Sustainable development goals are the objectives which are adopted by all the countries
for the purpose of establishing prosperity and peach around the world. On the other hand,
millennium development goals are the set of eight different goals which are highly focused with
the improvement of lives of poorest individuals all around the world. For the purpose of meeting
them around 189 countries have signed millennium declaration (Gellers, 2016). The comparison
of both of them is as follows:
SDGs MDGs
There are 17 different sustainable development
goals which are adopted by united nations
members to develop peace and property for
world.
These are 8 differnet goals which are main
focused with making the world poverty free for
which different countries are continuously
trying as it helps to improve lives of
individuals.
The main factors which are focused by these
goals are no hunger and poverty, good
education, health and well being of individuals,
equality in gender, sanitation, decrement in
inequality, life on land, sustainable
communities and cities, affordable energy,
climate action, life below water, innovation in
industry and infrastructure, responsible
consumption and production etc.
The major components which are focused by
these goals are reduction of hunger and
poverty, achieve universal primary education,
women empowerment and gender equality,
improving maternal health, decrement in child
mortality, ensuring environmental
sustainability, combat to serious diseases such
as malaria, HIV Aids etc.
There are various countries which are doing better in achieving the MDGs and the central
role is played by India and China. These nations are having the higher number of population
around the world and both of them has responded poverty appropriately and contributed in the
attainment of MGDs. Africa was not able to meet the millennium development goals because of
the lower economic growth and high level of poverty. 40% of the population of Africa is living
in poverty and the level of it is extreme (Stuart and Woodroffe, 2016). In order to get
