Social issue can be defined as problems that affect many people within a society.
In regard to healthcare, it can be said that there are number of factors and issues that are
increasing health outcomes such as: covid-19 and Brexit.
This presentation is based on palliative care that is being provided to people who are suffering
from serious or chronic disease such as: cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

LO 1: Contemporary issues in health and social care sector
that can influence service improvement
In regard to palliative care, it can be said that it is a medical care for people who live with a
serious illness.
The main focus of this care on providing relief to people from the symptoms and stress of
serious illness.

It increased work load and increasing rate of getting affected with infectious disease lowers
immune of people who were suffering from chronic and serious disease.
Providing them emotional and clinical care became difficult and it decreased life expectancy
and this infectious affected health of people with chronic disease in a negative manner and to
the great extent.
So, on the basis of this, it can be said that covid-19 issue increased health risks on people with
serious disease.
