OVERVIEW
In the most of general terms, Gothic literature can be defined the style of writing that
employs dark and Picturesque scenery, startling & melodramatic narrative devices. These are
consider the overall explanation about the atmosphere of exoticism, fear, dread and mystery.
Different kind of gothic novel, stories, film descriptions are majorly associated with mystery and
intrigue surroundings the supernatural aspects. The primary characteristics of Gothic text include
death, haunted homes, family curses, powerful romance and ghost. In this documentation, it will
discuss about the comparison between two gothic texts such as “The Tell Tale Heart”- Edgar
Allan and Poe and “Dracula Untold”- Gary Shore.
TASK
Gothic Beginnings- Every story has been started at some point, so does every story-telling
genre. The Gothic fiction has no exception. Initially, it is the simplest way to represent
publication of short story The Tell Tale Heart” and written by Edgar Allan and Poe. Before
starting the session, it is mainly focused on term of Gothic which is primarily represented the
historical aspects, but a self-declaration attached to “The tell-tale heart” grafted in form of
literature. Thus, it is also creating a new literacy genre (Silva, 2017). On the basis of discussion,
it has been explored the connection to gothic literature and identify the timeless features.
“The Tell Tale Heart”- Edgar Allan and Poe
A tell-tale heart is basically referred to the constant sound of heart beat that would be
narrated by Edgar Allan & Poe. It can be heard the actual reason behind murdered of old man.
The heart beat is usually comes from narrator, guilt-ridden conscience and leads him to move
towards another direction by itself. Even though this is one of the Poe’s shortest stories and
written by gothic text which nevertheless a profound and at the times, ambiguous investigation
of man’s paranoia. In context of gothic text, Poe reveal about the text of tell-tale-heart which
revolve the plat around an individual person. He was insisting as same thing, Murders on old
man because of his vulture eye.
