Construction Site Organization
Since the early times of construction, site organization has been an important aspect in
construction management (Illingworth 2017). A well-organized site allows a smooth flow of
materials, and workers, and other resources. This ensures that the scheduled activities go as
planned so as to achieve the set project completion dates (Badihaveli and Vyas 2019).
This project involves the construction of a 3-story building in an area that is
surrounded by private and social amenities such as school, hospital, police station, clinic,
retail outlets, and other commercial buildings. It is important, therefore, to arrange the site
facilities, tools, and equipment in such a way that there is the minimum disturbance to the
traffic flow, low noise, and vibrations levels, and dust that comes from the site.
The plot measures 100mx50m while the building is approximately 75mx30m. The
proposed site hoarding is erected in such a way that it leaves at least 1.5m from the plot
boundary so as to leave a walking way around the site so as not to interfere with the flow of
traffic. Two gates are proposed in the site. One measure at least 5m in length and will be used
by construction vehicles as well as loading and offloading activities. The other gate measures
at least 4m and will be used by site workers as well as officials.
The proposed site office is located in the NE corner while the toilets and wash areas
on the NW corner near the council water connection. Electricity connection is done next to
the storage area so as it is near the fabrication area. The waste and rubbish bins are located
near the construction vehicles entry gate. The crane tower is located at the middle of the
Southern elevation line so as it is near the materials as well as it can easily access the extreme
corners of the building. The storage and fabrication areas are next to each near the site
entrances other for easy flow of materials. In addition, this area is away from the school and
hospital that require low noise levels.
