This report discusses the importance of communication skills in business operations and the need for environmental conservation. It analyzes three initiatives that can be taken by UoNL to reduce its impact on climate change and recommends the adoption of paperless technology as the best alternative.

Executive Summary
Every business organisation should consider the environmental aspect along with the
motive of profit making. It should not overuse the resources available in the environment.
Business enterprise should take some initiatives in order to protect the resources that might
extinct due to overuse. This report will cover the analysis of initiatives that can be taken in order
to reduce the impact of UoNL on the climate change based on 3 articles and to recommend the
best alternatives along with the justification of not opting the other two options.

INTRODUCTION
Communication skills may be referred as the way by which an individual understand the
other individual accurately and effectively. It is very important to transmit the thoughts, ideas so
that the other individual can understand in a better way which involves listening, observing and
speaking. It is an important aspect for the business to run its operations into taking the
consideration about the availability of environmental resources (Young and Travis, 2017). This
report is based on UoNL, high academic University in London, England. It will cover the
situation and issues along with the possible options being addressed and the key ideas supported
with the article. Further it will also cover the best recommendation based on the research and the
justification for not opting the other alternatives. The issues deals with the reduction in the
impact on climate change and the measures that can be taken in order to anticipate the changes in
an effective way.
TASK
Article 1
Issue 1 – As the company have limited funding that can be utilised in any one of the
initiative. The issue that UoNL is facing is that it wants to reduce its impact on the climate
change by adopting the solar energy. Solar energy is very effective in saving of the the electricity
and cost effective as compared to direct electricity along with it also balances the ecosystem in
the environment (Yildirim, 2021). The usage of electricity is very high in case of UoNL as it has
a big infrastructure that consumes huge amount of electricity. It also reduce the dependence on
the power grids by adopting solar panels. Many Universities adopted this green technology in
order to save the electric energy.
Advantages
 Reduce dependency on power grids- Solar energy helps in reducing the dependence on
the power grids. It is considered a better option as compared to the electricity of power
grids and also helps in making the green environment.
 Cost effective – Solar energy is cost effective as it helps in reducing the electricity bills.
It can save a hundreds every year.
Disadvantages

 Replacement frequency – The solar panels are required to replace at some time and
incurs little bit high cost. Along with the replacement, it also requires the regular service
and can often lead to change in the parts.
 Requires adequate sunshine – It requires efficient sunshine in order to generate high
electricity. In rainy season, it becomes complex for the University to tackle with such a
great issue.
Article 2
Issue 2 – The University is also considering to opt the e-bike and replace the vehicles that
are driven by Petroleum resource. This may reduce its impact on the climate change and
conserves a lot of p[petroleum resources and furthermore, it also helps in reducing the global
warming in the environment (Liu, 2018). It can be more efficient in terms of cost and helps in
reducing the harmful emitted gases by the conventional bikes. The government had introduced
various schemes related to e-bikes in order to encourage the people to switch to electric bikes.
Advantages
 Reduce Air Pollution - The conventional bikes emits very harmful and toxic gases in the
environment that can lead to air pollution and makes the environment unclean.
 Preserves Fossils – The e-bike runs on electricity and does not use petroleum resources
such as petrol or diesel and it helps in preserving the fossils that are available in a very
limited quantity (Shonfeld and Meishar-Tal, 2017). It is much cheaper as compare to
conventional bikes and saves money of the people.
Disadvantages
 Low Range – The electric bikes is not suitable for the long journeys as it have a short
distance range. It is suitable for covering the inter city distances and not for long
journeys.
 Charging Point issues – The electric bikes requires a timely charge for the smooth
travelling experience. There are not many electric points available to charge the bikes and
would become a complex problem for the people who are engaged n a business of
travelling across cities.

Article 3
Issue 3 – The University is trying to replace the paperwork into the paperless technology.
It will help in reducing the risk of keeping the important papers safe. Along with safety,
paperless technology it also facilitates the effective working method and saves the cutting down
of trees. The data can be saved on the “cloud” technology and can be retrieved from any place at
any time (Boretti, 2020). It will help in reducing the impact on the environmental change and can
be beneficial to the ecosystem. The merits and demerits of paperless technology are discussed
below:
 Cost Effective – It is a very cost effective way and a modern way which eliminates the
traditional paperwork. It involves a less amount as compared to paper based method. It
also reduces the storage cost of many files or documents which should be kept safety.
 Saves Trees - Paperless method helps in saving so many trees as there are so many trees
which are cut down in order to made papers (Marincek and Rérat, 2021). It will help in
producing the fresh air and decreases the ozone layer which depletes the global warming
in the environment.
 Disadvantages
 Software or Hardware issue – The data may be lost in case of any software or hardware
issue as all the data is stored in a digital format. In some cases, the system might crash
and the data cannot be recovered which becomes complex for recovering the stored data.
 Server Issue – Sometimes the system server may be down due to some reason so it is
very challenging for the organization to work in that critical condition as the employees
are not able to do their respective work.
CONCLUSION
From the above report, it was concluded that the UoNL is taking a very crucial step in
conserving and also in reducing its impact on the environmental changes (Lulejian and Cantor,
2018). All the three issues are very important to take into consideration but the availability of the
funds are limited in order to execute these all three. The solar energy is a cheap alternative of the
power grid source and the university is engaging in a very large infrastructure campus that
consumes higher amount of electricity. But due to unavailability of the adequate sunshine, it is
very challenging for the UoNL. The second issue of introducing the e-bikes and government also

promotes the use of these bikes as they are more convenient, and ecofriendly to the
environment. This will help in conservation of the fossil fuels but a major challenge that should
not be ignored is the unavailability of the adequate charging stations. The final issue is to make
the paperwork into paperless model. It will help in reducing the cutting down of trees and
thousands of trees can be saved by adopting this technology. Technology up-gradation helps in
saving of time along with the improved efficiency.
RECOMMENDATIONS
From the analysis of the above report and research on the article, it was recommended
that the UoNL should adopt the paperless technology because it will help in conservation of the
trees. They are the most important in maintaining the eco cycle of nature. It will help in cost
cutting of various storehouse or godowns in which the files and other essential documents are
stored having a risk of loss. It also facilitates the mobility of the documents and can be access
from a distant location at any time. It also makes the work easier as compared to paperwork. The
files can be saved on the cloud and can be retrieved or modified at any time. Rectification can be
done in case of paperless technology and becomes quite complex in case of traditional method of
paper writing. It also serves the facility of storing high amount of data. It will also saves the
transportation cost and reduce air pollution of transportation by accessing the data from
anywhere. The company should not adopt the other two alternatives because in case of solar
panels to be installed, it requires huge investment and the major problem that come across is that
it would not be beneficial in case of inadequate sunlight or in cloudy climate condition. So it
becomes complex for the University to work in that particular climatic condition. Further it also
requires regular service and the replacement of the spare parts which incurs high cost and the
unavailability of some spares becomes difficult to operate in this sector. The University should
not opt the second issue as well because of the unavailability of the charging stations and the low
distance range of electric bikes. Person cannot travel beyond the limit range of these bikes and it
is difficult to find the charging station in the remote areas. So it was recommended that the
university should opt for paperless technology in order to reduce its impact on the climate
change.
