INTRODUCTIONThe term health promotion is a type of process that aware the people about their health. This process includes three components such as health education, service improvement andadvocacy. For the purpose of improving awareness among people, both government and privateagencies take appropriate steps. Present report covers the concept about health promotion.Further, it helps to understand the effects of socio-economic influences on health and models ofhealth promotion. It also includes different models and factors that are included in healthpromotion. Along with that, report describes the concept about developing promotionalcampaign to meet the objectives which are defined in the given case scenario.TASK 11.1 Effects of socioeconomic influences on health The term socio-economics defines the way in which activities related to economy areshaped and affected by social processes. It includes few factors such as income, employmentstatus, education level, housing, lifestyle choices and surrounding environment, etc. It isevaluated that due to socio-economic factors, people start suffering with different types of healthrelated issues. In this context, there are also other factors like lifestyle choices, access to healthcare facilities and discrimination which also affects the health of people. In society, improvementin these factor could improve the health conditions in people (Prestin, Lyons and Wen, 2013). Inpresent scenario, many people are unemployed due to their lower level of education. In thissituation, when people are unemployed, they do not have enough money to buy shelter and food. So, in homeless condition and without having proper meal, their health gets affected. In society, people with low income sources are not able to access few things like education, nutritious foodsand health care facilities, etc. (Glanz, Rimer and Su, 2005). The unfavorable working conditionswith low income directly affect the health of an individual like stress related to life and finance. There are also chances of health consequences like immune system issues, circulatorycomplications and sudden fall or rise in blood pressure. In reverse condition, people who havehigh level of education, income, lifestyle choices and good surrounding environment arehealthier as compared to others because they are able to have nutritious food and can access thehealth care facilities on time.1

1.2 Relevance of government sources in reporting on inequalities in health To improve the awareness about health among people, UK government takes manyinitiatives to tackle the inequalities in health. In order to convey the health related messages, government uses banners, hoardings newspaper and mass media. To find out the differences inhealth status, few sources are used such as black report 1980, Acheson report 1998, HALS, HSFand Marmot report 2010, etc. In 1998, a report named Acheson was published which defines thepresence of disparities among people that are related to various social classes. This report definesthe relationship between social class and health disparities. This Acheson report stated that in anoverall manner, morality rate is low but from all social classes, the upper class is facing rapiddecline in their morality. In the similar way, one more document named Skadon Mavro Report in1980 describes the division of people in five classes (Edelman, Mandle and Kudzma, E201).This report stated that in class 5, death rate was the highest like just double of class 1 rate. It wasexpected that after introduction of welfare state, the gap between class 1 & 5 should be reducedbut it was continuously increasing. This document is also known as black report. For the purposeof health promotion activities, government also carries out few surveys like health and life stylesurvey, census and health survey for England. These surveys were carried out to gain theinformation about improvement in health conditions. Further, in the survey of census, eachfamily member was calculated as a single unit. With the help of this survey, it was found thatmost of the people were dead just because of cancer.1.3 Reasons for barriers to access health careThere are few factors present which act as a barrier to access the health care facilities. These factors are like low income, lack of resources, physical issues, cultural factors, trust anddegree of education, etc. In this context, lack of communication also acts as a barrier becausewhen parents do not give proper guidance to their children then there are more chances that theyfall in improper and wrong activities. In society, it is also seen that many people just ignore theirhealth condition and assume it as a normal situation. Further, it is also analyzed that people withlow income sources do not prefer to consult doctors because they do not have enough money topay the fees of health professionals (Bullen and Walker, 2013). People from lower social classbackgrounds have poor health outcomes because they are not fully aware about health carefacilities which are available at low cost and free from government side. In this context, physicaldisabilities also act as a barrier because these types of vulnerable people are not able to reach at2
