Introduction
Management of the people and stakeholder in the project management is an important
thing. The success of the project depends on the of the stakeholders involved in the project. On
the other hand the people involved in the development of the project are needed to be managed
so that all the modules in the project can be completed in a proper way (Azhar, Khalfan and
Maqsood 2015). Stakeholders in the project are not defined as only the internal stakeholders.
The concept of stakeholder in the project includes the client and internal stakeholders (Vacanas
et al. 2015). The delivery of the project should be done in such a way that all the requirements of
the stakeholders from different levels can be met (Zhi 2015). Hence , it can be assumed that the
management of the stakeholders is dependent on the other stages of project requirement life
cycle such as the documentation of the requirements. The management of the people in the
development of the project is important as the project is developed for the client who can be
regarded as external stakeholders and the development process and the quality of the project is
dependent on the development team who are internal stakeholder of the project. This can be done
by the team leader of the project team or project manager (Eadie, McLernon and Patton 2015).
Assigning the right amount and type of work to the specified person will ensure that all the
modules involved the compilation of the project are done in right order. In order to do this the
right assessment of the skills of individuals in the project is needed to be evaluated (Zhou, Goh
and Li 2015). The primary objective of this discussion is to conduct gathering of relevant
information about the management of stakeholders and managing people in the construction
project (Gurcanli, Bilir and Sevim 2015). The discussion is about the project and its certain
impacts, which includes the management of the stakeholders, assessment of risks involved in the

project and tools and techniques used in the project. These information will help to understand
the managing of the stakeholders and people in the construction project in an effective way,
Discussion
In the following discussion the focus in on the management of the stakeholders in the
construction project. The discussion will include other various aspects of managing the project
(Tah and Carr 2014). In this case, the chosen construction project is construction of New
Papworth Hospital which was developed by Skanska UK. In order to explore the other aspects of
the project the background of the project is needed to be researched.
Historic context of the project:
The organization is currently working on the building a new hospital near Cambridge for
a foundation trust named Papworth NHS Foundation Trust. The construction of the project has
started in 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2018 according to the official website of
Skanska UK(www.skanska.co.uk 2018). The estimated number of patients for the treatment per
day is 24,400 for indoor purpose and 73,600 numbers of patients for outdoor treatment. The
hospital will be of international ambience with high quality of medical facility (Perrenoud et al.
2015.). Efficient clinical layout is needed to be implemented in order to provide high quality
services at the proposed hospital. It can be said the landscape outside the hospital can be
considered for enhancement of the beauty of the hospital(Fernández-Sánchez and Rodríguez-
López 2015). The technology which is used for the construction project is advanced and enables
the option for saving the energy. The construction of the advanced biomedical center is also
included in this construction project. The biomedical center is extended portion of the hospital
which will provide world class research about clinical medicine and healthcare.

The structure of the project:
The structure of the construction project is important as it indicates the possibility of the
success of the project. The structure of this project is divided into several stages.
 Identification of scope: The most important part of this project is the identification of the
scope of the project. The construction of the hospital building in this case is not the basic
aim of Skanska UK (Wong and Zhou 2015). The hospital will be operated at international
level. In this case, the ambience and structure of the hospital are needed to meet the
standards. Apart from that the landscape and background of the hospital is needed to be
contemporary in nature.
 Documentation of requirement: The specification of the requirement is important as it
helps to mitigate the chances of the scope creep in the development of the project
(Kuchta and Ptaszyńska 2017). In this case, the client wants the ambience and the clinical
layout which support the standards at international level. Apart from that the client in this
project also needs the biomedical research center in the hospital.
 Execution of the project: The gathering of the requirements form the client will be
followed by the execution phase. The execution phase will ensure that the project is
going to be executed in such a way that the outcome will deliver all the requirements of
the project. The timeline of the execution of the project is 2018 (Bouazza, Udeaja and
Greenwood 2015). The development of the project started in 2015.
 Monitoring and control of the project: The functioning of the hospital is expected to be
started in 2018. The monitoring and control of this construction project has the timeline
of 2018-2048.

 Closing of the project: The closing of the construction project will be done after the
hospital started functioning in full phase and the requirements of the clients are fulfilled
in a right way.

Financial management regarding the project:
Financial management of project includes the managing of cash flow involved in the
project along with the evaluation of the associated risks regarding the project. The assessment of
risk for the project management is significant as the success of the project is based on manganing
of the risks.
The risk associated with this construction project is evaluated on the basis of certain
parameters and factors. The factors are selected on the basis of their significance in the

development and delivery of project. Time, cost, quality of the project are important aspects of
the project and play a significant role for evaluation of the project and the risk associated with it.
Time: This is one of the most significant risk in this project. The construction of the
hospital building along with the biomedical centre is a large amount of work. However, the work
has been assigned with deadline (Mancin et al.2017). The expected deadline is year 20118. The
responsibility of the project manager is to finish the assigned work within time. However, there
is a possibility that the project may not be completed in time. In that case, the project team and
the client of the organization will face a great loss of money.
In order to mitigate this possibility the timeline for the development of project is done at
the initial stage of development of project. Responsibility of the project manager is to monitor
that the project modules are followed according to the timeline.
Cost: The cost of any project is an important factor for the development of the project.
Initially the cost is specified for the current project. In this case, the cost is determined at the
phase of requirement gathering (Sha'ar et al., 2017). There are certain risks associated with the
cost of the project. There is a possibility that the budget of the project may exceed form the
assumed budget. In this case, the loss of money can happen for both the client and project
management team.
In order to mitigate the possibility of the loss from the exceed of the budget, the tracking
of buying resources is needed (Martin et al.2016). The team lead will track the buying and
spending of the resources. Any unnecessary changes in the budget plan should be notified to the
project manager by the team leader.

