a) Explain the issue.
Autism cab be termed as disorder which restricts the ability of an individuals to interact in an
effective manner. The individuals suffering from the concerned disease tend to exhibit repetitive
behaviour and the dialect is also adversely impacted by the same.
b) Who may be affected.
The early symptoms and signs of Autism are most commonly found in children. According to the
statistics males are at a higher risk of feeling affected by the disease in comparison to females as
the ratio depicts 3 :1.
c) How you can identify this issue.
Behavioural changes such as avoiding eye contact, impulsive nature etc. Development issues
such as lack of speech (Guan, at.al, 2020, ). Cognitive symptoms such as reduced interest of
children in participating in majority of activities and other issues such as irritation with loud
noises and sounds, excessive anxiousness and symptoms of anxiety.

Choose one (1) stage of development throughout the life span and discuss four (4) of the bio-
psychosocial developments that occur as this stage.
Late adulthood is the last stage of life span. In this particular stage, the capacity and the ability of
the brain to function in an optimum manner reduces (AprilMiller and Goodman, 2020). The
physical appearance of the individuals also starts to decline i.e. greying of hair, weakened bones,
wrinkles etc. The ability of the individuals to remember important details and points re4duces
and they may suffer from issues pertaining to gradual loss of memory. In the respective stage, the
individuals are not able to take severe stress. Their sensitivity towards the family tends to
increase. They start craving for care, support from their loved ones as well. In late adulthood, the
individuals highly concentrates upon the subjective well being and their ability to for connect
and relationship also improves to a larger extent.

a) Identify two (2) of the theories of life span development.
The two major prominent theories of life span management can be charactered as Attachment
Theory and Therapeutic Relationship.
b) Explain what each theory looks like.
Attachment theory can be characterised as a psychological theory that highlights upon the
importance of good relationship among individuals. The theory reflects on the concept that in
order to facilitate the growth of children at a young age, it is very essential for them to form
reliable relationships with their respective parents.
Therapeutic Relationships can be termed as the relationship that are built for a purpose. It can be
defined as relationship between an individual that is suffering from any sort of mental or
physical concern and a healthcare individual or a therapist that is involved in the treatment of the
concern faced by the individuals.
c) List some of the differences between the two theories.
The major difference between both the theories is that Attachment theory is based upon the
relationships that are build without any hidden motive or purpose and a pure bond is shared
between the children and the respective guardian whereas therapeutic relationships are
established for a reason that is providing solutions to the clients or the patients that are in need
for the same.

You are a working with a client who demonstrates signs of a dismissive-avoidant attachment
style. Answer the following:
a) Identify three (3) of the behaviours they might display.
 The individuals suffering from the respective condition may lack sense of responsibility.
 The Dismissive avoidance attachment persuades the individuals to be less empathetic
towards other (Lee and Kwon, 2020).
 They love to stay alone and does not feel like engaging and interacting with their family
and friends any more.

b) How might this attachment style impact on the professional relationship with this client?
Th professional relations with a client suffering from Dismissive avoidant attachment can be
very difficult at time as the client may not respond to the peers after the work hours. The
communication issues may lead to various misunderstanding that can hamper the working
rapport and relations at the workplace (Lyon, 2020). Handling the fluctuations in the moods of
the client can become very tedious and people might refuse to collaborate with the client in the
future as well.

a) Clarify one (1) factor that can have an impact on development.
Hormones can be characterised as factor can have major impact on the development of an
individuals throughout his/her life span.
b) Explore what these effects are. (45-60 words)
The fluctuations in the hormone may lead to constant mood swings within an individual. The
physical as well as mental growth of the individual can also be impacted due to the same. The
blood pressure level as well as the metabolism of the individuals can also be effected to due to
the hormonal regulation in the body of a human being.

a) Provide two (2) services that are suitable for people with a developmental disorder (one
physical and one intellectual).
 In order to treat psychological disorders, various advanced physiotherapies can be
incorporated in the treatment.
 Intellectual disorders can be treated through indulgence of the patients in various
psychological intervention in which therapies related with communication, recognition
and identification of familiar things can be practised and implemented with the patients.
b) Identify two (2) examples of an issue that may arise for a client with a developmental
disorder when accessing these services.
 The inability of the clients to respond to the stimulus that is provide through the
optimisation of the services.
 The incompetency of the individuals providing the service to deliver the respective in an
appropriate manner and in accordance with the current health condition of the concerned
client.

a) Clarify one (1) risk factor for those identified with a developmental disorder, either physical
or intellectual.
The major risk can considered to be the tendency of the client to harm himself/herself. Self harm
can be termed the most common risk factor that is associated with the individuals who are
facing development disorder issues. Due to the inability to explain themselves and to meet the
basic requirement, the individuals try to harm themselves out of frustration and stress.
Sometimes the family and closed ones can also come under the radar of the patients and they can
be aggressive with them as well.
b) Explain the impact this might have on an individual and the resulting effect. (45-60 words)
Self Harm can lead to severe injuries within the patients and their underlying health condition
may also worsen due the same (Roy, and Walsh, 2020). This can make a very serious impact
physical health as well. The resulting effect can be characterised as the feeling of guilt and
regret. The individual self esteem as well as self confidence can also be effected due to the
respective factor.

