Compare and contrast two opposing perspectives on
globalisation
In the contemporary society and in various academics fields, the word globalisation has
become one of the most widely used terms offered opportunities to generate knowledge in
several aspects of spheres comprising politics, economics, media, geography and sociology.
Aspers and Kohl (2015) defined globalisation as a historical practice which is characterised
by increasing engagement between individuals on all angles of the globe. Though, diverse
perspectives on globalisation view these practices in dissimilar means and offer contending
elucidations of their impacts and significances.
Taking consideration of hyperglobalist perspective, it relates to the top fervent sight of the
course of globalisation as it is carrying about private ownership in the economies via
development of transnational links of production, finance and trade. Ultimately, it will make
a global age together with global governance and the end of the nation state. However, most
of the people do not agree with this view as when the transformationalist perspective shows
as it fetches the mid ground in the globalisation discussion among the sceptics and
hyperglobalists. According to this view, countries states requires to interact and adapt with
fresh drives, social actions, international and organisational forms on the international phase
and relatively than mislaying control, nation states are adjusting to this practise (Lee, 2016).
Then comes sceptics with a completely different outlook on globalisation with considering it
an appropriate ideologically developed fable that assists validate the neo-liberal and open
market capitalist structure.
Other perspectives concerning to globalisation include different contradictions such as
globalisation increase free trade between the countries, however, also leads to greater
competition where not all people and businesses gain equally. Similarly, organisation have
greater flexibility to operate across borders, though, polluting businesses can take advantage
of weak supervisory rules in the emerging nations. Taking an example of an American
company i.e. Harley Davidson, the company rode into India on a mango agreement. More
specifically, India cleared Harley investment offer in 2007 in interchange for the United
States lifting an 18 year ban on mango ingresses from India. The country has banned India

transportation, however, on the other hand, also signifies risks of diseases being transported

outbreak.
Ultimately, there has been seen significance dramatic changes as of globalisation leading
significant impact on institutions, companies and countries at an international stage. In
addition, different perspectives of globalisation also come true at certain point and therefore,
cannot be regard completely wrong until substantial evidence not found.
