The American Red Cross (ARC), also referred to as the American National Red Cross, is
one of the humanitarian foundation that helps in providing help or emergency assistance during
calamities or make the population prepare for any upcoming disaster by educating them and also
helps in providing relief during any disaster. The organization is affiliated to the International
Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The organization provides various kinds of
programs that are educational along with providing or offering services, which help in managing
any upcoming disasters. The American Red Cross (ARC) through the combination of donors,
partners and volunteers helps in providing help whenever there is a need for help.

The health community organizations are regarded as one of the non-profit organization,
which involves or helps in forming or building innovative relationships or partnerships by aiding
in the improvement of health and health care in the various parts of the world. The paper below
discusses the visions and missions of a particular organization named as the American Red Cross
(Kane, 2014) and further discusses the contributions the foundation pose towards public health
and safety improvements. Lastly, the paper throws a wider light to understand the need to invest
in a nonprofit organization, which helps in the improvement of the quality of life and further
promotes opportunity.
The American Red Cross (ARC), also referred to as the American National Red Cross, is

partners and volunteers helps in providing help whenever there is a need for help. Providing
shelter, food and care around the world or in the country during the time of any kind of disaster
had helped the population in a lot of ways. The desire of the foundation to bring in assistance in
the form of help without implementing any kind of discrimination to the commoners or any
wounded person in the battlefield, within the country’s or international jurisdiction. The main
aim or purpose of the foundation is to put a stop to the suffering of any human being, caused due

to any kind of disaster. Protecting life and ensuring and promoting good health and respect for
the human being helps in the promotion of understanding, cooperation and peace amongst the
population. The foundation also provides an impartial approach without discriminating
nationality, race or class or political views. It only focuses on giving priority to the most needful
cases. The foundation is also independent in nature and thereby, the national societies along with
the professionals in the humanitarian services are required to abide by the Red Cross Principles.
The organization also is a voluntary relief venture that are not required or in accordance to any
norms or regulation. The foundation also follows the rule of regulating one Red Cross Society in
the country and that needs to be accessible to everyone. With each passing year the American
Red Cross helps around 60,000 disasters (Deloffre & Schmitz, 2019) emergency situations such
as natural calamities, oil spills, transportation accidents, natural or manmade emergencies. Even
though the ARC is not considered as a government policy, the right to provide relief in case of
disaster situations was formulated in the year 1905 and since then American Red Cross had been
one of the successful organization in providing relief nationally or internationally and reduce
sufferings around the globe during any kind of calamities or emergencies.
It has been observed clearly that the American Red Cross depends on the varied amount
of volunteered nurses (Nowak, Fitzpatrick, Schmidt & DeRanieri, 2015) and other healthcare
personnel who help in improving the quality of life with proper health assistance and by
providing education o the people. The health officials and the nurses help in developing
educational programs by providing training to perform first aid or CPR in case of any emergency
or disaster.
The paper can be concluded with the statement that the American Red Cross foundation
helps in the prevention of any kind of major outbreak caused due to any kind of disaster or

help of various volunteers and the generosity of the donors. Moreover, the foundation has been
seen and observed to provide good quality services to the people. Additionally, the foundation is
also seen to practice the same within the organization or amongst the population. The strategies
of providing proper education and training to the people help in selecting healthy choice as a way
of living. The foundation is also seen to work and promote the accessibility of people towards
various affordable health care services, which had been proved to be very supportive for the
well-being of the population. Improving the health and providing best health care at affordable
rates amongst the communities have been two of the most important traits of the American Red
Cross and that in itself makes it the most successful non-profitable organization in making the
population healthier and safer.
