TASK 33.2 Consumer protection legislation in relation to travel and tourism customersConsumer Protection Act 1987 – This act is regarding the interest of consumers. There are certain rights which has been made for thecustomers for their enjoyment. Under this the customers can claim for the compensation against the injury which has been provided byThomas Cook travel and tourism company. The customers have rights to claim the amount in different fields.Rail industry – If the train has not arrival on time and the trip of people are missed then the consumer can claim for the compensation. Holiday packages - If the visitor is not satisfied with the services of hotel and if there is written in agreement that customer will beliable for compensate the amount then he/she can claim the amount.Cruises and ferries - If any issues are faced by the customers regarding the booking of then they have right to claim the amount. Consumer Protection Laws :Trade description act 1968 – This act is relate with the description of goods and services which is traded. Through this act it providesthe protection to customers if there is any misdescription of products and services done by the hotel. Package travel and regulation - This regulation is for individual to protect the package. Thomas Cook has to furnish all theinformation which are related with tour so that tourist can also came to know about. The facilities should also be mentioned that what offacilities will be provided to customers. If the tour operator has not provided the facilities then the customers can protect from them unfairtrading.Regulation 2008 – In this the customers are protected from the unfair trading practices which has been done by the tour operators. Ifthere is any misleading of information regarding the advertisement or article then it is considered as unfair trading practices. Thomas Cookhas to provide all the relevant information to customers so that it will not take the place of unfair trading practices. Health and safety act 1974 – The visitors have right to get the healthy and safety environment at destination place. It they are notgetting the proper environment then they can share their problems with high authority. It is also a responsibility of tour operator to providesecurity to visitors so that can enjoy the trip in appropriate manner.
