INTRODUCTION
Contemporary issue is known as any business event, ideas, thoughts as well as opinions in the
provided subject which is considered as the most relevant as well as important business aspects
in the present time frame. Such issues can be seen in every matter of interest. The present report
is based on Golds Gym which is one of the American Chain of international fitness centre. It is
situated in the city of Dagenham, UK with its location over 700 places across the globe. Each
gym centre offers different variety of cardio as well as strength training sessions along with the
group exercise programs. In this report, emphasis will be made on defining issues which are
related to the Business, management as well as leadership aspects. Also, it will identify key
impacts of such contemporary issues on business organisation, society and economy. At last,
focus will be made on analysing impact of shareholders view related to corporate governance,
changing approaches and analysis made therein.

issues which includes contingent legal landscape, technological advancements, financial crises as
well as number of other issues which directly hampers the overall business functions. Some
times, by adopting all the relevant continuous changes in the marketing strategies and trends of
the company, help it in coping with all the changing face of the lending market and its related
business area.
In Golds Gym, the company has to face number of contemporary issues related to Legal,
Technology, Financing as well as Marketing aspects which has created impact on its business
performance level. These issues are related with following factors such as:
1. Minimum wages – It is considered as one of the most important business issues for
every business organisation. By having such issue, the business of Golds Gym has gets
affected to a large extent as the workers as well as employees working therein are not
able to get proper wage as per their work (Butler and Ko, 2015). Because of

inappropriate means of wages distributed among all the workers, it has created a greater
sense of demotivation among them. Thus, it has affected the overall productivity as well

image. Because of low wage rate of the Golds Gym, which is not in line with the
minimum wage act as specified by the government it has arises dissatisfaction among
workers which has further resulted into increase in labour turnover and absenteeism rate
as well. It is very much essential from the perspective of good living standard to impart
minimum wages as required for meeting daily needs of human life. Lower wage is the
common problem across business firms. Important point to note is that firms carry out
business activity on large scale and in lieu pay small amount of wages to the labours.
Now a day’s employees are more aware about their rights and due to this reason do not
prefer to work at low wages. Due to their personal problems they do work in company
but are not committed towards job. All these things greatly affect cooperation between
employees (Grimshaw, 2016). Low salary lead employees to think that they must deliver
quality and quantity of work according to wage paid to them. Hence, they do not
cooperate with each other which lead to origination of conflicts among employees. This
greatly hamper productivity at the workplace and unnecessary problems are observed in
the company. With passage of time condition become so critical and things got mess-up
and it became hard for management to find solution of the problem (Meer and West,
2016). Ultimately, employees start leaving their job from the firm and workforce become
small in size or many new employees added in the workforce. Finally, again problem of
coordination appears on the floor. Thus, it can be said that low wage creates lot of
problems for the firm.
2. Working conditions One of the essential factor which has to be taken into
consideration by the employer while providing job to employee. There must be a good
working environment as well as culture in every business organisation so that employees
working therein can perform in much better manner. There is a requirement by every
employees related to the proper air, lighting, ventilation, refreshment facilities etc.
through which they can get refreshed and can perform their business operations in more
appropriate as well as relevant manner (Epstein, Verbeeten and Widener, 2016). In case
of improper working conditions, there are many possibilities related to the norms that

conditions a thought of not work at the Golds Gym can arises on non-fulfillment of it.
Thus, it creates dissatisfaction among consumers as well and can influence overall
organizational growth and success. Working condition is the one of the most important
factor that is given due importance by the employees. Working conditions include
amenities provided to the employees like canteen facility, availability of cab and work
culture as well as attitude and behaviours of the people at the workplace. Improper
working conditions lead to origination of lots of problems at the workplace. In many
business firms attitude of employees is not positive and even they do not behave
professionally with each other. Thus, conflict arises between employees and they less
cooperate with each other (Guest, 2017). All these create a lot of problem for the
business firms. Conflict between employees affect them and company at large extent.
Due to unprofessional behaviours congenial work environment does not get developed at
the workplace and many employees feel that company they are in is not best place to
work and they resign from their job. Gradually, employee turnover increase at rapid rate
and problem originate for the business firm. In order to handle such kind of situations
strict actions must be taken at the workplace (Marchington, 2015). In this regard
managers must ensure that they are talking in right way with their subordinates.
Managers must also ensure that those working just below them at senior level are
behaving in right way with their subordinates. If managers and employees will behave in
proper manner with each other problem will not originate.
Thus, it can be said that for Golds Gym some of the contemporary issues which has been
faced by it has to be considered on top priority for mitigating its negative impact on the business
performance level. By formulating sound business plans and strategies, the management of the

by it (Wachowiak, 2016). With the help of strong business skills and knowledge base, employees
of Golds Gym can improves their business performance along with own and can help company
