CONCEPTS IN COMMUNITY HEALTH 2
Introduction
The report is about the epidemiology concepts related to nursing and applied
behaviour of the communicable disease. Mononucleosis is a communicable and
infectious problem and is also known as glandular fever. Most people are infected by
this disease especially children with the produce of disease with their symptoms.
Mononucleosis is present due to a solution of Lymphocytes in the main bloodstream.
It grows faster in all people if there is a presence of symptoms in the body. There are
two forms of this disease as CMV Mononucleosis and Glandular fever (Infectious
mononucleosis, 2019). The report tells about the disease and their chain of
infections with the help of centers for prevention and disease control. There are
various methods which are to be taken for better prevention and safety.
Task-1
Mononucleosis is a contagious problem and it is also named as mono. The
main cause of this disease is presence of Epstein Barr virus in the body, but there
are various other causes too. In young adults, it is more affected and results in
tiredness, fever, enlarged lymph nodes in the neck and sore throats (Infectious
Mononucleosis, 2019). It may take two or three weeks to recover from this disease,
but it sometimes it took months to recover. This virus is known as human herpes
virus 4 which is member of family and that causes these diseases. The disease
spread through saliva, sharing drinking glasses or toothbrushes. The infected person
can spread this disease weeks before symptoms developed in the body.
There are various symptoms of this infection mononucleosis and that appears
for three to four weeks if gets infected with EBV. The symptoms develop in a slow
manner and may occur at the same time. These symptoms include fever, rash,
swollen liver, spleen, head or body aches, lymph nodes in armpits and extreme
fatigue. The enlarged swollen liver is the less common symptoms present in the
body. Most of the people are affected in their liver or spleen, but with the time it may
get enlarged even with the fatigue ends (Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), 2019).
There are various modes of transmission of this disease from one person to
another as bodily fluids, which is generally related to saliva. They are also
transmitted through semen or blood during organ transplantations, sexual contact or
transfusions in blood. It is the most common virus founded throughout the world.
This is also caused due to human cytomegalovirus and it is another type of herpes
virus. This is a silent virus because the symptoms and signs can be only felt by an
infected person. This is transmitted through saliva with the period of incubation of
more than seven weeks. The period of time or length depends upon chances of
passing with illness to someone in highest during six weeks following infections.
Most of the research studies also tell about spreading across months or years
(Epstein Barr and Infectious Mononucleosis, 2019).
