AI Summary
This assignment delves into the core concepts of system analysis and design. It presents a detailed breakdown of different system components, including shippers, customers, suppliers, orders, and product information. Entities are defined with attributes, relationships are illustrated between them, and key processes like order creation and fulfillment are described. The document aims to illustrate how system analysis and design principles can be applied in a practical scenario.

Introduction
System development is the process of improving the features of the old system of the
company for making the new system. The three recent system development methodologies that are
adaptive in nature are Unified Process (UP), Extreme Programming and SCRUM. Adaptive System
development approach consists of three phases namely Analysis phase, Design phase and
implementation phase. These phases are implemented in the sub portion of the application which is
to be performed completely and the evaluation is to be made on it. The company called Comfort
Quilts plan concentrates on the sales of the silk eiderdowns through online for their private people.
The company concentrates mainly on the online purchase and transactions through online. The
adaptive system development methodology called Unified Process (UP) is recommended for the
Comforts Quilt Limited. The organizations either make use of the all three techniques in a mixed
way or it adapt anyone of the methodology for their business operations. The usage of this
methodology gets expanded within the organization for devloping the applications of the software.
Unified Process
Unified Process is a trend that is a wide variety of devices of the consumer which has the
computing capabilities called camera, laptop, tablet, gaming instruments and all other household
appliances. For developing an information system, these computing devices support all the
applications of the customer and the applications of the browser. The Unified Process (UP) is an
object oriented approach for developing the system. The Unified Process is a methodology that
make use of the Unified Model Language diagrams for modeling the system and for describing a
new system that is a adaptive approach for system development (www.tutorialspoint.com, 2017).
The Unified Process is defined as an detailed set of actions and the deliverables are achieved in
each and every step of the process of development (Satzinger, Jackson and Burd, n.d.).
Phases of the Unified Process
The Unified Process life cycle consists of four phases as follows
Inception
Elaboration
Construction
Transition
Each and every phase of the life cycle of the Unified Process clearly describes the goals of the
members of the project team and the activities of the team. Thus all the phases of the Unified
Process gives the framework to plan and for tracking the project over certain period of time. In
Document Page
every phase of the cycle, more number of iterations are planned to provide flexibility to the team
members of the project for adjusting the problems or changing the conditions of the project (Scott,
2017).
The Unified Process development life cycle is represented in the above diagram which
represents the four phases of the UP development cycle (Sangiovanni-Vincentelli, 2008). The
objectives of each phase is explained below (Satzinger, Jackson and Burd, n.d.).
Objective of the Inception
To develop an approximate aim of the system.
To make the business case of the system.
To describe the scope of the system.
To estimate rough cost and rough schedule of the project (Satzinger, Jackson and Burd,
n.d.).
Objective of the Elaboration
This phase is responsible for the iteration.
The objective of this phase is to define the vision of the system.
To find and make description of all the requirements.
To make finalization on the objective.
To implement the core architecture and the functions of the system.
When there occur any risk in the cycle, the resolutions for solving the risks are proposed.
To estimate the rough cost and rough schedule of the system (Satzinger, Jackson and Burd,
n.d.).
Objectives of the Construction Phase
The higher risks are resolved in the Elaboration phase. So the lower risks are implemented
iteratively in this phase.
This phase predicts the system and it is the deployment phase of the life cycle (Satzinger,
Jackson and Burd, n.d.).
Objectives of the Transition Phase
To perform the testing caled "Beta Test" and deployment is being implemented in this phase.

The users get a full real working system and they gets the expected benefits of the system
after the completion of this phase (Satzinger, Jackson and Burd, n.d.).
Disciplines of the Unified Process
The four phases of the Unified Process is used to describe the project in a sequential way by
specifying the goals of the team members of the project during the any time of the project's
life cycle. The discipline of the Unified Process includes the process of modeling the
business, Analysing the requirements, designing the system and the implementation of the
system. After implementing the system, the testing process is carried out and then the
deployment of the system takes place. Then the configuration, change and project is
managed. The Environment of the system is designed ultimately (Larsson and Sugasawa,
2007). The pictorial representation of the disciplines of the UP is represented below.

their business operations. This methodology is found to be suitable as it focuses on the computing
devices like camera, laptops and other home appliances. The Practices of the Unified Process and
the phases that are in the Unified Process Life cycle are being discussed. All the four phases of the
UP are explained in detail. The necessary diagrams like usecase diagrams, class diagrams which is
based on the domain and design are being drawn in this report. The UML diagrams in this report
specifies all the process and operations of the company in detail and it is easily understandable by
the customers. The Unified Process does not lead to any ceremony as compared to other two
methodologies of developing the system.
