INTRODUCTION
In every organisation the management play a very vital. All the organisation done their
operation very effectively by the help of management. The management handling process is
much difficult as well. In present scenario, the management is facing lots of issues in various
sector such as market condition, natural disaster, changes in the system or law and many other.
These factors affect the management of an organisation. the available resources of the company
are affected due to rapid changes within the environment, the company preference is changes as
per the new trend. Moreover, some laws as well as regulation may put an impact on the
management. In order to avoid all these factors an organisation may use introduce some effective
leadership style. The project report discussed the contemporary businesses crisis in an
organisation. The project report also discusses the organisation to manage the Shackleton
leadership style as it can be used in the management process of an organisation. the project
report also includes some recommendation point for better management process which can used
to improve the organisation performance.
MAIN BODY
In order to run an organisation, it is very crucial to develop a proper management process
which can be used to take care the organisation from all factors including external or internal.
Sometimes a well-developed management process can also be not used during all type of
situation. Therefore, an organisation should have to follow some effective leadership style which
may be used to influence the employees positively or can assist the manager in difficult situation.
As per the report, the Shackleton’s leadership style is used within the organisation in order to
lead a team member in such a manner so that they provide a motivation or courage to their
employee so that they enhance their performance. The Shackleton was a great leader, he led their
team in such a manner that they got chance to explore across the Antarctica. Hence, Shackleton
and his team also got a chance to explore Antarctica as well. As it was not an easy work for the
people who knew the surrounding of the country as their team people are aware about the
temperature range also (Abbas and et. al., 2021).
Even after knowing the whole situation their team member tries to explore the area. It was only
possible because of the team management and their leadership style. The Shackleton and their
team were the only first people who explore the Antarctic area with the best possible manner of
leading team. This activity become an example for the people to manage the team or the leader

style of Shackleton. Shackleton manage to explore the Antarctica with their team because of
great presence of mind or supporting nature to each other, they all work like a team and their
team member always followed their command or commitment as well. Shackleton know the
difficulties situation very well but still they fully motivated their member to accomplish their
target. He always keeps faith in his team and never left them in trouble as well. When he did not
able to use effective method or tools or flexible policies then the exploration with the team was
never gone easy. He set a benchmark for the whole organisation through this exploration. There
is an explanation that everything is possible when two communications can be used within the
team. The employees were satisfied with their leader style as they all feel motivated which can
enhance their performance. Shackleton always interacted with their team member on regular
basis to boost their morale or built their confidence. Shackleton believe in their team success.
The learning Shackleton management theory is best thing to adapt in the organisation in 21st
century. Introducing Shackleton management can be beneficial for an organisation as the people
work in team, there was no communication gap, their leader provide a superiority to them and
help each other to solve their problem internally as well. They create a such environment that
they all got excited to explore and always went to find clarity in their minds regarding their goal
or objectives (Amankwah-Amoah and et. al., 2021).
However, there are different contemporary management issues in 21st century like
environmental changes, technology advancement, team work lack, inadequate resources use,
communication gap in team and many other things which may affect the organisation
productivity as well as profitability. For better understanding about the contemporary
management issues of 21st century, Sainsbury is the British multinational company. An
organisation may deal with the groceries or it generally merchandise the retailer petrol, software
provider and many other things. The organisation expands their services to many sectors in the
United Kingdom. Hence, they also have many crises as well such as communication gap between
the staff, lacking leadership style and many other things. The huge responsibility may come with
great difficulties as well (Ball, 2018).
The organisation expands their business many sectors hence, they need better team working as
well as some management method to enhance profit in each sector. But they lack decision
making process as all the decision were taken by the manager or leader without involvement of
the team member. This process may demotivate the organisation employee’s because they are

not aware about the correct situation. They just followed the leader instruction so they diverted
from their path because they are not aware about the goal or the process. The leader just assigns
the task without providing them a proper brief over the task. It is not sufficient to have a advance
technology in the organisation as knowing proper handling to the fullest is important to increase
the productivity or profitability. The leader of Sainsbury organisation is also not aware about
their employees’ issues. They never show interest to understand their employees as this let the
employee’s morale down. It also put a bad impact on the organisation operation activity which
may decrease the productivity or profitability. Hence, the leader of Sainsbury organisation
should have to understand their employee’s situation as well as have to use different leadership
style to manage their team member. As the overall success of the organisation is basically
dependent on the team member or the employees (Burgelman and et. al., 2019).
RECOMMENDATION
To keep company's operations on track, maximize productivity, and increase profitability,
Sainsbury organization must significantly alter its management structure and leadership style.
They are advised to adopt the Shackleton leadership style, which they did during their trying
time. Like Shackleton, who provides their employees the flexibility to participate in decision-
making as well as the freedom to make their own decisions based on the circumstances. To
accomplish their task on time, a corporation like Sainsbury organization must implement the
Shackleton's policies. In addition to this, they can use such leadership style as well as teamwork
philosophy that inspires the employees as well as builds their self-confidence to help the
organisation reach its objectives. Similar to how Shackleton employs a variety of tools to explore
and overcome obstacles, Sainsbury organization may employ a variety of strategies to address
problems and, with the help of trained personnel and modern technology, can successfully
complete business operations (Cevik and Senturk, 2019).
In addition, they must give their employees greater or advanced the training that will help them
learn more and develop their ability to problem-solve. Furthermore, the business leader can
specifically apply the same techniques and policies that Shackleton used to encourage the
employees in the dangerous conditions of Antarctica, such as establishing development programs
and having conversations about the roles of the corporation. Moreover, it will inspire the staff to
fulfil their duties to the best of their abilities and meet the goal, just like the Shackleton team did
(Duda-Mikulin, 2019).

From the above discussed report, an organization within the twenty-first century generally deal
with a variety of modern management problems that impair their ability to function, such as
weak leadership, a lack of effective communication, etc. In addition, Shackleton's management
style served as an example for all businesses, large and small. It has been a source of motivation
for the leaders, but it has also served as a reminder to the staff to form good habits, take lessons
from the experience, and always follow orders. Furthermore, Sainsbury organization can teach
its leaders how to lead effectively by employing the Shackleton leadership style. Moreover, the
effective Shackleton leadership style can help an organization enhance both its operational and
management structures.
