I. Introduction and explanation of PESTEL framework
PESTEL analysis can be defined as a framework that can be implemented by the
marketers in order to examine different macro-environment based factors that has an
influence on the organization. The use of PESTEL framework is mainly based on the ways by
which the organizations are able to develop the strategies that can be implemented in the new
areas of their operations (Daspit et al. 2017). The threats that can be faced by the organization
in different countries are considered to be major aspects related to the analysis that is made
with the help of proper usage of the PESTEL framework. The organizations can gain
immense levels of profitability after expansion with the help of proper implementation of
PESTEL framework (Demir, Wennberg & McKelvie, 2017).
II. Application of strategy
Political factors – The political risks in Australia are able to affect the policies and
regulations that are developed by Coles. The intellectual property based rights are able to
affect the ways by which policies of Coles can be protected. The trade policies have an
impact on costs of production of Coles (Coles.com.au 2019).
Economic factors – The GDP of Australia has an impact on future growth based
activities of Coles. The interest rates have an impact on the prices of products or services.
Social factors – The demographic levels of the population based on genders and ages
have an impact on the product lines of Coles. The demands of consumers can affect the prices
of products as well (Durand, Grant & Madsen, 2017).

Technological factors – The recent developments in technology have been able to
affect the ways by which Coles can improve the levels of services that are offered by the
organization to the customers.
Environmental factors – The changes that have taken place in weather conditions
have the ability affect the transportation of the resources that have been gained by the
organization. The production processes are also affected by the changes that have taken place
in external environment (Dyer et al., 2015).
Legal factors – The laws based on intellectual property and data protection are able to
affect the ways by which regulations can be developed by Coles. The health and safety based
laws have an impact on the operations of Coles (Hill, Jones & Schilling, 2014).

I. Introduction and explanation of SWOT framework
SWOT analysis framework is mainly used by the organizations in order to analyse the
internal organizational environment in a detailed manner. This is a strategic planning based
technique that can be used in order to analyse the ways by which the organizations are able to
identify their strengths and weaknesses in an effective manner (Hubbard, Rice & Galvin,
2014). The most important part of the SWOT framework is that the organizations are also
able to analyse the opportunities and threats that are provided by the external environment.
This framework can be implemented by the organizations in order to analyse the ways by
which changes need to be made in the strategies implemented by the organizations for the
purpose of increasing the profitability levels (Kasemsap, 2014).
