It analyzes an organizational situation by drawing on the schools of leadership and provides recommendations for improving organizational culture and leadership style to overcome uncertainties and dynamic business environments. The report also highlights the importance of communication, training, and skill development programs for enhancing creativity and knowledge of members in the area of their interest.

INTRODUCTION
Contemporary management refers to the planning,organizing ,leading and controlling the
operations of an organization to achieve specific goals (Hafberg, Borinstein and Alexopoulos,
2019). In 21st Century, management consists of various challenges such as Technology,
globalization, competition, diversity, ethics etc. These challenges are distracting managers and
leaders from achieving their goals and improving their work in an organization. The managers
are constantly try to tackle this challenges that leads to lowering the productivity of a company.
The organizations and business companies are putting all their efforts to face these challenges for
improving productivity and performance of the organizations. This project report is based on the
Shackleton leadership style that plays a significant role to deal with the success of an
organisation. It will deal directly to employees in order to boost their efficiency towards the
growth of an organization. Further, this report will discuss the contemporary issues and
leadership style that helps to enhance the performance of an organization.
TASK
How would you characterise Shackleton’s leadership style? State the important lessons learnt
from them.
Shackleton was a cautious leader and a man. He was not afraid to throw away the
rulebook. The Shackleton's leadership style is widely used leadership style that helps the leaders
to encouraging their team members and motivate them to achieve the targeted goal in limited
time period. This leadership style creates strong bond between employees and increase their
confidence to work harder. With the help of Shackleton's leadership style the knowledge, skills
and efforts of the employees has been recognized in most effective way(Gutmann, 2018).
According to this style a leader in one who support and encourage their team to work smoothly
for achieving the aim. This will boost the morale of the members and increased their confidence
level to deal with the challenging business environment in the company. The Shackleton believes
in team working because unity is power to achieve the success and the goal. It helps to deal with
threats & crisis they may arise in the world of business.

The Shackleton leadership style promotes thoughts, collaboration of ideas and
commitment to reduce stress level of the employee at workplace. There are requirement of
proper strategies and plan to guide the team members in right direction to achieve a goal which
includes innovative methods , rules and policy. The clear vision of project and assigned task is
helpful to develop successful decision making process. It is very essential for the company to
plan and take care of management , finance and investment to survive in this competitive market
place. These plan will work with a better leadership style and system to improve the performance
of organization in the market. In this century, management consist various barriers that prevent
leaders and mangers leaders from achieving their goals and improving their organizations work.
Management barriers are very common due to huge change in external factors that can reduce
earning capacity and efficiency of an organization. Shackleton leadership style provides a
roadmap to deal with barriers which may comes in business .This leadership styles follows the
rules and principles for avoiding risk of liability and loss, provides laws to safe-conduct
position of businesses as well as to recover their actual performance. It also identifies efforts
and recognize their potential to handle difficult situations. Communication between the team
members plays an important role because lack of communication leads to create the chances of
management crisis. By communicating, members will able to take better decisions which may be
helpful for the better successful plan of an organization(Vu, et.al.,2022).In the present time many
contemporary issues and complications are arising such as performance measures ,customer
service, politics and environment , employee turnover,conflicts and job dissatisfaction. These are
the some reason because of this companies decrease their productivity.

leadership.
For example, Walmart is one of the largest company in the world by revenue,
headquartered in Bentonville, Arkansas, US. Its product's price is cheaper than any other
competitors and the lowest price is hugely beneficial for peoples. These changes in various
factors affect overall performance of Walmart. But they have framed strategic management that
impacts organisational growth and functioning. The aim of management crisis is to reduce crisis
that arise due to external factors and change in government policies etc. There is imbalance in
working culture and environment at workplace affect the growth of grocery chain in UK.

It is very important for management to ensure safe and healthy environment for its
employees to avoid conflicts among them. Shackleton Leadership style is the most effective
strategic tool that help leaders to manage task and work to bring transparency in working culture.
It is crucial for company to give freedom to their employees and motivate them to reach for the
common goal. The management should ensure safe and healthy environment for its employees
to avoid conflicts among them. The risk cannot be managed effectively without a proper
planning for enhancing performance of organization. Technological factors include being able to
keep up technologically in the marketplace (Gutmann, 2018).. They need to be able to be better
than their competitors. Technological changes and innovative ideas are key to success for an
organisation as it helps the company to survive in marketplace by reducing all risk that may
threat their growth.
Management crisis helps Walmart to develop uncertainty recovery plan to avoid
undesirable act of employees and stakeholder into organization. Walmart not clearly define the
role and responsibilities to their employees which may lead them to dissatisfaction. This leads to
create confusion in them and affect their decisions in projects as well as their day to day
working. Management issues effects the growth of Walmart company. Internal environment of
organization should be positive in order to increase the efforts of employees. Whereas external
factors are reason of creating problem in the management to retain in the market for long run
(Duignan, P.A., 2020).This is main reason for losing the talented employees who have
specialised skills and knowledge to ensure growth of organisation.
RECOMMENDATIONS
 It has been suggested to the management and manager of Walmart, that they need to
modify their organisational culture and leadership style to avoid uncertainties and
dynamic business environment.
 They should also involve the employees in the process of decision making. The
organizational environment must be created friendly and positively that helps to bring
unity and peace between all members. It will also helpful in reducing chances of disputes
and conflicts among employees .

 They should provide training and skill development programme to enhancing creativity
and knowledge of members in the area of their interest. Management of the organization
requires to frame the business by establishing a link among organisation vision, plan and
mission to balance overall performance.
 Walmart must use resources in a most efficient way to overcome the challenges of
management crisis. It is important that management promotes healthy relations among
team leaders and members at workplace in order to perform better.
 Communication is must between the leaders and team members to know each other
issues , happiness, sorrows and feelings. It is important to praise members for their work
performance and encourage them to work well in organization.
 The organization should organize parties such as Christmas, birthday and new year
parties etc. These activities will help team members to create good bond with each other.
CONCLUSION
From this above report, it has been concluded that there are many contemporary issue that
affects management of an organisation as it involves external factors such as social, legal,
environmental, technology as well as high employment turnover, lack of communication , lack
of leadership skills etc. However, Shackleton style of leadership plays significant role to reduce
the impact of such crisis and ensure the growth of an organisation. It is very essential for
company to plan and take care of management of finance and investment to survive in
competitive market place. By taking help of a better leadership style and system the organization
will improve their performance in market. In this century management consist various barriers
that distracting leaders and mangers from achieving their goals and improving the performance
in an organizational work. It encourage the employees towards achievement of common goal
and also involves them in the process of decision making for successful growth of organisation.
Adoption of new technology and innovative ideas promote the higher growth and increase
productivity and efficiency of their employees. The Shackleton's leadership style boost up the
morale and confidence among team members. Therefore , it is important for the management to
view all these essential factors for maintaining business environment in an organization.
