The Risk and Prevention for Diabetes Type 2
Epidemiological Rationale for Topic (statistics information on Risk and Prevention for

Diagnosis in Nursing is linked to self-care actions and the health-seeking of an individual
(patient). Such activities involve tolerating the role of progress identification, self-care and
eradicating poor health care activities, being very active for looking for knowledge on the
disease or medical treatment of the same disease. The gathered statistical information from the
center if disease prevention of 2014 showed that about 29.1 million individuals have diabetes,
this number equals to 9.3 per cent of the total US population. The data also shows that 21 million
people were diagnosed with diabetes while 8.1 individuals were not diagnosed. At the age of 20-
44 about 4.3 million of people tested positive of diabetes while 4.1 million tested negative.
At 45 years old, about 13.4 million tested positive with diabetes whereas 16.2 were
undiagnosed. From the data, it was found that persons who are physically fit were able to lower
their chances of contracting this type of diabetes by about 30 to 40 per cent through doing
exercise for about 30 minutes every day. The association of American Diabetes suggested
screening of this disease for every individual who is over 45 years, some of the risk factors are
African American, Hispanic, family history of having the disease, obesity and having a kid who
have weight more than 8 pounds.
