To implement Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) IEEE has proposed a
protocol that is called IEEE 802.11. This protocol is a set of medium access control
(MAC) and physical layer (PHY) specifications. Thecomputers communicate in 900
MHz and2.4, 3.6, 5 and 60 GHz frequency bands. This is the most popular wireless
standard used in all over the world.The 802.11 family has series of half duplex over
the air modulation techniques that uses the same basic protocol. The first wireless
networking standard that comes in the family was 802.11-1997. But this is not
accepted widely. The first widely accepted protocol in this family was 802.11b. Then
after a series of protocols come as 802.11g, 802.11a, 802.11n, and 802.11ac. etc. The
rest of other standards in this family like are a type of changes in service that is going
to use the current scope of operational standards.These will also used in the process of
putting tp shape the specifications of the past (ragÃ3n-Zavala, 2017). The protocols
802.11b and 802.11g operates on the 2.4 GHz ISM band. Due to the choice of
frequency band sometime 802.11b and g equipment may suffer from interference
from microwaves ovens, cordless telephones and Bluetooth devices. 802.11a uses
5GHz U-NII band.802.11n cab uses either of 2.4GHz or 5GHz band. 802.11ac uses
only5GHz band. It is important to note that the radio frequency spectrum segment
utilized byt 802.11 is different among various states. 802.11ad is an amendment. A
new physical layer for the 802.11networks is also defined buy it. It operates in
60GHz millimeter wave spectrum.802.11af is also known as super WiFi or
sometimes white-fi. This is also an amendment that enables for WLAN activity in TV
