INTRODUCTION
Communication skills allow an individual to effectively understand others and gain the
ability to communicate their thoughts and opinions to others in an optimal manner. It allows an
individual to become an active listener at gain valuable feedback form individuals as well. The
skill of communication allows an individual in both their personal along with professional career
path (Lawson and et. al., 2019). Communication skill is essential for an individual in their
academic and persona development as it is linked to other skills such as teamwork.
MAINBODY
Communication skills refer to the abilities that can be utilized by an individual in order to
either give or receive various forms of information in an effective manner. These various forms
can include unique ideas, feeling along with updates related to tasks. I was able to develop
communication skills through active listening and perspective what other said to me in an
effective manner. In addition to this, I was able to provide my input to my peers that allowed to
enhance my overall communication skills and provided me essential support in improving my
productive among my peers. Communication skills consist of listening, speaking along with
observation and empathizing. There are various benefits of communication. Few of the same are
mentioned below:
Decision making:
Communication is an essential element for decision making along with planning. It
allows an individual to gain information without the possibility of miscommunication which is
crucial for taking decisions in both personal and professional aspect (Young and Travis., 2017).
The quality of communication helps an individual to evaluate what they have heard through
active listening and ensure they are able to take essential steps in academic development. In
addition to this allows in the development of active listening which is an essential
communication skills and allows in making better decisions.
Efficient working:
The concept of communication skills allows an individual to ensure that they are able to
instill efficient within their working. The individual is able to listen and communicate aspects

such as notes, information related to products in an optimal manner. This helps in completing
task in a proper and structure manner resulting in efficiency. The communication provides the
ability to develop the skill of adapting communication style relative to the audience in order to
improve performance leading to efficient work.
Co-ordination:
Communication allows an individual to develop optimal co-ordination with others who
they communicate with. This helps in effective transfer of information which is essential for
teamwork and ensures development of better co-ordination. This helps an individual to enhance
their productivity as well as performance. Effective communication allows in gaining the skills
of confidence that helps in co-ordination with others leading to higher level of productivity as
well as performance.
Leadership:
Communication allows an individual to become effective leaders who can properly guide
and direct others towards goals and objectives. Communication allows an individual to ensure
they can communicate their opinions to others and effective lead others.
What is effective communication:
Effective communication is crucial for both personal and professional development as it
allows the individual to clearly translate their intentions and feeling into understandable
message. Effective communication allows the individual to be more productive in their work and
eliminate unintended consequences that arise due to miscommunication (Zarei Matin and
Yousefzadeh, 2020). Developing effective communication provide assistance in understanding
what others want to communicate and make better collaboration and team member. Given below
