INTRODUCTION ACAP Student code of conduct refers to the rules and regulations that are made by the Australian College of Applied Professions so that the students of the college must follow them or behave according to these code of conduct (STUDENT INFORMATION AND CONDUCT, 2021). The Australian College gave emphasis on the behaviour of the students that they must properly or with the respect and the dignity with the staff members as well as with the other students. There are the policies of the Australian College that sets or defines the code of conduct for the students that they must behave in an appropriate and courteous manner and the discourteous behaviour or the actions are not tolerated by the institution. Whereas the APS code of ethics refers or means to the Australian Psychological Society ethical codes that promotes some of the main and basic principles of ethics and also set the specific standards in order to guide the members of the institution as well as the psychologists (Wofford and Hoge, (2021). This report shows the similarities and the differences between these two codes and also the relationship between the professional and the personal values of ethical living and learning. It also shows the effective ways in order to develop the ethical codes. MAIN BODY PART 1 The similarities between the two codes Generally the ethics and the code of conducts are related or connected with each other as the ethics refers to the governing principles that mainly explains the difference between right and wrong whereas on the other hand code of conduct are motivated towards accountability that are helpful in increasing the moral values and the trust of the people. ACAP student code of conduct and the APS code of ethics are similar codes as they are used or applied in order to encourage the students so that they can behave in a specific form of ethical behaviour by the students and the staff members (Fox, and et.al., 2020). The ethical principles provides the basic or the main guidance about the choices as well as the values of the students that can have the power to influence or affect the decision making process. Code of conduct or the rules and regulations of the College states the there are some actions that are appropriate and some of them are appropriate in order to perform. One of the basic similarity between both the codes is that they must or compulsory be followed by the members of the institution or the organization. The standards that are set or defined about the
behaviour of the student by the Australian College for both the codes is to promote a healthy environment of mutual respect between all the students and the staff of the organization. This will help to increase the moral values of the students. The main differences between the two codes Along with similarities between the ACAP code of conduct and the APS code of ethics there are some differences between these codes as both the codes are related to the behaviour of the students and the staff members of the college. But every individual have their own behaviour and the different point of views regarding the ethics and there can be a various ways of conducting the behaviour. Generally the ethical standards refers to the wide rage of set of values or the approaches of the decision making that empowers the students in order to make the judgements according to their own choices or the preferences (Russell, Grant and Morton, (2020). The students have their independent judgements that are applicable to the most proactive action. On contrary to the ethical standards the code of conduct or the conduct standards are not based on the specific set of values and there is less or the little judgement requires and these can be obeyed or there must a penalty for the violation of the rules or the regulations. The code provides the fair and the clear set of expectations that must be fulfilled by the students and the type of actions regarding its acceptation or the prohibition. PART 2 Outlining the strengths of ethical codes The ethical codes can be able to build the trust as well as the credibility among the brand value of the organization and the stakeholders. A code gave emphasis on the discussions and the compliance of the ethics. It also encourages or empowers the employees in order manage or handle the ethical dilemmas. It helps the employees to detect or find the services, documents and the resources related to the ethical codes of the organization (Lattie and et.al., (2020). Following are the strengths of the ethical codes of The Australian College of Applied Professions - Same rules for everyone- The Australian college make same rule and regulations for everyone those who are the part of the institution. So, there is no dissimilarities between the staff members as well as between the students. The rules regarding the ethics are similar whether it is for the students or for the teachers. Outlining the limitations of the ethical codes As there are many strengths of the ethical codes of the Australian College of applied Professions there are some disadvantages or the limitations of these codes which will create the hurdles in the path of the success of the organization. Following are the limitations of Australian College are Ethical codes are one of the broad guidelines and are restricted and also it cannot be applied in all the situations. So, it is very difficult to predict all the problems related to the moral values. If there is any internal conflicts because of the overlapping of the codes there is no solution provided by these codes in order to resolve or overcome the current problem or the situation. Mostly the code of ethics cannot be obeyed as one of the final moral authority (Burns and et.al., (2020). Sometimes the Australian College may find or face the difficulties in maintaining the standards of the professional ethics of the students for which they are giving them the training related to the profession selected by the students. So, it can create problems for them if they do not follow the ethical code of their profession. One of the biggest limitation of the code of ethics is that sometimes these codes are not effectively linked or connected with the concept of integrity of the institution (Santa-Helena and et.al., (2021). The codes may contains the wrong details or the information that are not able to fulfil the expectations or the objectives of the college or the organization. The relationship between personal and professional values of ethical living and learning One of the basic and the most important principle of APS code of ethics is the principle of respect and dignity. This principle focuses or gave emphasis on the communication of the respect for the other students and the staff members of the Australian College. The behaviour or the respect can be communicated through actions and the language of an individual. As this principle plays an essential and important role in the personal as well as in the professional life of every individual somewhere it is also related to my personal life (Dao, Xu and Liu, (2019). If I gave respect and dignity to other people then only I can expect the same in return. The ethical
behaviour help to interact with the number of people effectively. It is also helpful in my professional life as through this principle I can be able to learn the adequate behaviour with the other people. So, I can be able to interact or contact or communicate with more and more people effectively and also expects the respectful behaviour for them towards me. The principle of respect also teach me the qualities of a good and productive person that I can applied in my day to day life and also in the future. If I can behave in an adequate manner or properly with the other students and the staff members of the college, I can be able to attract the others. This will enhance or develop my personality and I can be the most favourable student among my teachers or the lecturers. This can also boost my confidence and motivates me to behave properly in front of others. In the future when I will choose my profession the principle of respect help me in order to maintain a healthy environment as well as the relations with my colleagues and also with the head of the department. The ways for developing and applying the ethical codes to work and study From the APS code of ethics I want to develop the main principle of ethical behaviour and loyalty. With the help of this principle I can be able to communicate with my friends, family and also with the other students in the college. In order to develop the ethical behaviour firstly I will control and manage my code of conducts or the behaviour according to the ethics which means in an adequate and proper manner (LaLonde and et.al., (2021). The main challenge that I faced in this context is that I cannot bear the misconduct and can not be able to control my aggression. So, in this way I will be responsible to violate or breach the rules and regulation towards the college. In this context I will try to develop my understanding by controlling on the aggressive side of my nature and also I can do meditation as well as yoga in order to keep myself calm. I will also take the help of my teachers so that they gave me the guidance or teach me the right path for the future. If I can be able to learn the ethical behaviour it will help me in my professional life as well as in my daily life as it will improve or reduce my bad qualities effectively and quickly. Developing a code of ethics is one of the essential and important thing in my life because by developing these codes I can imagine my growth, development and the success in my life (Rezaei and Zebardast, (2021). I will try or put my full efforts to not to breach any rules of the College and must follow the code of conduct related to the responsibilities of academics and also the general responsibilities.
CONCLUSION From the above discussion,it can be concluded that the comparison of the two codes explains some of the similarities as well as the dissimilarities between the two codes. It also shows the contrast of the codes. However, it can also be concluded that there are some advantages of the code of ethics regarding the respect, dignity, integrity, etc. that are helpful for the organization. On the other hand there are some disadvantages or the limitations of these ethical codes that may creates many problems in the smooth running of the institution. From the above report it can also be concluded that there are the basic principles of the code of ethics that must be followed by the organization so that it can be able to achieve the growth and the productivity of the institution. These principles are somewhere related to the personal or the professional life of an individual. Reflective statement about the development of the principle of the code of ethics. It can also be concluded that there are some of the major responsibilities of the students as well as the staff members of the organization that must be followed in order to serve the ethics or to behave in an ethical manner.