a) Describe the impact that our own values and beliefs can have when interacting and
supporting clients.
If the interaction with the clients is facilitated with politeness and courtesy, they will become
more open and will be able to express their feelings without any fear or hesitation. In order to
support the clients in an good manner, it is very essential for the individuals to be very optimistic
and committed to the clients in order motivate them to work towards their recovery.
b) Provide an example, from your work or personal life, where there has been a conflict or
impact arising from your values or beliefs or from those of another person.
When I met one of my extended family member at a family function and engaged in a
conversation with the same, I realised that he had unusual thoughts and suicidal tendencies. I
listen to him patiently and advised him to consult a therapist in order to vent out his emotions in
a deliberate manner and engage himself in recreational activities that can align his current energy
in a positive manner towards his life goal.

c) What can you do to prevent values or beliefs from impacting your work.
In order to reduce the implications of values and beliefs on my work, I would like to focus on the
positive aspects of the situation and would try to calm myself in complex situations.
Scenario:
You are a Community Service worker at a Salvation Army centre. A client comes into your
centre requesting assistance for food. She informs you that she has been living with her two
children (aged 9 and 11) in a caravan in the middle of the bush for four months now. She is
hiding from her husband who can be violent. She explains that she needs enough food to last
them a month as they only leave the caravan once a month to get more food.

Explain why this case would classify as mandatory reporting, with specific reference to relevant
legislation that classifies this case as significant risk. Be sure to list the signs and indicators of
significant issues within this case.
It is essential to report the respective case because the life of the mother and her child is at risk.
According to the Safety and Health Management Act, it is mandatory for the community service
worker or their individuals engaged in the same line of service to report the cases related to
domestic violence in order to intervene and lead further action on the same. The significant
issues that can identified through this case are as follows :-
 Risk to the life of the mother as well as her child.
 The inability to go out and earn a livelihood will result in poverty which can lead to
major impact on the health of the child.
 The domestic violence can lead to serious harm to the mother and the children as well.
 The fear of the mother can result in major anxiety and mental issue which can hamper her
life as well as she will also not be able to take care of her child in an effective manner.
 Every individual has a right to live without fear. Hence, the respective right needs to be
served to the individuals and the promotion of health as well as safety needs to
implemented in a sustainable manner.

Describe the process or reporting that you would follow as the worker of this case.
In order to report the above mentioned case, I would indulge in a detailed conversation with the
mother in order to gain insights about her past experiences with the husband and what action

should she like to take against her husband and what are expectations from the future. I will be
observing her behaviour consistently and on the basis of my observation, I will be forming
various derivatives from the same (Bengwasan and Bancual, 2020) .
I would reporting the scenario of the respective case to my head of department and will provide
them an overview about the current condition of the mother and her children. I will be writing an
application in the department incorporating all the essential specification of the case carefully
and will be mailing it to my departmental head.

Describe the process of documenting this case, including case notes and other documents.
Documentation of the case needs to be facilitated in an organised manner in order define the
specification of the case study appropriately and effectively. In order to document the specific
case, it is essential to determine the objective and goal of the case. The details about the active
participants of the case will be projected (Jaworski and Patel, 2020). The current condition of
the mother and the child that needs to be rescued needs to be mentioned during the
documentation of the case. The location of the respective individuals involved in the case will be
projected as well. The questionnaire document also needs to be included in the documentation
statement. The other necessary data analytics as well as case notes need to be reflected in a clear
and systemic way so that essential outcomes can be realised through the same.

As a Community Services worker, describe your legal obligations in regards to mandatory
reporting.
The reporting of the case needs to be conducted in accordance with legal obligations that has
been formulated in order to guide the reporting standards of the community service workers.
Maintenance of confidentiality can be considered as the major obligation that needs to be
fulfilled y the community service worker. It means that community service worker should keep
the information and data related to themselves respective case with full secrecy and no parts of
the case should be disclosed to the other individuals who are not involves in the case.
Informed consent is also an essential legal obligation that needs to be met in order to document
the case. The consent of the individual involved in the respective case needs to be taken in order
to lead the further action and intervention pertaining to the case.

Background / overview of the client’s case that you have prepared.
Jack is a boy in his middle childhood span living with his parents. He is suffering from dyslexia.
Dyslexia can be termed as disorder that restricts the capacity of the individuals to read in an
effective manner as they find its very problematic to recognise the sounds of the speech. Jack
daily visits the healthcare homes and speech schools in order to treat his medical concern.
The service providers at the the medical centres treat a bunch of students suffering from the same
condition at a single time. Due to this, sometimes less attention is provided on the development
and growth of Jack. He sometimes gets agitated due to his inability to read and to command over
the speech and starts sobbing. The parents are really tensed about his current situation and wants
to seek help from other advanced and prominent healthcare sources outside the city as well in
order to facilitate his treatment in a more effective manner. They are planning to move to another
city in order to start the treatment of Jack in a well established health care centre wherein the
service providers will be able to take proper care of Jack and will provide him with the required
attention.
Question 2
Outline the questions you prepared to ask the client, before the session, in order to assess their
developmental issue. If you decide to apply an existing assessment tool, be sure to also submit
this.
The below mentioned questions needs to be inquired from the parents of the client :-
 What is the current age of the client ?
 When did the parents started noticing that the client has dyslexia ?
 What are the major symptoms faced by Jack and how does he react to the same ?
 What is the current concentration level of the child ? What are his hobbies and interest
areas ?
 What is the daily routine and schedule of the child and hoe much time is devoted to his
therapy ?
 What are the trigger points of Jack ?
 What are the other behaviour tendencies and concerns of Jack ?
In order to assess the Jack, tests related to work reading efficiency i.e.,
(TOWRE) will be undertaken in order to identify the current reading ability of the child. The

