skills gave me low score. If I had spent more time to
find peer reviewing articles that explained about the need to have respect, empathy and trust in
interprofessional collaboration, I would have enhanced the quality of my work.
