1. Introduction:
Project management methodology is a system of different processes likes, practices, procedures
and techniques with the rules that apply to the project managers who involves in the projects and
work in a discipline. The methodology is also a way to select the things and works to do with the
appropriate reason. Use the methodology to complete a task within the given time and handle the
problem with using the selected strategy. Follow the steps of project management methodology
from start to end of the project.
The further report or the consolidated portfolio will include the various methodologies in the
form of their adoption for an organization. The use of the methodologies with the reason to adopt
will discuss the learning outcome one. The next part will contain the impacts of various
methodologies upon the stakeholders. The last part will include the justification as well as the
explanation of the elements that are used mostly. These elements meet the requirement or need
of the organization.

2. Course Learning Outcomes:
2.1 explain reasons why organization adopts Project Management
Methodologies:
Summary (Example Only):
As we discussed in the introduction section about the various process of the project management
methodology that is used to simply define a type of project management like agile. There are
various types of the project management methodologies like prince2, waterfall and others. There
are various reasons to define the adoption of the methodology of project management. Each of
the projects is a temporary, unique and unpredictable endeavour. These methodologies manage
all types of projects like, large and small. The methodology also used for the risk management,
monitoring progress and strategy of communication. An organization needs to change in a
particular period of time and according to user requirement or change of techniques. Project
management methodology is also an update part of techniques that adapt to an organization.
Here are the various reasons to adopt project management methodologies like as follows:
Effective decision-making: improve the roles of the members of the project with their expected
behaviour for making an effective decision. The delay in the project can be occurring by the
selection of the person who has the ability to take the decision.
Save time with the money: the methodology of project management has a clear roadmap to
support a project by the sets of the process. These processes are used in all the projects to speed
up the common phase of a project.
Control the project scope: use the effective method to manage the scope of the project.
The project management helps to meet the client requirement in an agreement and check the
material that is going to implement.
It controls the estimated cost of the total project with the consumption of time.
Identify the project quickly with the method of tracking (Naybour, 2016).
The project management methodology is clarified the aim of the task and the continuous tracking
of the project. The new projects clash with the elements like, implement a new infrastructure
without knowing the business strategy.
The project management includes in the stepping backs to know the answers of some queries
like, are you doing right things and are you doing things right. Here both the lines have a
different meaning, like, right things refer to the continuous process of the activities that will

depend on the project. Another one, things right is related to the quality of work and depend on
the strategy of the project with the benefits of the business.
A project is completely changed after the implementation of the project management. It is
required to adopt new IT techniques to do things differently. A project management
methodology helps the people to overcome the situation in which they evolve early. These
methodologies share the ideas and thoughts of the final outcome.
An IT project is required to consult about the functions with the IT department. A person, who is
evolving in a project, only can know the type of project. The initial stage includes the design,
define scope and objectives.
There are different ways to use the methodology of the project management that reduce the risk
of all size for an organization. A method can be used more than one time in an organization and
adapt the method to learn (Guo, 2012).
There are various factors that explain the reason behind the adoption of project management
methodology:
Support for management with the commitment
Structure of the organization
Communication & Culture
Tanning
Project Planning
o Scale
o Simple
o Personal
o Collaborative
o Enterprise
o Management paradigm
o Implemented model
o Budget
o Conduct a risk assessment
Tracing Process
Project Closure (Rattan, 2013)
Evidence:
The evidence of the adoption of the project management methodology is given by the use of
agile project management (APM) by the Brazilian companies of different sectors. People think
that the APM can use only in the software development but the result indicates the use of APM
in different sectors or non-software companies. The result of research defines the implementation

of APM in traditional industries so that is the evidence of adoption of project management
methodologies (Pmi, 2014).
2.2 Critically analyze the impact of Project Management Methodology upon
stakeholders:
Stakeholders are the person or party, who are interested in an organization and affected the
business by direct or indirect. The basic and common stakeholders are the suppliers, investors,
customers, employers and others. But in the present era, the basics have changed. They replaced
by the trade association, community and government. There are two types of the stakeholders,
internal and external. Internal can affect a company by direct and the external can indirect. There
are various issues of the stakeholders related to the values and importance, direct communication
and work or effort. It’s a myth that anyone can be a stakeholder, here are some names as the
examples like Project leader, senior management, team members of the project, a customer of the
project, product, groups, line manager, consulted and others.
To manage the stakeholders is a key issue in an organization. Manage the stakeholders according
to the priority and on the basis of the value of the stakeholder for the organization. Project
management can be used to manage the stakeholders of an organization with the use of different
process like:
Document stakeholder communication
Enforce the process
Provide a frequent report of the status
Dispel Myths (Landau, 2017)
Here are some suggestions for the stakeholders from the project management of an organization:
Develop the plan with the milestones and approve the planning by the management of the
organization.
The impact of the project management regarding the development of the methodology is
to be distributed on the basis of scheduled tasks.
The information is provided by the project management in the form of project risk.
Some stakeholders are directly impacted by the project management, these are:
o Supplier, external customer and supplier
Identify the requirement of the stakeholder that is given below:
Need to know the demand and expectations of the stakeholders
Access influence
Analysis of the stakeholder
Explain the terms of the success of the stakeholders
Stakeholder’s analysis
Keep and track the record of the stakeholder with the schedule of the project
Document Page
Summary:
The basics of the stakeholders are provided in the above section with their definition, types, use
in the organization, requirement of the stakeholders with their demand and expectation is explain
in the above section.
Evidence:
The week seven of the portfolio six include the explanation of the stakeholder. The explanation
includes all the details about the stakeholders in the weekly report. Some details are also taken
from the Kerzner’s book.

