evaluation the research regarding the sustainable development of the destination needs
to be performed that will measure for both the sustainability as well as the
competitiveness of the nation (Rotondo and Fadda, 2018). Sustainable tourism
development of a destination will not only add long-term viability for the destination
within the global platform but will also provide for a solution that will enable the
prevention of the environmental resources, bring about social development, respect
the local culture, and will also bring about the economic while considered at the
international level.
The evaluation and management of tourist destination performance has become a vital
factor both within the private as well as the public sectors administrations. This will
not only provide for the access to the competitiveness that has been attained by the
destination regarding marketing but will also provide for the sustainable development
brought about within the destination. Although measuring sustainability is a very
complex and critical concept, yet with the growth in the sustainability paradigm
across the entire globe the presence of sustainable tourism has become a major focus
across the entire globe. Thus while Sydney has been considered as the destination
within this project, it is not only sufficient for the destination to add economic value
for attainment of competitiveness and sustainability. The effective assessment of the

Detailed Discussion Of The SWOT Analysis
After some research it has been found that the major strengths of Sydney has
remained that it has been one of the favourite destination for the backpackers and
possess a world class nature and safe environment that can be very much appealing
for the travellers. The travellers can enjoy the climate, sea beaches, Australian
wildlife, and avail luxurious facilities during their visits to the destination.
The low crime rate, stable political system, better road and communication system,
and enhanced standard of health care facilities offered within the destination also adds
to the strength of Sydney.
Another strength possessed by this destination especially for the tourists is the
availability of the Working Holiday Visa. This enables the visitors to work and earn
money before visiting, after visiting, or during their stay at Sydney. This enables the
visitors to have enhanced access to financial resources during their visit to the place
and this is in turn also beneficial for the Australian economy as a whole as they can
earn greater (Mason, 2015). These facilities have enabled Sydney to draw visitors
from the distinct corners of the globe and have generated new revenue stream within
the economy. The strengths of the destination also includes the highly skilled
workforce that provides for enhanced support and services to the visitors visiting this
nation.
The weaknesses that has been sketched for Sydney includes the expensiveness. This is
truly an expensive destination for the visitors to avail. The cost of living in Sydney is

very much high. Added to that the investments made for research and development
within the destination is enough (Liu, et al., 2019). But somehow these investments
has till date not been able to bring about the adequate results. The innovations that has
been made about within this destination has till date not been able to compete with
other leading players operating within the global platform. The Sydney as a
destination is a very busy and well known destination and there are numerous
travellers within the globe visiting this destination. In such a situation it is very
difficult for the travellers to find the adequate accommodation and hostels within
Sydney during their travel on an urgent basis. However another weakness of this
destination is the huge distances that needs to be covered by the travellers while
visiting from one destination to another within the city (Fatanti and Suyadnya, 2015).
This immense distance in between the distinct attractive destinations makes it very
hectic to go for a short trip or visit to Sydney.
The opportunities that are available for the tourism industry of Sydney includes
targeting the emerging economies within the Asian sub continent and attract them for
making visits to Sydney. The Asian people have been found to make enhanced
spending while they are travelling. This expenditure can be grabbed by the Sydney
tourism sector and can be beneficial for the overall Australian economy.

Thus it can be seen from the figure above that Asia has been the continent that has
faced the enhanced increase in the GDP over the years. So, drawing the consumers
from the Asian continent can be a major scope for the development of Sydney.
While considering the Australian economy, then that can be considered to be the
eighth largest tourism industry within the globe and Sydney is a major destination
within the Australian tourism industry(Amin, et al., 2018). So it is very much likely

that there are immense scope for making further business investments in this
destination looking for the profitability an popularity of the tourism industry. The
other business investment made within this destination can promote their businesses
to the visitors and thereby bring about growth in their business operations.
The lower inflation rate and the stability of cash flow within the nation has brought
about opportunities fr the market of Sydney to make investment in the new product
segments and develop within those sectors. The lower inflation rate also enables the
customers to get access to credit at the lower interest rates and serves to be an
incentive for them to visit the destination (Kaurav, et al., 2015).
Finally, while considering for the major threats that has been faced by Sydney as a
tourist destination at the present moment includes the exposure of the Australian
economy to the currency fluctuations and that is causing frequent changes in the
exchange rate which at times becomes a major difficulty for the travellers and they try
to avoid the destination. Also the environmental regulations that has been brought
about by the Paris agreement (2016) can bring about major threats for the destination
as there are plans for the new business investments within the destination. Also while
numerous tourists and visitors visit Sydney for distinct purposes, then the
environmental issues related to infrastructure and garbage has been a major threat that
has been faced by the tourism sector of Sydney as well as the travellers visiting the
destination (Utama, 2016). The wastes being generated from the overcrowded
destination of Sydney are becoming a major threat to be managed by the government
as well as the tourism sector. These issues creates the problem of pollution, and
congestion and thereby hampers the natural beauty of the destination.
Conclusion And Recommendations For Further Improvisation
At present Sydney is a very famous destination across the globe that focuses on the
interests of the tourists and provides scope for them to make repeated visits to this
destination for spending a quality time away from the regular stress. Also this is a
vital business destination of the globe and millions of visitors travel to Sydney for
meeting their business requirements. The pleasant climate and safe environment of
Sydney is one of the major reasons that attracts the tourists to this destination from
across the globe. In such a situation it is the responsibility of the tourism sector of
Sydney to ensure safer environment and cleanliness to the travellers. The beaches
