INTRODUCTIONCollaborative mental health care is a range of practice which helps in integrating theconsumers, families and caregivers in order to provide health care for better quality of life.Mental health is referred to as the cognitive behaviour, emotional and social well-being. Mentalheath comprise different type of illness like, anxiety, psychotic, mood, substance use, eating andtrauma basedtrauma-based disorder. Collaborative mental health nursing practice will help meoutlining the experience and understanding of the nurse while treating mental illness. Mentalhealth nurses focus on resolving the issue related with various disorders in an individual. Key terms of study will beMental health, collaborative mental health nursing practice,nurse consumer relationship, mental disorder and experience of mental health.Collaborative mental health nursing practice: Collaborative mental health nursingpractice helps in effective planning in order to provide support and care to the people sufferingfrom mental health issues. Collaborative nurse consumer relationship helps is based on mutual trust by assessing thepatient with emotional, physical and spiritual needs through nurses’ skills, knowledge andattitude. Mental health is very crucial at every stage of life in order to take necessary decisionand choices. Mental health is referred to as the degree of psychological well- being. The lived3
experience of the nurses is completely associated with the potential of recovery of an individual.This in turn helps in better understanding in order to improve the overall outcomes of theindividual by filling the gaps in service delivery and gaining experience of the individualsuffering from mental illness. Collaborative mental health nursing is necessary in order toenhance the capacity of primary health care by collaborating various health care professionals inorder to deliver effective mental health services. Collaborative mental health care practice is usedwhere all the consumers, caregivers and family members work together in order to promotemental health services and care. Collaborative care is provided from different specialities andprofessionals who work together for mutual support and offer complementary services to providebest quality care to the individual. Isobel and Delgado (2018) said that, exercise and goodnutrition have positive impact on the mental health of the individual suffering from mentaldisorders. This can be done by improving the metabolic monitoring, motivational interviewing,nutrition and exercise which helps patient to adapt to such behaviours for better care results andoutcomes. Gaining understanding of the health care consumer experiences helps in determiningthe various aspects of the patient. This helps in effectively refining the process of patient care.Cognitive practice helps in analysing the information which are relevant for the patient care. Thiswill helps in taking necessary decision by understanding the decision and improving varioushealth outcomes. Happell and et.al., (2019) established the fact that, Inter-professionalcollaboration is referred to as a partnership between various health professionals, familymembers, care takers and patients. It is a collaborative, participative and coordinated approachwhich results in shared decision making regarding various health issues. This helps in enabling asynergetic influence of knowledge and skills in order to improve patient outcomes. The inter-professional team helps to work on a common goal for better care results (The Effects ofInterprofessional Education in Mental Health Practice: Findings from a Systematic Review,2018). This practice helps in promoting nurse consumer relationship by taking into considerationviewpoints of various health professional and patient with mutual respect. This practice helpsnurses in experiencing better patient care, effective health outcomes and effective health caresystem. Fletcher and et.al., (2019) said that, Inter-professional collaboration practice helps indeveloping the understanding of health care system. Developing a collaborative nurse consumerrelationship helps nurse s in taking strategic decision and make proper plan by evaluating theneeds of the patients for better quality care outcomes. 4
