INTRODUCTION
This video will discuss the importance of effective communication skills. Through
which video, I will share why communication skill is crucial for being an effective student in
higher education.
MAIN BODY
Communication is the act of sharing or transferring information from one place or
person to another. Communication is the act which involves involvements of a sender and a
receiver. The transmission of message from sender to receiver is the process of
communication where information is shared (Ahmed and Ward, 2016). With the help of
effective communication, an individual can share their message and also understand other
opinions and emotions.
Communication and its effectiveness play a crucial role in learning and education. As
communication skills were majorly focused throughput the module, I was able to understand
the value of communication as this helps in fostering relations by building trust, by
understanding others through active listening and through sharing relevant information which
helps in making people understand own views and ideas.
Communication skill developments is essential as a student as this supports learners to
avoid risk of falling behind peers and helps in becoming more emotionally aware at the
institute. Through this module, I understood that academic success relies on strong and
effective communication skills which can be verbal and non-verbal communication. In this
module, I understood the value of developing verbal and non-verbal communication skills
which will help me in communicating with my fellow mates effectively.
Throughout the module, I evaluated that effective communication is essential ss this
helps in building trust with people, helps in building a strong team, supports in understanding
others, drives innovation as everyone can share their ideas through open communication and
increase participation of all students in each activity (Baume and Popovic, 2016). Therefore,
I observed that by developing and maintaining effective two-way communication, this offers
clarity, sense of direction, supports in maintaining positive culture and problems can be
resolved with innovative ideas which will also enhance team work and productivity.
This module made me understood that communication is the key to develop and
maintain a safe learning environment where each student can freely share their ideas and such

criticism is avoiding in such positive learning environment. This also supported in forming
good understanding with peers throughout the module and was supported with maintaining a
strong teacher student relationship where learning and communication was key to growth and
development. It can be stated that, through effective communication in this module, I was
able to understand and value the advice of my mentor and fellow mates which encouraged me
to take part in activities and perform my best. Such factors supported personal growth,
increased knowledge, enhanced collaborative skills and supported in developing a friendly
and focused environment of learning.
Collaboration is exchange of information where communication is the key to effective
collaboration. Through this module, I understood that collaborative communication supports
in maintaining open environment which supports in creating seamless experience and making
learning more innovative and interesting (Cachia, Lynam and Stock, 2018). Therefore, it can
be stated that due to collaborative communication, this helps in developing team working
abilities and foster better understanding with fellow mates in institute.
In this module, communication skills were developed through collaborating with
fellow students and by working with them in team where we communicated our own opinions
and were part of active listening which created an atmosphere of positive learning and
development of effective communication. By working collaboratively with fellow members
in the module, I focused on actively participating with other students and communicating
with them through which we were able to learn new things everyday through the whole
module. Collaboration was helpful in encouraging ideas and supported us all to meet assigned
task and compete the assignments within time by effective two-way communication.
Communication was the key to effective team wok and collaboration in the module.
In this module, we shared feedbacks to each other’s through which we can engage in
continuous learning and development of our communication skills which would support us in
ensuring right message is delivered to right person at right time (Geertsema, 2016). This
created opportunity for us to communicate which can helps us understand our weakness
through which more improvement strategies can be formed and strategies for development
and strengthening communication skills can be developed. In this module, by engaging with
team supported me in building effective communication skills which supported in developing
communication skills where learning and developing from each other was the major source.

In this module, I learned the value of using write medium to communicate with
another as by using right medium for communication is helpful in sharing appropriate
message at right time with right people through which clarity can be driven. Throughout the
module, I understood that communication is based on understanding among people which can
be helpful in reducing the gap and support students in engaging into interactive and effective
learning. Collaboration with fellow mates while studying both helpful in understanding
fellow students more effectively through which we can collectively work as a unit and
develop opportunities of skill development and career growth (Goertzen and Whitaker,
2015). Collaborating with peers in higher education encourage me to form innovative
decisions which can also assist me in resolving problems and enhance productivity.
Effective communication exam essential part of a professional life time for students.
Effective communication in higher education assist students in contributing to class
discussions which will help them energy when valuable experience in class and become more
productive member in the academic session. In this module I understood the value of
communication skill development in higher education as this can be helpful in boosting
motivation level and confidence where I can maintain a good eye contact and better body
posture while speaking with confidence and deliver the right message. This module taught me
that no to become a good communicator it is essential to become a good listener which can
help in understanding others opinion.
In collaborating with peers throughout the module supported me in enhancing my
presence of mind and shopping memory as I engaged with people and communicated with
them through which I can understand the point of view of other students. Presence of mind
supported me in active listening much develop my communication skills and also help me in
developing a sense of understanding in trust with fellow students. In the module, there were
ample for the students which encouraged open mindedness where everyone can freely
communicate their ideas (Hallam and Council, 2015). In order to succeed in career, it is
essential to develop strong communication skills. This module, this medium where
understood the value of communication skills as this can be helpful in developing strong
network which can drive various opportunities for career growth.
Communication skill development is crucial to be an effective student in higher
education, the development of communication skills can motivate students to engage in
conversations. In this module, I understood that by developing communication skills, this will

