as follows: -
Effective Communication: - Communication is an essential characteristic of senior
manager. . The managers of Hilton Hotel consider, communication as an effective tool at
the workplace because it helps the individual in communication ideas and opinion to

ability. They adopt a open minded thinking approach which is necessary for today's
leaders to adopt with the motive of surviving in the competitive environment or scenario
(Fallon and Brown, 2016).
B. 1.3 Evaluation of Communication Process
It is a process that basically involves the three elements namely: - sender; message and
the receiver. Process of communication that prevails in Hilton Hotel are as follows: -
Sender: - Also known as the communicator that generates a message and conveys it to the
receiver in the organisation. In Hilton Hotel, the sender of the message is also termed as
the source from where the communication has been started (Hairand et.al., 2015).

Message: - It includes the idea, information, views; fact and the feeling that is generated
in the mind of sender with the intention of communicating the message to the ultimate
receiver.
Encoding: - It is a very crucial tool which helps in symbolically preventing the message.
It could be in any form either in picture form or text or in the form of gestures. But it is
used before conveying it to the target receiver (Hudriati and et.al., 2018).
Media: - It includes all those sources that are being used in communicating the message
to the receiver. The message could be communicated either with the help of emails;
telephones; internet, etc. Here, the chosen medium is completely of sender’s choice.
Decoding: - This step comes in the picture when the intended message has been received
by the ultimate target receiver. This process involves the conversion of encoded symbols
send by the sender in the message so that it could be readable.
Receiver: - The only person who is intended to receive the desired messages and for
whom the message has been prepared and send by the sender. He is the last person or the
target of this entire process. Once, the message has been received by the receiver and is

completely understood by him in the right perspective only then the purpose of sending
the message from the sender's side is successful (Kiu and et.al., 2017).
Feedback: - After the receiving of the message by the receiver a confirmation is being
given to the sender regarding a complete understanding of message in the right context.
Only then, this process of communication is considered as complete.
Noise: - It is the final element that plays the role of a disturbing element in the complete
process of communication.
The hotel had flat communication process where every person was allowed to
communicate with each other but only for the purpose of work.
B 1.4 Organisational culture and process of change which is taking place in Hilton Hotel
In Hilton Hotel the culture that is prevailing in the organisation is, Clan Culture. The
working culture of hotel is very friendly. The team leaders in this organisation are team builders.
The customers are very loyal and old tradition is being followed here in this organisation. Here,
Hilton Hotel focuses on the long term development of the human resources/workers/employees,
that are being recruited in the organisation. Hotel in the hospitality industry focuses on
teamwork; participation; and consensus. Quality improvement strategy which is being followed
over here is, workers and employees are communicating in a open way; having lot of
involvement at the workplace.

accomplishing the assigned task within the given time frame (Miller, 2017). Because I
know, how to arrange tasks as per their priorities in order to achieve the set goals in a
specific time period. I am also good in analysing the risks in different situations that help
me to develop good plan.

Communication: - I personally feel that, my communication skills are really good
because, I use some effective ways with the intention of getting the desired work done
from the colleagues and the subordinates at the work place. Communicating to the team
members effectively helps in resolving a lot of issues that arise on the workstation at
Hilton Hotel.
Decision Making: - My decision-making skills are quite good. Because, I am good in
making the quick decision by analysing the situation and also by using my experience if
it fits with the situation that has taken place in the organisation.
Delegation: - It refers to the downward pushing of the assigned task along with the
required authorities to complete the given work/task in the best way. I think I am having
this type of skill and I will improve it very soon so that, it would be helpful for me to get
the assigned task done with the help of my subordinates in the best and effective manner
(Reed; Baylyand Sellon, 2017).
Problem Solving: - It is such a skill and trait that I have and I am confident of. I am
having complete knowledge in respect of solving the issues and the problems that are
arising at the workplace because of some or the other reason. I am having knowledge
regarding this skill because in my previous workplace I used to solve the issues that, arise
and take place in the organisation. So, this skill is helping me in Hilton Hotel.
Coordinating: - I am good in this type of skill also by the score of, I know, at what time,
when and in respect the assigned work can be completed and also, when it would be
necessary to make coordination with the colleagues and also with the superiors at the
workplace. In my opinion by establishing proper coordination at workplace the goals can
be achieved more effectively.

