This paper examines the M80 Ring Road Upgrade project in Victoria State and the decision of the Hyder Construction Company to tender for the project. The factors considered include the experience of the company, the strategic goals, the company’s competitiveness and the terms of the contract. The project is categorized as among the major projects in Australia and is estimated to cost 2.25 billion US dollars. The paper also looks at the competition from other companies and the contract terms.
