COMPARISION BETWEEN CLOUD SERVICE PROVIDER1Executive Summary:The purpose of this study is to provide information about the cloud service provider for the development of application through Platform as a Service (PaaS). It will compare and contrast between PaaS services that has been chosen by the cloud service provider and the Bluemix. There will be a detail information with screenshots of the record for using those services. Finally, my opinion on the chosen cloud service providers as what I choose to be thebetter performer and see over their current servies.

COMPARISION BETWEEN CLOUD SERVICE PROVIDER3IntroductionCloud computing has become one of the fastest growing paradigms as a networkingmodel and other computing processes. The assistance that cloud provides is the reason behindits enormous popularity. It is categorised into three categories namely IaaS (Information-as-a-service), PaaS (Platform-as-a-service) and SaaS (Software-as-a-service) (Rani and Ranjan2014). They all assist in different computing services. The subject of the devised paper willbe the PaaS and the cloud service providers. The proposed work will shortlist four PaaS cloudservice provider and further shortlist one of the providers to do a comparative analysis withthe IBM BlueMix PaaS. The comparative analysis will be done based on multiple factors oneof which will be measuring the ease that both service providers offer in developing “HelloWorld” application. Based on the evaluation the author will offer his own opinion over thebest PaaS service provider before concluding the devised paper.Cloud service providersThe following table lists all the cloud services providers who offer PaaS:Service ProviderKey FeatureIBM BlueMixCapable of fulfilling hybrid cloudrequirement.Google App EngineIsolates processes and hence, risk reduction.Microsoft AzureOffers more control as it can integrate IaaSand PaaS.Amazon Web ServicesSupports multiple languages, server-sidetechnologies and database.Engine YardBetter control over the VMs (VirtualMachines) than others.Red Hat OpenShiftUser interface option with the PaaS using aweb-console.HerokuSuitable for instant deployment andsupports wide spectrum of distributedapplication. AppFogThe developed application can be operatedon multiple clouds.CaspioEasy to use GUI (graphical user interface).Long JumpDeveloper-centric support

The decision of selecting thefollowing is based on the special feature they offer. However, the subject selected to comparewith the IBM BlueMix is the AWS. The selection of the AWS is based on the following tworeasons:Flexible and ease of Use: The deemed service provider offers the users the choice ofoperating system along with the programming language, database, applicationplatform and others services with great ease of use. The virtual cluster offered by theservice provider also enables the users to attempt at new things.Scalable and reliable: AWS tools such as the Elastic Load Balancing and AutoScaling offers the choice of scaling down or up of the application. Additionally, thecomputing infrastructure offered by the Amazon offers reliability over the securityand safekeeping of information. The services offered by the subject are even cost-efficient for the users.

COMPARISION BETWEEN CLOUD SERVICE PROVIDER5Bluemix Vs AWSServices offeredThe table below shows the comparison between the services offered by the AWS andthe Bluemix:Services offeredAWSBlueMixIoT (Internet of Things)AWS IoT SDK (softwaredevelopment kit) along with thenecessary features like(communicating over theMQTT, Http or others andsupporting multiple languages)also offers scalability.IBM is offering configuredplatforms (IoT) for thevehicles and buildings alongwith the other features.Artificial intelligenceAmazon does offer AI serviceshowever, the basics (Naturallanguage processing, visionanalytics, speech processingand others) are very weak and itdoes not stand in comparison toother service providers. Unlike, the AWS, BlueMixhave a stable offering of theAI services through itsWatson developers cloudservices. It has matured inoffering the AI services aspart of the SDA (Scalable DigitalApplication)AWS leads in the deemedservice offering. The reason forthe same lays on the hugescalability option offered by theservice provider along with costefficiency. However, BlueMix lacksheavily in this area. Theservice offered byorganisation is costly andscalability option has alsobeen limited to keep thenetwork secure and efficient.OthersThe services offered by theAWS are mostly focused on thecorporate world and theservices are designed to assistthem. Though, the serviceprovider offers basics servicesto the students that can fit intheir budget.Contradicting, the BlueMixhas its focus more on thestudents, researchers, geographically diversifiedprojects, IT start-ups andothers experimental purposes.Table 2: COMPARISON OF THE PAAS SERVICES(Source: Created by the Author)
