INTRODUCTION
Personal and professional development is defined as the lifelong learning process that consist
different activities that increase various skills, potentials, and capabilities that facilitates the
individual to gain employability as well as quality life. Different formal and informal
development activities that develop various personal and professional skills in an individual. In
this report concept of personal and professional development, short-term medium-term and long-
term goals as well as PDP plans are covered in this project report.
TASK
Personal and professional development
Personal and professional development is determined as the learning process that enhances
various personal as well as professional skills and competencies to meet all challenges and
facilitates to gain various defined goals and objectives effectively. There are various skills such
as time management, leadership skills, effective communication and decision-making skills that
help in attaining individual’s personal as well as professional objectives effectively and
efficiently. These skills help to attain all career goals and objectives (Ernst and Erickson, 2018).
Various training and development programmes help an individual in personal improvement
through attaining career objectives.
Description short-term goals and examples
Setting effective goals play important role in personal as well as professional development.
Short-term goals are defined as the planning of specific goals that an individual want to achieve
in near future within 3 to 5 months. When these short-term goals are achieved that motivates
individual to attain medium as well as long term goals. Short term goals are termed as the short
period or duration goals and objectives. Effectively completion of these goals motivates
individual and enhance morale to achieve long-term goals as well.
Short-term goals examples:
Improve reading and writing skills that help in achieving academic goals and objectives.
Learn time management and stress management skills.
Learn to speak in public as well as make effective presentation.

Description of medium-term goals and examples
Medium-term goals are defined as the specific goals and objectives that can be achieved in 6 to
12 months. These goals are work as a bridge to accomplish long-term goals in effective and
efficient manner. These goals must be relevant, specific, measurable and achievable that ensures
their proper accomplishment.
Medium-term goals examples:
Learn various management knowledge and skills.
Take different online courses that help to attain the goal of professional development.
My medium-term goal is to become the manager of specific department that enhance my
work experience as well.
Description long-term goals and examples
Long term goals are established that are achieved in future that are related to the career
development. Long-term goals are not achieved in tomorrow, next week or even next month as
well. These goals provide direction to attain all defined goals and objective of career
development. These goals take more to be accomplished in efficient manner (Grinkevich and
Shabanova, 2018). Accomplishment of long-term goals enhance confidence and morale of
individual to work more efficiently.
Long-term goals examples:
Starting new business in freelancer
Ensuring permanent client for at least five years
Completing graduation in Business Management from reputed University.
Description of a Personal Development Plan and construction of an example using my goals
Personal development plan: Personal development plan is defined as the process of developing
appropriate action plan that guides individuals to gain various skills and competencies in order to
develop own personality. There are various things are included such as proper statement of
career objectives and lifestyle priorities that facilitates to analyse all personal strengths and
weakness and work upon weakness to overcome them.
