a) Identification of the demographic health needs of the community and critical analysis of the
data in the context of what this means for health
In present time, it has been analysed health is continuously affected by a number of
factors and some of these elements are given underneath:
If it is talked about demographic health needs of the community i.e. Pentwyn within the
Cardiff County. Away with this, it is said that more than 34% of the individuals that are coming
within the age in between 16 are specifically obese and overweight, which specifically enhances
the chances of getting several serious diseases and these are: Heart disease and stroke, High
blood pressure, Diabetes, Cancer, Gallbladder disease and gallstones as well. In present context,
Type 2 diabetes, basically considered as one of the crucial reason for reduction within the body's
ability to go through blood sugar related issues (Waters and et. al., 2020).
Away with this, it has been analysed that type 2 diabetes has been one of the crucial
reason that came in front of heart disease, early death, blindness and stroke as well. Basically,
overweight of citizens of Pentwyn as due to different reasons to specifically develop type 2
diabetes, which is compared with normal weight people that belongs to other counties of Wales
(Warner and Christenson, 2019). On the other hand, it is said that these risks for developing type
2 diabetes are less activities done by losing weight or exercises to more. If an individual within
Pentwyn have type 2 diabetes, losing weight and becoming more physically active can help
control the blood sugar levels. Also, it is said that it will be required by Pentwyn to improve their
physical activity as this may also allow them in reducing the amount of diabetes medication they
need. On the other hand, another issue that came in front of community nearby 43% of the
citizens are addicted to drinking alcohol, which raise number of concerns not only for this county
but it is a huge concern for every single county of United Kingdom or any other nation as well
(Rantanen and et. al., 2019)

Considering the above mentioned information, it is said that Pentwyn, Cardiff has been
going through different problems but basically there are the two specific regions that came in
front that has affected not only Pentwyn but other regions as well of Cardiff. These are
mentioned underneath:
Social Model of Health – Dahlgren & Whitehead: The model is divided into three layers
which are three different perspectives and areas in individual’s life which affects their health
conditions. This model’s is an attempt to elaborate the relationship between the person, the
environment they are surrounded and diseases.
Individual life factors are basically those reflecting upon the living standards and styles
of individuals. Social community factor are those where people get support from community in
unfavourable conditions and sometimes have negative effect or no support. General
socioeconomic, cultural and environmental conditions are highlighting towards the essential
services available to the people of Pentwyn. It has other determinants which are Agriculture is
