A student report is different from an expert report. The Student report omitted closed-
loop communication skills, which the expert discussed it exhaustively. CLC enhances effective
communication by preventing misinterpretation and opens up a platform for understanding. As a
result, the patient is assured of safety and also prevents medical errors (El-Shafy et al., 2018).
Moreover, the student omitted the significance of trust in inter-professional collaboration
in his report. Trust enhances cohesion among teams, thus helping them to reach goals.
Furthermore, it improves job retention by increasing job satisfaction. Lack of trust in nursing
practice impacts patients and staff as the staff is unable to share information; thus, contributing to
nursing errors. If the staff trusts each other, employees are the greatest beneficiary of excellent
services; hence, the organization rips economic benefits.
Reflecting on learning
As highlighted by the expert report, the student understands effective communication and
teamwork and how it relates to the patients, members of staff, and the organization in general.
Effective communication helps the nursing team provide early intervention, improve clinical
practice, reduce medical errors, and enhance staff's satisfaction. Besides, effective
communication allows members of staff to reduce medical errors as well as improve medical
practice. The organization benefits by promoting a sustainable future and a good reputation. The
importance of CLC has been highlighted as it clarifies orders, reduces errors, improves patient
safety as well as increases the efficiency of completing tasks (El-Shafy et al., 2018). In the
future, I will consider CLC since it will enable me to clarify requests as well as prevent errors

that are bound to occur within the medical management team. Besides, CLC would allow me to
increase the speed with which I perform my task and also increase my effectiveness.
Besides, nonverbal skills such as facial expressions, gestures, eye contact, tonal variation,
and body language are important ineffective communication. Non-verbal skills help nurses
deploy early interventions, thus enhancing patient safety. Furthermore, nonverbal
communication enables nurses to form formidable teams when working. It also helps in
improving the ability of nurses to determine early interventions for patients, thereby promoting
patient safety and health. I will, in the future endeavor to use nonverbal and verbal
communication with patients and colleagues.
Tools of communication are vital for improved patient outcomes. Examples of
communication tools available for use in nursing practice include ISBAR handover, systematic
DRSABCD assessment tools, graphic aids, and charting. Whenever nurses need to pass
information during an emergency, they use these tools to promote the integrity and safety of the
information shared. As a result, they will be operating in tandem with the available professional
standards and provisions of the code of ethics. According to Al Sayah et al. (2014), health
professionals can recognize the signs of deteriorating health among patients. There is, therefore,
need for a more comprehensive systematic assessment to enhance patient care in the future. It
will personally help me avoid errors by following systematic approaches in the system.
We cannot overemphasize the importance of teamwork in nursing practice at it
improves patient safety and health outcomes. Through teamwork, adverse effects resulting from
miscommunication is reduced. Furthermore, teamwork enables nurses to understand their roles
