COLONIALISM1Imperialism refers to the policy that pertains to the involvement of a nation in theextension of the power of the concerned nation by acquiring foreign lands by the variousprocesses that might include the employment of the diplomatic strategies, the force of the militiathat has been serving the concerned nation and by the method of the purchase of the concernedlands (Mattingly 2013). The concept of imperialism differs from the concept of the colonialismthough both the concepts are often confused to be similar to each other (Cain and Hopkins 2014).The concept of colonialism states that the policy as adopted by the concerned polity aims to dealwith the ability of the concerned polity to bring about an extension or the retention of theauthority of the concerned polity over the other territories and the residents of the area. Theconcept of colonialism generally aims to develop or exploit the residents of the colony in order tohelp in the development of the colonizing polity (Lehning 2013). The colonization also aims tobring about a modernization in the colony as per the definition of the term by the colonizers witha major focus on the economics of the country, the health of the residents of the country and thereligion that is majorly followed within the country (Altbach 2015). The following essay dealswith the various strategies adopted by the colonizers and proceeds further to discuss on thevarious countries that were affected by the colonizing processes. The essay continues to discussthe reasons for the colonization in the concerned countries and nears its end with a discussion onthe various consequences that resulted from the colonization of the concerned countries withmore stress on the economic consequences that were faced by the residents of the concerned areathat was facing the colonization by the comparatively powerful polity.The concerned political entity that is known to have been colonized a foreign land orterritory needs to implement various strategies in order to complete the concerned process. Themajor intent of concerned colonizers in all times is the development of the colonizing polity with

The major strategyadopted by the colonizers might therefore refer to the proposed economic development of thecolonized territory. The colonizers, however also adopted the strategies that had led to theimplementations and the employment of the various ways of development of the concernedcolony. The other strategies that are observed to have been put to use by the concernedcolonizers are the strategies that deal with the conquering of the concerned areas of the foreignlands by the implementation of the military forces of the colonizing polity (Goddeeris 2014).This strategy has been observed to deal with the various matters that are related to the transfer ofthe administrative power of the concerned territory or state into the hands and control of thecolonizers of the land. The colonization strategies that were followed during the modern timestended to involve the matters that pertain to the signing of the trade treatise in the initial stages.This might further continue to deal with the settlements of the concerned colonizers within theboundaries of the concerned lands. The colonizing of the various countries might initiate fromthe treatise of the development of the concerned country that has been colonized however, withthe passage of time the colonizing entity tends to become oppressive for the native residents ofthe concerned countries thereby leading to the conditions that pertain to the oppression of thenative people who have been residing in the concerned country prior to the arrival of thecolonizers to the land. The major strategies that are implemented by the colonizers of the landare the matters that are related to the exploitation of the concerned native people of the countryin order to bring about an improvement of the economic conditions of the concerned colonizingpolity.
