Introduction:
Communication is neither
message transmission nor message
reception. Communication must be
constant, concise, and honest.
Changes in communication can also
have a huge impact on a firm.
During Covid, it became necessary
to transition from an office to a
work-from-home environment, and
this move has a significant influence
on both the employee and the
company. However, Covid is not the
explanation; businesses must adapt
their message in diverse scenarios.

Background
During the second quarter of 2020, companies were forced
to close their doors as a result of COVID-19. When the
COVID-19 issue initially arose, organizations all across the
globe were thrown into such a state of uncertainty that it
was difficult for many to predict whether or not they would
survive. J. Crew is a multi-brand specialty shop based in the
United States (U.S.News. 2022). Stores had been closed for
weeks, businesses had been shuttered, and consumers had
been confined to their homes. Consequently, sales to across
the board were in free fall mode. J. Crew had been suffering
from the reduction in mall traffic and the increase of internet
retailers over the previous several years and discovered
itself in a precarious situation when a global epidemic struck.
J. Crew went bust during the Covid epidemic due to a lack of
communication with customers.

Linking the theories
Companies should not only consider what is being said
within commercial and marketing communications, but
also consider internal company communications, FDA or
other government communications, investor
communications and medical or scientific
communications (Whittlesey, 2020).
During the first months of the pandemic, industry
reports showed that digital media use tremendously
increased as people spent more time at home due to
coronavirus lockdowns (Kemp, 2020).