respective test will also help in formulation as well as implementation of the strategies and
therapies in order to promote the growth and development of Jack during his treatment.

Explain how you identified the client’s developmental status, considering the specific behaviours
that were evident, and how these differed to the norm.
In order to determine the developmental status of the client, the client was tested against various
variables which governed the degree of extent to which client has showcased improvement in his
health condition.
The specific behaviour that was evident in case jack can be termed as his inability to
communicate properly. His hesitation and under confidence in responding to various situations
was also considered as signal (Carter, Roberson and Johnson, 2020). He was very quiet and shy
and was unable to express himself in a proper manner. All these symptoms as well as signs were
taken into consideration while assessing the current status of the child in order to facilitate the
identification of the process and techniques that needs to be practised with Jack so as to lead
improvement in his current health status.

Explain how you identified this issue and the cause. Include research you have conducted of the
impact that this event/factor has on the developmental process.
The information and data provided by the parents of Jack has been taken into consideration in
order to identity the issue. Various assessment tests have also been implemented on Jack in order
to determine his health condition. The individual diversification in the parts of brain led to the
emergence of Dyslexia in Jack.
The inability of the brain to process in a systemic manner in response to a given stimulus has
impacted the developmental process of Jack. Due to the the respective mentioned he is not able
to read in a proper manner as he is not able to align his thoughts and concentrate upon the
learning in an effective way. His brain does not respond to the reading elements in a
systematised manner and due to the same, he becomes very nervous and anxious which makes
him helpless.

How does the delayed developmental issue differ from the normal development stage that this
client should identify with?
The delayed developmental concern has affected the Jack's reading skills and abilities which can
lead to major implications on Jack's future as well as this condition can also impact his childhood
which can lead to severe depression anxiety as well.
In the normal developmental stage, Jack must have been able to read properly, do his daily
chores by himself without the help of his parents and other healthcare centres. He would been
through a normal childhood as well. The life of Jack would be simpler and less complicated in
normal developmental stage.
It can stated that delayed developmental stage has impacted the life of Jack in an adverse manner
and he needs to be enrolled in effective interventions in order to facilitate his treatment in a
consistent manner.

Describe the consultation with your client’s family members about this developmental delay (if
appropriate) and the importance of this process.
In the particular case scenario, Jack's parents enrolled him in the health care centre but did not
realise that the respective centre was not properly concentrating upon the growth and
development of Jack. Their shifting to the new city can provide Jack a better environment as the
current health care centre will provide their best and will give proper feedback to the parents on a
weekly basis as well . The family member of the client are quite satisfied with the approaches
utilised by the centre in order to treat the dyslexia of Jack(Lee, 2020).Jack is also showing the
adequate responses to the approached which is a ray of hope that with the proper medication, he
may get gradually better with the respective therapy and approaches.

Choose one (1) theory of Life Span Development. Research what it is and explore how you
applied this theory to your session with your client (link to specific examples from the
recording).
In the particular case scenario, the behaviour of Jack needed to be assessed in order to determine
the ways in which he can react to the various learning tools that will optimised in order to
facilitate his dyslexia treatment. Behavioural theory of life span management was implemented
in order to identify, monitor and record the diverse behavioural response of the client to different

situational context. The client of engaged in various activities wherein his capacity to reflect his
past learning was also assessed as well. The respective theory provided a good benefit in order
to realise the response of Jack and to keep his responses in mind while delegation of various
techniques and recreational procedures in order to treat him an effective and prominent manner.

Prepare a Case Management Plan on how you would assist your client. Be sure to include any
services that would be appropriate for your client and describe the consultation and referral
process. The plan should be in a ‘plan format’ which includes subheadings or a table.

Write a reflection on how you have gained an understanding of the difficulties that clients with a
developmental disorder might face, particularly when trying to access services within the
community services sector.
The major learning that I derived from observing the clients suffering from different disorders is
that there is complex procedure that goes towards the acquisition of services in the community
service centres. There are times when the maange4emt of community centres become
inconsiderate towards the individuals and may become less patient with the same. their
behaviours can cause major impact on the disabled individuals. hence, it important to be more
patient and empathetic towards these individuals so that they do not feel excluded from the
society. Also, various inclusion activities needs to be provided so that these people get to interact
with the general public and get motivated to work on their recovery.
