INTRODUCTION
Greetings everyone, my name is Shruti Dusi, Student id 217607481. I am currently pursuing my
Master’s in Health and Human services with a business major. The current unit which I am
pursuing is Business Communication for Managers. This unit has taught me to develop learning
and communication skill. Taught me to deliver the speech in the audience, and it also needs great
emotional intelligence, team and group work and the use of intercultural communication. The
Organisational development of modern age requires different business strategies like reliability,
sustainability, and affordability.
The choice of company is Woolworth group, an Australian company operating in most areas in
New Zealand and Australia with more than 3000 stores. Woolworth limited is seeking to
introduce sudden cardiac arrest first-aid across its supermarkets in almost 500 stores countrywide
in Australia. The first-aid kit Automated External Defibrillators (AED) is intended to secure the
shoppers in case of a sudden cardiac arrest. The introduction of the AED needs to be
communicated to all stakeholders of the company consisting of suppliers, employees,
shareholders, the government, and customers through the selected modes of communication. The
communication channels are a press release and multimedia presentation.

PRESS RELEASE:
Woolworth offers quality and fresh foods to the consumers in their retail stores. Through
innovative ways of production, it offers addition of value to the food products to its regular
customer. Woolworth adds fresh vegetable and fruits to its retail stores through farming it the
backyard. Woolworth also collect fresh meat supplies from the Australian farms, making it one
of the significant dominant grocery retailers in the Australian industry.
Woolworth values the contributions of the stakeholders in enhancing sustainable growth.
Woolworth stakeholders includes suppliers, employees, shareholders, the government,
customers, unions, media, and franchisees Other stakeholders include, the community interest
groups, business organizations, and other non-governmental organizations all having an interest
in the activities of the company. The occurrence of cardiac arrest among shoppers in Woolworth
cannot be overlooked. In a move to secure the health status of our customers, Woolworth seeks
to roll out automated external defibrillators (AED) in all its stores across the country. The
devastating outcome of cardiac arrest in damaging on the future health status of the individual is
eminent. Therefore, Woolworth seeks to install the AED especially on the rural and regional
communities’ areas where access to the medical site is cumbersome. To achieve this noble task,
Woolworth will offer training on it’s staff on the use of defibrillators. Through training and
coaching of staff, first aid to cardiac arrest victims will successful be administered. The strategy
to install defibrillators is based on our responsibility to protect the shoppers from unpreceded
heart problems.
Stakeholders of media presentation:
Stakeholders have an interest in the activities of a company. Any effect of the stakeholders
directly affects the actions of the business. Thus, the engagement on the welfare of the
stakeholders helps Woolworths focus and recognize the fundamental problems facing the
stakeholders in the social, environmental, and economic environment. Therefore, the media
stakeholders should be updated with the required documents like project newsletter, community
update, fact sheets, letters, etc.
Woolworth, through a partnership with the first work health and safety product provider in
Australia, wish to install defibrillators on a mass scale in its stores across Australia. The strategy
to install defibrillators first-aid kit is aimed to improve customer relations in the company. Many

people suffer from sudden cardiac arrest. Therefore, a move to secure the stores from such
emergency issues will also improve the stakeholder's confidence on the management of the
company. The strategy is an initiative which the government being concern with the health of its
citizen will encourage its support towards the realization of this goal. Equipped stores with AED
is seen to increase the traffic of shoppers, which increase revenue generation to the company.
Though the company installation of defibrillators intention is merely to address significant
concerns of heart failure due to lack of first-aid emergency kit, the strategy in itself is seen to
increase the market share of the company. Over the past decades, the company has been so keen
on providing quality and healthy fresh farm products to its customers. Therefore, this move will
act as a supplement to address the health issues of the customers.
REFLECTION:
Corporate business communication course has guided me in understanding the different forms of
business communications channels that are available for organizations. Moreover, the criteria of
choice of the different methods of media outreach to the target audience are also crucial in
addressing their expectations. While writing the press release, I realized the need for
communicating companies’ strategies to the stakeholders. I understood that once stakeholders
understand the good intentions of the company affiliated to them to safeguard their interest, their
expectations are exceeded.
The press release and the media presentation by Woolworth were intended to pass the new
information on the installation of AEDs across all its retail stores in Australia in order to
safeguard their customers and other stakeholders against sudden cardiac arrest during shopping. I
have been in a position to understand the critical role of stakeholders in the overall performance
of the firm. Since the firm does not exist in a vacuum, it is equally important to draw their
attention to many social, health, and economic problems affecting them. Customers are crucial to
the existence of Woolworth. Therefore, their safety is essential to the management of the firm.
The experience of writing the press release and the media presentation has improved my
communication skills and understanding the importance of communicating the firm’s strategies
to the relevant stakeholders.
The media presentation, on the other hand, has improved my public speaking and presentation
skills. I can speak to a vast multitude without stage fright and convince the audience on the
