Construction materials in Civil Engineering
Building and civil engineering needs one to make use of efficient materials to achieve the desired
structure specifications at the end of the day. The materials used for such activities vary greatly.
They include metals, aggregates, cement wood, clay, and concrete. The most used building
material is clay. The need to ensure that one observes cost effectivity leads to many having
significant variations in the kind of stuff to be used for construction activity. The economy of
several countries has experienced massive growth based on manufacturing construction
materials. The segmentation of the elements into specific specialty trades has made the industry
even wider and accommodating an increased number of individuals. The materials can either be
natural, mud and clay, fabric, thatch, rock and many others depending with the construction area
(Andrea Benedetto, 2015).
Techniques in Civil Engineering
There are several techniques currently coming up making civil engineering better. The current
method has been the need to have a self-healing concrete. The method mainly ensures that a
strong bond is maintained in the materials utilized for construction. Apart from that, there is too a
warm bridging technique. Regarding the method, diverse useful protection material is gradually
being converted to being used in construction activity. Photovoltaic glazing is also a recent
technique being applied in the civil engineering field. The building has to be incorporated with
photovoltaic power. The structure will be in a position to produce its power. The process is
achieved through a complete transformation of the entire building into a sun-powered board.

Active footfall has also been a current technique in the civil engineering field. The method sees
to it that power is produced from walker footfall (Samali, 2012).
Structural systems for building and civil engineering
They are methods used in assembling and constructing structural elements of a building. The
systems are to be set in a manner that they transmit the loads safely to the ground. The
transmission should at no time exceed the allowable stresses in the members. Some of the
underlying systems include the bearing-wall, membrane, frame, post-and-lintel and suspension.
The arrangements are primarily categorized into three. The high-rise, long-span and long-rise
arrangements (Xu, 2017).
Health and safety and prefabrication
A construction site will always prioritize worker safety. Apart from that, the sites closely
consider the insurance and liability issues. There is an increased use of technology in the field of
construction. The result has been the safety issue becoming more multifaceted. Prefabrication as
a construction method, has ensured to adopt almost all the safety practices during the
construction process. Safety programs have been widely adopted in most areas implementing
prefabrication as a construction method. Different firms have resorted for the use of
prefabrication as a way of improving construction site safety (Smith, 2011). The method has a
positive influence on the safety of the workers. The approach embraces some site practices that
contribute to the positive contribution realized regarding safety. The individuals in charge have
to ensure that they develop a site-specific health safety plan. Each person working with the firm
has to ensure that they stick to the written plan. Different measures will be set that will provide
the steps are correctly followed. Project safety personnel are significant in ensuring construction
