excessive government control can hamper tourist industry negatively because tourist have to
follow more legal policies. Local vendors also have to become aware about changes in tourism
sector. This assist in maintaining good culture at tourist destination. There are many non-
government organisations which are dealing with concept of sustainability because this is major
issue with which society is dealing. If this is not considered in current market, then in future
there is problem in near future (Guiver and McGrath, 2017).

Role of Trailfinder in planning sustainable holiday packages
There is important role of tour operators to plan sustainable impact of tourism activities.
According to Butzmann and Job, 2017 Tour operators are the link through which concept of
sustain tourism development can be provided to visitors. For instance: visitors gets register under
Trailfinder then in this case managers has to provide complete information about environmental
prospectives and safety measures related to cleanliness, fine in case of mistreatment with
animals, etc. This makes clear image in mind of visitors and they do not conduct any
misconduct. This is beneficial for maintaining sustainable prospects in mind of consumers.
Operators of Trailfinder have to communicate regarding cultural values, ethics, etc. of local
community while visiting any traditional place such as church, regarding festivals , etc.
But sometimes employees of Trailfinder does not have knowledge about environmental

organisations place crucial role in growth and development of tourism sector. As per change in
plans and policies, these organisations have to be informed because they act as link between
tourist and implementation of sustainable strategies.
When tourist saw that there is specific culture at destination, then they are ready to accept

CHAPTER 3: RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Research is the in- depth study about topic with investigation through different sources.
There are some tools and techniques which are required to consider in order to get positive
outcome (Towner, 2016). These tools and techniques are studied under research methodology
chapter. In order to make clear understanding about research topic, a frame work is considered
i.e. Research Onion.
Techniques which are considered under research methodology is discussed as under-
Research philosophy: Research philosophy is the theoretical aspect which provides idea
about way in which data about research topic can be gathered and analysed. There are three types
of research philosophy: pragmatism, positivist and interpretivist. In this research pragmatism is
used because this is the way through which information about sustainable tourism is collected in
systematic and authentic manner (Mitchell, Font and Li, 2015). With use of pragmatism
philosophy, there is emphasise on major aspects which might affects research outcome. So
covering all information is beneficial for achieving aims and objectives. Pragmatism philosophy
have main focus on core aspects which might affect outcome of study.
Research approach: Research approach is the way in which step to step analysis is done
regarding form in which research is conducted. There are two types of research approach:
deductive and inductive (Snyman and Spenceley, 2012). In this research deductive approach is
used because it considers crucial and related article of research topic. So it is easy to consider all
the the important article related to research topic. Apart from this deductive approach is suitable
with qualitative research method so whole study will be completed in synchronise manner. This
study is on concept of sustainability which is different and new, so it is essential to cover ever
aspect properly.
Data collection: Data collection is the method through which information is collected
from different sources for the purpose of providing interpretation and conclusion. There are two
types of data collection method: primary and secondary (Cerutti and et. al., 2016). Primary
information is collected by researcher from respondents. Hence there is one to one interaction
among them. This method is time consuming because in this information is collected through
from number of respondents (Morgan, 2012). Primary information is more authentic and relevant
for this investigation because this provides personal views of respondents, so it is easy to get
proper recommendations and conclusions over it. Primary information is collected with different

outcome (Towner, 2016).
19
methods such as questionnaire, survey, personal interview, etc. in this investigation,
questionnaire is most appropriate because this topic is relevant regarding future benefits. There
are some set of questions related to concept of sustainability and its impact on future.
While in secondary data information is collected with the help of online sources, books,
journals, newspaper, etc. This is collected by some some else so it might to old. In this research
both the methods are used to collect in- depth information about strategies of sustainability in
tourism sector of UK. Secondary information is collected through internet sources because this
creates base for enhancing knowledge about sustainable tourism. Secondary information is
collected from sources which are properly dated and authentic. With use of both primary and
secondary research method, it is easy for researcher to provide recommendations and
conclusion over it (Tyrväinen and et. al., 2014).
Research methods: Research is long time process and it is done to get complete
information about some topic or deal with issues which is occurring in society, so there is
specific method under which investigation is done. There are two methods to conduct research
qualitative and quantitative method. In this research qualitative research method is used because
this is the way in which information is presented in graphs an charts. This provides justification
about specific view of respondents over research topic. There is no use of mathematical concept
due to which it is not tough for reader to understand it. Hence this method makes study study
accurate and relevant for future use (Borne and Ponting, 2015).
Research Design- There is specific design in which investigation is done because this
provides clear understanding about research to reader. There are three types of research design
i.e. descriptive, experimental and exploratory. In this study, descriptive research design is used
because this provides complete and in- depth description about all the concepts covered in study.
So this design is better for getting proper understanding about concept of sustainability.
Sampling: Sampling is the process through which some respondents are selected for the
purpose of getting their views. In investigation sampling is important because it is not possible to
collect views from all respondents, so under it some candidates are selected (Butzmann and Job,
2017). Sampling is the process in which few number of respondents are selected for the purpose
of collecting view about sustainability of tourism in UK. Their view is base for whole
population. There are two methods of sampling: probability and non probability sampling. In this
research Simple Random Probable sampling is used as probability sampling because this
20
questionnaire is most appropriate because this topic is relevant regarding future benefits. There
are some set of questions related to concept of sustainability and its impact on future.

20
provides bias free data (Smith. and Diekmann, 2017). As in this method, there is equal
possibility of being collected, hence possibilities of biasness is nil.
Research Ethics- This investigation is conducted with considering proper and relevant
concept. Hence information gathered in this investigation is confidential as it is communicated
to individuals who they are required. Anonymity is maintained by not sahring personal
information of respondents. There is informed consent of respondents because candidates have
complete knowledge about reason behind collecting information and conducting investigation.
Hence this study is completed in ethical manner (Cerutti and et. al., 2016).
Resources: There is requirement of some resources to conduct research such as financial
assistance, internet connect, newspapers, magazines, computer system, etc. With these research
data can be collected properly and stored in authentic and reliable manner (Mowforth and Munt,
2015). There are different resources used by a researcher to complete dissertation in more
effective and systematic manner. For this, cost, time, communication etc. are consider major
resources which will assist an investigator to successfully do each activities of research.
Time scale: Time to conduct an research can be analysed with the help of Gantt Chart.
This is the technique which shows pictorial representation in vertical form, this shows different
research activities such as introduction, aims and objectives, literature review with their
respective time (Eijgelaar and et. al., 2016). This research is conducted within 8.4 weeks.

for conducting investigation effectively. Throughout this investigation I have faced several issues
such as time and cost are very limited, respondents are not agreed to reply effectively, some
respondents has provided wrong information etc. but despite of all this I tried my best to perform
