RMIT CHILDCARE is a childcare center located in RMIT University along 17-25 LYGON STREET
CARLTON. The center can be accessed at the street level and is made up of four floors having an indoor
play area for the children at every floor alongside a rooftop play area.
The center is made up of five rooms
Room 1 for 3 to 18 months old children
Room 2 for 12 months to 2 years old children
Room 3 for children aged 2 to 3 years old
Room 4 for children aged 3 to 4 years old; and
Room 5 which is meant for children aged 4 to 5-year-old
Room 5 is inclusive of a program for four-year-old kindergarten.
The building hence needs adequate flow of electricity that does not have any disruption to ascertain that
the building is functioning fully during the time it is occupied (Collins and Woerman, 2016). Electricity in
the build on is mainly used for lighting, fire system, air conditioning, elevators as well as appliances.
Higher current electricity is generated at the different power stations. The current that is produced is taken
through a step up transformer in order to avoid chances of loss of energy.

Electric transmission tends to serve as the link connecting power usage and production of power. The
electricity at high voltage is thereafter transmitted through overhead lines as well as underground cables
from the power plants to the substations (Hall and Greeno, 2017). The electricity having high voltage goes
through numerous reduction stages at the distribution stations prior to getting to specific buildings by the
use of step down transformers. The transmission stations are 500kV, 275kV as well as 132 kV even as
distribution voltages tend to be in the range of 33kV, 11kV as well as 400 or 230 volts. The voltage of
electricity is further stepped down as per the suitable usage in every space.