encourage students to initiate and engage in conversations where they can share ideas and
learn together. In this module, communication skill development in higher education made
me realised that through developing effective communication, this can support in forming a
supportive and safe environment for oneself and for fellow students through which more
comfortable environment can be maintained for learning and development. Through
developing communication skills in higher education, this will enable students to talk and
share their ideas and participate in active listening where they can support fellow students
which will also enhance teamwork abilities.
From this module, I understood that communication is not just about sharing
information, in higher education this involves reading, writing and listening carefully through
which better results and outcomes can be gained (Nowell and et.al, 2017). Development of
communication skills is essential in higher education, as this will support in building a strong
relationship and friendship with people throughout the module in higher education. However
verbal communication and nonverbal communication such as physical expression must be
developed in higher education as this will support in interacting with others and sharing more
creative ideas. Development of good communication skills essential for students as this will
allow others to understand information more accurately and quickly. Due to poor
communication skills, this can make any student face situation of misunderstanding and will
lead to frustration which will affect the performance in the academic session.
Communication skill development essential for students in higher education, in the
development of communication skills support students in building trust where student can
trust each other and develop a better relationship through which productivity can be
enhanced. Communication skill development is essential in higher education as this supports
in forming better understanding with fellow mates through which productivity can be
enhanced and the ability to handle conflicts can be improved.
Development of communication skills is essential to be an effective student in higher

communication skills as a student, this can be helpful in encouraging students to participate

with ease and confidence. In this module I understood that by developing communication

skills, a student can learn new things more effectively as due to open communication this will
encourage students to clear their misunderstandings which will make learning more effective.
It can be understood that communication is important for sharing ideas which will
help students in getting feedbacks through discussing with students and teachers which will
helps in continuous learning, development and helps students in creating opportunities for
students themselves. Communicating ideas is essential as this is the part of growth and
learning which can make students more creative and learn from fellow students. However, it
can be stated that communication skills help in developing effective leadership skills and
qualities as effective leadership is also involves strong communication skills where they can
develop a strong network (Wang and et.al, 2017). Through effective communication skill
development, this will also enhance leadership skill which will help students in higher
education to develop a good career and enhance their knowledge. Communication is not just
dropping our ideas infront of others, it is the act of making people understand our opinions
and such convincing and effective communication skills are the basic pillar for students to
develop trust and understanding with fellow students and teachers through which they can be
part of creative and critical learning and continuous improvement.
As communication will helps students in boosting their confidence, this will support
them in sharing their ideas openly and will not make them face any hesitation through which
they can gain experience which will be helpful in developing and shaping the personality and
personal growth. Communication skill development is essential for students in higher
education as this will helps students in understanding different kinds and nature of people and
understand their perceptions (Zhang, 2016). This will also offer them opportunities of
learning new things and gather more information which will support them in building a good
personality. Therefore, by communicating with different students, new approaches and
techniques can be learnt which will expand the knowledge base and encourage in looking
forward to new opportunities.
CONCLUSION
From the above information, it can be stated that communication is the process of
exchanging information by speaking, writing or by using any other medium. Communication
involves three parts, which are- sender, message and recipient. Effective communication not
just help in sharing information, this supports in eliminating differences, bringing more
clarity, building trust, maintaining better understanding and engage in active listening. As a

student, communication plays a key role in sharing valuable information which can be used
for learning and continuous development. It can be understood that communication facilitates
in developing clear ideas and bringing clarity and sense of direction through which students
can understand the value of work and what should be done. Communication and
collaboration of students with others students helps them in developing various skills through
which they can focus on their career and engage in their career growth.
