CHAPTER 3. LITERATURE REVIEW
3.1.1 Objective 1
According to American Traffic Safety Services (ATSSA) 2018:12 “Connected Vehicle” is a big term
which explains a wireless connectivity ability on vehicles which can be used for applications initiate
from infotainment to navigate to the vehicle safely. Information Technology and Innovation
Foundation (ITIF) 2018:2 also explains “Connected cars are one of the technologies which make up
the Internet of Things (IoT), a term which used to explain the set of physical objects attached with
sensors or actuators and connected to a network”. The General Motors (GM) with the main aim of
making a safety feature product in collaboration with Motorola bringing in the market, OnStar the
first Connected Car over the last two decades (Auto connected car news 2019).

the automotive industry we should analyze the currently existing technology in connected cars and
also the needs of a new technology which is important to the automotive industry. By doing this we
can easily find out what new equipment and other related things are required to sure that the new
technology of the connected cars fully supports the current and future requirements of the end user
or not.
In 1984 Garvin find out that finished products and perceived quality is the major parts of the quality. The
perceived quality is a subjective judgment of the user about complete product quality and superiority. Perceived
quality is totally based upon the perception of the customers. The design of new connected cars mainly depends

growth. Ansoff Matrix permits to see options by considering risk and marketing implications (Rao
and Klein 2015). In the automotive industry, there is a research center for the perceived quality
which technical aspects is according to the requirements of the user. There is an influence of so
many different aesthetic features on the user brand perception. As we see that product quality
related aspects have more attention because there are overlaps and few gaps in the perceived quality
of the product. Nowadays in most of the automotive industry, people want to use the applications in
a different way so that they can easily do their work with more accuracy and security. As we know
that in current time most of the connected car use virtualization technique to reduce their expenses.
There are so many things which can affect the performance of connected cars like a failure of

will be undertaken in order to identify how a customer is inclined to this market and the challenges

implementing the right technology. Finally, what benefits it brings to the society by providing
guidance to the automotive industry improving product life cycle those would contribute to
recommendations for the automotive industry on how could improve perceived quality.

Automotive Industry when faced with new product development bringing the latest innovative

services according to the demand of the user at anywhere, anytime and on any device.

The system could help save hundreds of lives every year and so improve road safety in Europe.
The quality of products mainly consists of user requirements, technological capabilities,and

The automated self-driving car is one of the biggest ventures in the automotive industry which is
run with advanced technology. Many of the research findings suggest that there is a specific
influence in a positive way towards the consumer attitude with respect to acceptance, automated
driving and for usage attention.
The major reason for the development of smart vehicles is a positive impact on the safety of
vehicles. According to recent data, the number of death due to road accidents by motor vehicle is

connected car is the biggest invention. In this safety system is very effective. When the government

product has Preventative safety car adaption facilities and Live road conditions report facilities.
Currently, connected cars have repair diagnostics and Automatic emergency call (E-call) whereas in
coming future they also have Predictive and remote service booking facilities. In terms of
preferences and personal data smart cars have passengers/driver details in hard memory whereas in
coming future they also have e-commerce facilities in the car. According to the pattern or taste of
the user they provide music and radio station with advertisements and preferences. Currently,
connected cars have facilities of direct call or speech of control almost every function of the car is
now coming with new virtual assistance and proactive navigation facilities. The perceived quality
is a subjective judgment of the user about complete product quality and superiority. Perceived
quality is totally based upon the perception of the customers. The design of new connected cars
mainly depends upon the present and future demands of the user to ensure the development of the
company by implementing the right technology. By discussing the basic requirements and
problems of the current connected cars with the customer, the engineer can easily plan the quality
