The Risk and Prevention for Diabetes Type 2
Epidemiological Rationale for Topic (statistics information on Risk and Prevention for
Diabetes Type 2 ):
Diagnosis in Nursing is linked to self-care actions and the health-seeking of an individual
(patient). Such activities involve tolerating the role of progress identification, self-care and
eradicating poor health care activities, being very active for looking for knowledge on the
disease or medical treatment of the same disease. The gathered statistical information from the
center if disease prevention of 2014 showed that about 29.1 million individuals have diabetes,
this number equals to 9.3 per cent of the total US population. The data also shows that 21 million
people were diagnosed with diabetes while 8.1 individuals were not diagnosed. At the age of 20-
44 about 4.3 million of people tested positive of diabetes while 4.1 million tested negative.
At 45 years old, about 13.4 million tested positive with diabetes whereas 16.2 were
undiagnosed. From the data, it was found that persons who are physically fit were able to lower
their chances of contracting this type of diabetes by about 30 to 40 per cent through doing
exercise for about 30 minutes every day. The association of American Diabetes suggested
screening of this disease for every individual who is over 45 years, some of the risk factors are
African American, Hispanic, family history of having the disease, obesity and having a kid who
have weight more than 8 pounds.

Nursing Diagnosis:
Unjust nutrition. More than the requirements of the body, food intake which is more than what
our body needs as evidenced by the gain in body weight.
Readiness for Learning:
Being ready for learning is so significant, nurses need to attach emotionally with the patients
and they need to practically fathom the patient’s problems. Teaching with other students and
professionals makes the learners to be more effective in health care and social care team.
Learning in groups ensures that learners comprehend professional weaknesses. Problem
discussion in a social care team will be productive. Single out the factors which would show the
learning readiness for the anticipated aggregate. Young individuals will have the feeling of how
to prevent diabetes type 2 as well as preventing the chances of being obese. They can realize this
by asking questions on how to reduce the chances of contracting diabetes type 2, they can also
engage in a serious conversation, use verbalized understandings and body language.
Learning Theory to Be Utilized:
The theory of teach-back shall be employed since it is employed to narrow down the gaps of
communication between the clients and the teacher (Farris, 2015). Via this theory, I will employ

the simple language plus fewer terminologies for medicine given in the booklet. The clients shall
be asked to recap the materials which I had trained them in their first language.
I will assess the learning of the client as well as re-educate the clients to ensure that they
perfectly fathom the materials. This strategy is a direct educational activity that will be executed
via the use of eye contact, personal contact, repetition and body language will be highly
employed to ensure the efficiency of the theory. The theory of salutogenic can be employed for
the program dealing with health promotion. It emphasizes on an individual´s health before this
theory is used, it is advisable to ensure that the students fully understand it.
Goal:
According to healthy people of 2020, objectives are used as goals to ensure teaching is
conducted perfectly. It involves a suitable objective as well as a rationale by using the chosen
HP2020 goal. In case the objective of HP2020 doesn’t support the anticipated teaching, it is
encouraged to clarify how the training employs one of the overarching goals of HP2020. The use
of D-16 promotes prevention activities for an individual having a higher risk of diabetes. Other
goals include;
Having a higher number of individuals with medical insurance.
Ensuring that there are so many practicing medical workers
Ensuring that there are several people connected to key care provider
Increasing the number of individuals with dental insurance.

How Does This HP2020 Aims Relate to Alma Ata’s Health
Alma Ata’s global actions in the globalization of health care recognize that obstacles like
wellbeing problems can´t be separated in a given country and vast well-being care absurdities in
other states are cruel to everyone; the welfare for the world’s population needs to be the
objective of every state (Maurer, 2013). Albeit diabetes type 2 isn't under the best 10 wellbeing
intercessions, but education about wellbeing issues and methods to avoid or eradicating them
(Maurer, 2013). Concurring to Healthy People 2020 (2016), the objective is to decrease the
illness of diabetes type 2 and to increase the value of health for everybody that will have the
infection or is at the chance for it because diabetes type 2 is spreading globally.

The students shall be
capable of pinpointing at
least 2 diabetes symptoms.
In the pamphlet and the
presentation, there is a list
of diabetes symptoms and
the instructions to follow up
with the physician of the
primary care.
At the end of the
presentation, Volunteers
will have to present some of
the diabetes symptoms and
then asked the young
individuals to pinpoint the
symptoms of volunteers.
Creativity: This illustrates how creativity was used in teaching strategies and methods. The
method of teaching was via listening and visual effects. During the process of presentation, the
trainer interacted with young individuals on exercise, skin checks, food type, blood sugar level
checks, and hand hygiene.
Planned Evaluation of Objectives. Showing what one shall use to measure every objective and
how this will be realized.
1) The health condition is improved via the choice of food, through the young adult selected
snacks and food which will reduce the chances of heart illness and this type of diabetes
through pre-evaluation.
2) The lifestyle is modified to help in prevention as well as treatment of obesity through
doing 30 minutes of exercise per day for about five times every week.

3) The level of blood sugar glucose is maintained to a normal to help in the prevention of
chances of contracting diabetes type 2. This is realized via skin monitoring for every
wound and ensuring there is hand hygiene.
4) Inspect the symptoms and signs in the young adults to help pinpoint the blurry vision,
pain at the feet, fingers´ numbness and feeling very thirsty.
Planned Evaluation of Goal: Showing when and how one need to evaluate the overall .
I began going to this church where this activity was conducted and I shall be capable to do a
follow up with young people in a period of 3 months in accordance with their prevention
individual to lower chances of this type of diabetes.
Planned Evaluation of Lesson and Teacher
I would give the young individuals with unspecified assessment questionnaire on the class as
well as the teacher after the presentation through using order 1 (disagree), 2 (somewhat), 3
(agree). The question shall be:
Was it easy to fathom the presentation? Were the expectations met through the presentation?
Barriers:
Inadequacy feeling on an individual´s ability or unwillingness to do some vital changes in
behaviors and cognitive deficits are key barriers. Through members of a family which is
presumed to be part of this responsibility, evaluation of the information of chances of diabetes
for a client as well as his preferred lifestyle would be fingered in this training.

Communication: ( feedback for both weakness and strength).
This explains how the presentation will be begun, how the presentation will be ended. This part
also include the feedback which the student will give. What are some of the nonverbal
communication methods employed?
I will begin by introducing the subject of the young adult, young adults eating snacks
before starting the presentation. The young adults will be asked on what they know on the
chances and diabetes health risks as well as complication which can arise having this type of
diabetes. After getting the answer of this question, the students are asked how many young adults
would prefer keeping their toes since if they don´t take good care of their health as well as take
care of what they eat plus doing the exercise. Again include individuals who want to poke their
figures daily for their whole lives as well as take medications so as to regulate their blood sugar
level as well as other related diseases like heart complications.
In the last part of the presentation, I would prefer having 1 young adult who has been
diagnosed to test positive for the diabetes type 2 to tell their own input on the disease has
changed his or her life, what she or he indulge in daily to make him or her regulate his or her
blood sugar level. The person will also check his or her life before he or she tested positive and
give significant changes. When these young adults conversing and listening to one another by a
discussion on how difficult and frustrations they face to maintain their blood sugar level. It is
believed that when the young adults speak about their own health, it is very easy to think on how
other individuals of the same age would focus on what he or she is feeling. The students will
give their thoughts on strengths and weakness of this plan. A lot of concentrations should be on
the weaknesses which will be used for improvement.
