INTRODUCTION
The academic environment is becoming more and more digital as the usage of
information and communication technology including digital and virtual technologies is being
used to provide students exceptional quality education (Aluja-Banet, Sancho and Vukic, 2019).
The arrival of pandemic has only accelerated the process of digitising higher education as
students have to access educational institution services remotely. This presentation looks at the
current information and communication technology being used in higher education along with
the virtual technology which is supporting students seeking remote education. The functions of
word processing package and ways off using website text in academic work without increasing
plagiarism are described in this report. The function of virtual learning environment and usage of
Turnitin is explained in this report.

Primary functions about a word processing package
Word processing is defined as that of utilising a computer for creating editing saving and
printing documents. Specialized software has been created for effective word processing in the
current age and it is used by students along with professionals to create academic and business
documents. Microsoft word and Google Docs are some of the most commonly used word
processing packages in the highlight education industry. The primary functions of a word
processing package are provided below:
Documentation
The main function of a word processing package is to support creation of documents using a
computer. This involves creation, saving, copying and composing documents (Bogusevschi,
Muntean and Muntean, 2020). In addition to this, word processing package can also be used for
printing the digitally created document which supports the process of documentation. This
function is the primary reason word processing packages have become commonly used
information and coming vision technology in the academic and professional world because
creation of documents and reports is a common daily task in higher education and business
environment.
