When describing a senior citizen, it must be noted that their ageshould be over 65 years old. In some places the services given to the elderly does not conform tothis age limit. Some benefits like special seats in transport, which is just for the elderly is used topeople who are than 55 years of age1. In recent years, emphasis is given to early interventions and a healthy environment forelderly people. During the 1990s, the government of New South Wales and Victoria weregranting pensions to the people whose ages were over 65. Soon after that, the Commonwealthgovernment got responsibility of the payments which were within the jurisdiction of citizensover the age of 652. Even so, the people who were over the age of 60 were incapable of handlingnormal workload. The pension was then tested and from 1910 it was made available to eligiblewomen of over 60 years of age. Aged Care Awards is given to people that give thebest possible care to improve the lives of the residents. Awards are given for doing somethingthat acts as an example for other old-age homes and encourages them to better their own care andservices4. Homes can likewise self-assign their undertakings for the better practice in Aged CareAwards. To be qualified for the honors, homes need met the set accreditation measures for in anyevent the past two years.There are many on-site support facilities which involve daily meal services. It is notessential that the meals be prepared in situ, some arrangements can be made with another foodproviding service5. There residents also have flexibility in the amount, and therefore costs for thepersonal assistance they purchase. Most residents require assistance only with housework such asheavy laundry, changing sheets and vacuuming which are physically more difficult. Someresidents just require help with shopping.