2.3 Explain and justify the major elements of a Project Management
Methodology that might meet the need of an organization:
Project Management Methodology used to define the methods of a system with the rules and
principles to manage the project. These methodologies help an organization by reducing the risk
and ignore the duplication of the efforts to increase the impact of the project. There are various
methodologies and their elements that might meet the need of an organization.
A. traditional and sequential methodologies:
Waterfall:
A simple approach that is referred to by the (software development life cycle) SDLC for
making the solid plans and implement them. In other words, it makes a simple plan and
executes them. It connects with the items in a sequence and them in the list of deliveries.
In the waterfall methodology, next task begins when the first one is completed. This
methodology used to the projects that are present in physical forms like, computers and
buildings so that the project plan can replicate in future. Each step of this methodology is
planned and present in the proper sequence. At the initial step, this is the simplest method
to implement. It has the approach of the single cycle so that there is little scope to adapt,
reflect and revise, that can be used after the completion of something. It is difficult to go
back after the testing stage and there is nothing to represent till the project completion.
CPM (Critical Path Method):
It was developed in the 1950s and based on the thesis that until a task is finished, the user
can’t start a new task. The user can select the critical path in the case to start and finish
both the task. The critical path is used to focus and identify the priority that is allocated to
the resources to select the important task by the project managers. It reschedules the task
that is on the lower priority after the consultation with the team. The project can
reschedule by optimizing the teamwork process without the wait for the end result.
CCPM (Critical Chain Project Management):
Tasks of the project are completed with the implementation of CCPM methodology as it
focuses on the primary resources that are necessary to complete the task. It reserves the
resource for the high-priority task and starts a project to build a schedule and identify the
most required task need to be complete. Buffers used to build the time for the task of
project management and confirm that the deadline meets with the project.
B. PMBOK or PMI Method:
When an organization required managing the project with a true methodology then I advise to
use them PMBOK or PMI methods. Here the true means that the project breaks into the five
processes that are confirmed by the PMI (Project Management Institute) and the process of the
Document Page
document is completed by the PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge). The five
process of the project is, initializing, planning, executing, controlling and closing.
It includes various techniques and processes to evaluate the process of project management. This
methodology includes various guidelines, standards of frameworks, practices, convention,
process and guidelines (Aston, 2017).
C. Agile Family:
The agile methodology includes the different framework that is discussed as follows:
Agile:
Agile is not considered as the methodology, it is a type of software that has the set of principles
of development. The principles are used for the values like interaction and individuals used for
the tools and processes, working software over the documentation, a collaboration of the
customer over the negotiation of the contract and a plan needs to response over the change.
People explain the agile methodology as iterative, flexible and useful to build process. The agile
used to implement its frameworks that are: Scrum, Adaptive Project Framework, Kanban and
extreme programming. There are some common things that use in the frameworks of agile, as the
team works in an iterative cycle and evaluate the result at the end.
Scrum:
It used to improve the delivery process as well as the communication, speed of the development
with the teamwork. It is a simple framework that uses the principles of agile in the area of
software development. It also includes some other terms like burndowns, sprints, scrims and
backlogs.
Scrum is not actually a methodology; it’s maintained the complex products with the
development. It defines the set of roles with efficiency tools and meeting. It creates a healthy
tension between right things as fast as possible.
Kanban:
This methodology is used to increase the efficiency of a strict process and follow the lean
principles. It is less prescriptive with the softer landing and more evolutionary changes compared
than Scrum. The process of the Kanban is light, flexible and doesn’t contain the roles prescribed.
The core process of the Kanban is visualized the workflow with a measure of the lead time, work
limit in the process and continually evaluating the opportunities for improve.
Priorities of the maintenance environment change continuously as to make faster and better
quality with a focus on the work. Visual representation is created by the project team with the
use of whiteboards and notes.
Document Page
Extreme Programming (XP):
It used to adapt the needs of the customers through the improvement of the quality of software
and the ability of the development. It is quite similar to the agile characterized by the constant
collaboration, work sprints and with the stakeholders. Work can be replaced by the same task or
swapped out if it does not start with the certain feature.
D. Methodologies of change of Management:
Event chain Methodology:
Require implementing the plan to face the risk when it occurs. Because an unexpected
event may fail the project in a case like, schedule, success and deliverables.
Extreme Project Management:
It is opposite of waterfall that used to forward to complete the project and manage the
massive changes. In this methodology, users can alter the final deliveries with the project
plan and budget.
E. Other Methodology:
Prince 2:
Named as projects in controlled environment, used to manage the projects of UK government
and a planning approach that is based on product is used to characterize it. Two level of activities
is defined it Prince 2 methodology. The high level is used for the resource allocation and
business justification and the low level is for taking care of the project manager of the activities
like, scheduling.
PRiSM:
Known as the project integrating sustainable methods, that used to manage the change in the
incorporate environment with the sustainability of the process. The aim of the methodology is to
complete a project in the negative environment (Wrike, 2018).
Summary:
This part includes the different elements of project management methodology that are needs of
an organization. These methodologies are defined as the type of an organization as per these
requirements. The list of the project development is also the part of the learning outcome 3.
Evidence:
Different elements of the methodology of project management include in the week eight of the
portfolio seven. This information contains all the types of the methodologies that are mention in
the week.