calculations.
Relying easily on others.
Opportunities
For me it would be the best opportunity
to achieve a new height in the career in
the hospitality industry on the basis of
my skills.
Threats
My threat would be my competitors
who are having more knowledge and
experience than me in the hospitality
sector.
My computer knowledge and analytical
skills are not good.
B. 2.3 Setting and Prioritising the Objectives And Targets
Development Areas
My development areas includes my weaknesses and these are the steps that will really
help in overcoming the weaknesses and threats. That include gaining more of knowledge and
experience than the competitors in the hospitality sector. Improving the calculation part and
making it stronger.
With the motive of developing my personal potential it would be very important to
prioritising and set the goals with the intention of accomplishing the desired objectives and
achieving the set targets in an effective manner. Following are the steps to be considered: -
Establishing Clearer Goals: - It is very necessary to have a proper and clear
understanding of the goals that is being established by me whether at the workplace or at
the place of living (Shaner and O'Connor, 2017). The clearer the goals will be the more
easily the action plan will be followed. The first and foremost step taken by me in this
respect will be, I will start asking questions to myself in the respect of need for achieving
the goal; Secondly, focusing on what the goal is and steps I will take to chase that goal.
Finally, the resultant outcomes that will be acting as hindrance in achieving the goals.
This is my strength and it can be improved by getting interacted with the team members
at the workplace. Also, I am having positive attitude and decision making ability within
the organisation at time of meetings.
Document Page
Establishing The Priorities: - When the goal is to accomplish the multiple goals at a
single time, then, it will be necessary for me to prioritize and to determine the most
important goals and the reason behind achieving them. Taking such type of action will
help in maintaining a crystal-clear focus on the most important goals at first and after
that, on the steps that are required to be taken.
Creating A Timeline: - I will try to accomplish the assigned tasks within the given
deadline. By prioritising the assigned task and completing the assignment only on the
basis of importance. I will also make a note of completing the assigned task on the
priority and on the deadline of the project. Adding the timeline to the given task will
bring more and more complexity (Skålén and et.al., 2015). I am quite weak in making the
calculations and easily rely on others because of which unable to complete the assigned
task in the given time frame.
Keeping To-Do Lists: - By making the to do lists of assigned tasks, it would be helpful
for me to keep in mind the priorities and to complete the particular task within the time
frame. Secondly, when lot of priorities are there on the desk then, it would be quite
difficult for me to complete all of them at the same time. Not able to manage the tasks in
the manner it is assigned.
TASK 3
A.3.1 Leading and Motivating Team to Achieve Desired Goals
By undertaking some measures, following would be the best powerful and effective roles
that would going to prove effective in leading and motivating a hospitality team: -
Foster Collaboration Within the Team: - The employees of Hilton Hotel should be
encouraged and motivated in respect of working in unity and with a team spirit within the
hotel.
Avoiding Time Consuming Meetings: - Meetings that are consuming time should be
avoided and entire time should be invested in doing the work in a proper manner.
Complete focus would be made on meeting as and when necessary so that, unnecessary
wastage of time can be avoided and utilized towards completion of the work in an
effective manner. Not only this, on the basis of experience, Working will also be
improved in this way.

Setting Clear Goals:- Setting of clearer goals in order to achieve the organisational
objectives and on achieving them in the best manner with the motive of avoiding any sort
of mess (Smith and Wong eds., 2016).
Offering Wages To Employees On The Basis Of Their Worth:- Emphasis here would be
made on offering wages to all those employees that are having potential and calibre of
taking the existing organisation to a new height. By the score of, if an organisation wants
hold a grab on its employees then, it should offer them wages as demanded by the co-
workers.
Creating A Work Friendly Environment: - Creating such an environment in the
organisation through which the employees get motivated and feel encouraged in doing
their work in an effective manner. Along with this, best efforts would be made to create
an informal culture of work style in the hospitality industry with the motive of improving
the efficiency and also the effectiveness in the working style of co-workers.
Offering opportunities For Self-Development:- Here, a chance or any such opportunity
should be offered to the employees, that will help them in polishing their own skills and
to move ahead in the industry. Now, offering such type of development opportunities to
the staff members and also to the colleagues so that, they can reach to the new heights in
their career.
B. 3.2 Justify the Managerial Decision
The decisions taken by me in respect of achieving the agreed goals and objectives, are
completely true by the score of following reasons: -
By avoiding the time consuming meetings at the workplace, I would prefer completion of
assigned tasks in the best way and also engaging the co-workers in the accomplishment
of the assigned tasks to achieve the outcome in an effective and efficient way (Thomas
and Gupta, 2018).
Setting up of the clear goals: - Goals framed by me were very crystal clear and short
term. This enabled target-based working and helped employees in accomplishing
business goals on time and managing improvement in own performance as well. I feel I
could have assigned two tasks at a time in order to boots employees multitasking ability
without confusion.
Document Page
Offering wages on the basis of capability and skill set: - I kept in mind that all the
employees who are capable and having the required set of skills for performing the
assigned roles and responsibilities are offered the wages equally which helped in
reducing discrimination among workers working at same level.
Foster the collaboration within the team: - By taking team as a responsibility and
understanding the needs of the competitive world it is my duty to encourage team within
the organisation. It could be done in many ways like communicating the expectations of
the company to employees. In this my focus was on defining the roles and responsibilities
of each and every individual within the Hilton Hotel the goals can be achieved. Every
member of the team should understand their position in the company and also what is
required from them. Bets results will come only in one situation when every member of
the team takes responsibility.
Fostering a creative atmosphere: - I made efforts towards building of a creative
environment by encouraging and motivating the co-workers and the colleagues working
in Hilton Hotel. Along with this, doing some activities in the organisation like:
brainstorming; and doing question round by being completely non-judgemental.
Nurturing a “can do” attitude in the company. Build Cohesion: - Each and every member in the team is focused completely on taking
large decisions in respect of welfare of the company.
Recommendation
My recommendation in this respect is, as development manager I should have focused on
polishing the skills and the abilities in such a way, that it improvises the working capabilities of
the manager so that goals can be achieved more effectively (Yang, Lan and Zhao, 2017). I feel I
should have concentrated on analysing personal development goals of employee which could
have helped in managing personal and professional development of workers.

development of all the co-workers and the employees that are working in the organisation: Hilton

order to accomplish the desired goals. My skills like: thinking in a logical manner and
doing negotiation with the business clients and having technical knowledge and having
