CONTEMPORARY POLITICAL IDEOLOGIES1
Introduction
Liberalism as an ideology in America is recognised as a far reaching political perspective
positioned on what individuals view as inseparable authorities of people (Milbank & Pabst,
2016). The core liberal standards of freedom of speech, freedom of the media as well as self-
regulation of ethnicities and lastly rights and privileges to do procedure and equality under
the law have been greatly acknowledged across the array of liberal ideology. Caughey and
Warshaw (2016) have stated that liberalism as an ideology in the United States differ from
the idea of liberalism and its effect in other parts of the world. This kind of variance is
positioned because of the fact as the United States has always showed a lack of local
hereditary aristocracy and hence overlooked most of the class conflict which swept Europe.
The aim of the following paper is to evaluate the effects of liberalism on political and legal
actions of the USA as well as on the cultural patterns of the country.
Discussion
Effect of Liberalism on modern political decisions
Effect of liberalism on America's political actions US citizens in recent times are showing
great inclination towards a "big government". As per reports of Gilens and Page (2014) a
widely respected mechanism for measuring ships in ideological judgements across time the
electorate of the United States is highly considerate towards left-wing economic policy which
was not that significant in the past six decades. However, Hertel-Fernandez (2014) has
claimed that evaluating ideological shifts across decades is inherently challenging since a
number of policy think to question the lack of service as time passes while others enter them.
Furthermore, it has been noted that this is conspicuously evident on the grounds of social as
well as cultural policy where former US President Barack Obama's 2008 decision on gay
marriage would put to the right of a number of congressional republicans in 2019. Studies of
Pugh (2014) have revealed that the USA citizens newly developed enthusiasm in support of

left wing economic policy is not an appropriate outcome of unstable voters who have been
shifting their votes. Moreover, with an increasing number of conservative commentators
along with Republican politicians making populist opinion on economic policy it has been
noted that the GOP voters' views have been inclining towards the ideology of modern
liberalism. Meanwhile, Puhl et al. (2014) have claimed that despite the effect of liberalism
within public's opinions, the previous years have shown less degree of consequentialism in
comparison of the leftward drift in the economic thinking of the USA's elite policy over the
past decade. Modern liberalism has been experiencing a certain level of political siege in the
United States. Meanwhile, liberals have exhibited a certain degree of uncertainty related to
the proper implication and significance of this ideology. Comprehensive studies of Allen
(2018), the US constitution fragments political influence to an extent which has surpassed
most of the democratic countries.
Liberalism translate political discourse of the United States
One of the most pervasive uncertainties in modern American political discourse is the factors
which distinguish a progressive from a liberal. According to Sugg (2015), in a current issue
of the journal democracy, the liberals observed a lack of competence of capitalism which are
inclined towards resolving them and have significant success to their acknowledgement in the
New Deal, the Great Society and the New Frontier. However on the other hand, progressives
are highly anti-liberalism as they are hostile towards capitalism and tend to nurture the desire
that perhaps by means of certain catastrophic event the American capitalism will be
replaced by socialism. At this juncture, Hertel-Fernandez (2014) has noted that the
progressive in the United States are supporters of socialism in its real sense of total public
ownership of monetary resources industry as well as agriculture. Moreover Sugg (2015) has
claimed that progressives advocate in support of socialism which is certainly democratic
socialism along with the social welfare success of the American liberalism and Scandinavian