Quality: The quality of the project is another important issue in the management of the
construction project. The requirement of the client form the project management team includes
the ambience of the hospital and the clinical layout which meet the international standard (Wang
et al. 2014). The main risk associated with this factor is that the outcome of the project may not
meet the required standard of the project.
Monitoring and control of the project enables that developed project is meeting all the
quality and the standards. Certain quality measuring standards regarding the quality control can
be implemented in order to evaluate the standards of the project.
Overall performance: The overall performance of the construction project is based on the
development of the project. Outcome of a project will indicate that the objective of the project is
successful. The outcome of project will meet all the requirements of the clients and the
performance of the project will deliver the main objective.
There is a possibility that the outcome of the project is not compatible with the project
objective. In that case, the implementation of the project will not be successful. In order to
mitigate this risk associated with the overall performance of the project, the monitoring and
control of the construction project are needed to be done. Maintaining all the stages of the project
life cycle along with maintaining the time line and the standards while developing the project
will help to enhance the overall performance of the construction of the hospital.
Sustainability and building the performance:
Sustainability is an important parameter for the construction project. The sustainability
parameter ensures that the resources are used in the development of the project in an effective
way. The impacts of the development of the project has certain impacts on social life and

environment (Ding, Zhou and Akinci 2014). Developing this project, Skanska UK considers the
impact of the development on the environment. The resources used in the construction project
are eco friendly (Sagala and Farag 2018). On the other hand the impact of this construction on
the society is going to be good, as the hospital will provide world class medical facility. The
sustainability of the project also involves meeting all the requirements of all internal and external
stakeholders in the project.
The performance building criteria includes the functioning of the project. It can be
assumed that after the construction of the project is done; all the required clinical implementation
can be done on time and in an effective way (ZHANG, CUI and ZHANG 2016). Moreover, after
the construction, the hospital can able to accommodate pre assumed number of indoor and
outdoor patients. The performance of the construction can be fulfilled if the construction serves
the right purpose.
Interpersonal perspective of the management of project:
The interpersonal perspective of the project management helps in the flow of
communication between all the stakeholders of the project. In this case, the stakeholders can be
both internal and external. In the current situation the project management and communication is
integral part of the business. During the course of the development, the communication between
different level and hierarchy is needed (Schultz et al. 2015). Moreover, adoption of the changing
market condition needs the flow of communication. The interpersonal perspective defines the
perspective of different stakeholders in the project management (Tah and Carr 2015). The
internal flow of communication indicates the sharing of the knowledge among the team
members. In this mentioned situation, the knowledge sharing helps all the workers and people
involved in the project to participate in the development of the construction project. On the other

hand the brainstorming process helps in the decision making process (Merschbrock and
Munkvold, 2014,). Moreover, the interaction between team members of the project team and
clients will help to bring the clarity in requirements of the project. The clarity in the
requirements of the project will help to mitigate the chances of scope creep in the project. The
difference in the requirements happens from the different perspective about the project from
different stakeholders.
Use of information technology and communication system in the management of the
project:
The use of information technology and communication system of the project is
significant factor in the management of the project. The technology used in the building of the
project ensures that it will utilize the efficient use of the energy and there is chance for exploiting
more advanced technology in future.
Use of innovative techniques in construction project:
In the construction project building information modeling is emerging technique. BIM
deals with the physical and functional information about project. The outcome of the BIM
delivers the future picture of the construction project (Ogunde et al. 2017). The outcome, in this
case is assumed on the basis of the requirements and available resources and time for the project.
The picture of the construction of the building can be done using 3D printing technology (Tah
and Carr 2014). The future overview of the project will help in the decision making during the
course of development of the project. BIM can be defined as the combination of the objects and
tools. BIM objects are initially solid shaped, product specific things those have certain attributes.
BIM designing tools helps to extract the different views of combination of those objects from
different perspectives. These are also referred as object instants.

In the current project the use of BIM has been implemented. Using this technique the extraction
of the assumed model of the hospital has been published. The current development of the project
is based on this object model.
Conclusion
The discussion is based on the construction of the hospital named New Papworth
Hospital. The project is developed by Skanska UK, a leading construction company at UK. The
main discussion in this study is to evaluate different aspects of the project along with gathering
the information about the importance of managing the stakeholders and people. The possible
fields of relevant information have been explored. It has been found out that before the
discussion of the aspects of project, the background of the project is needed to be known. The
possible project structure has been discussed on basis of generic life cycle stages of the project.
The stakeholder analysis helps to identify the possible stakeholders involved in the project
management and their roles in the development of the project. The project performance indicates
the decisions about the development phase with respective years. The identification of the
stakeholders and developing the basic timeline helps in the risk assessment of the project. The
assessments of the risk are based on the certain factors such as time, cost and overall
performance. Mitigation plan along with possible risks has been discussed. The improvement of
the performance in the construction project includes the use of BIM. It can be said from the
above discussion that the use of advanced technology and maintain the certain steps of project
management will help to deliver the right outcome of the project which will meet all the
requirements of the client. Skanska UK ha the deadline for compilation of the project is 2018. It
can be assumed the work will be finished in time. Then objective of the client for this project is
to deliver the world class medical facility to the patients. Being a leading construction company
