Introduction to Vancouver Convention center; a perfect venue for
biking event
The Vancouver convention center is one of the largest centers in the
middle of the city that holds multiple types of events. The range of
offerings includes meeting rooms, exhibition centers, ball rooms and out
door plazas. The center is very unique in a way that it encourages use of
sustainable materials for décor and deploys sustainable practices during
the events. The center has been built across a large area, imbibed with
next generation technology.
In my opinion, the use of sea water for
heating and cooling purpose at the center is the most valuable
aspect as it saves huge amount of pure water which could be
used for drinking purposes. Another valuable aspect for the
center is environmental sustainability.
Advantage: This center is very near to the most populous area of
Vancouver. Moreover, there are multiple hotels and motels around the
center.
 Hence, the people who stay near (more than 2 million) can easily
reach the center and people coming from other cities can stay at
nearby hotels to have easy access.
 Greater participation in the event is the prime objective
of this event, not only for revenue generation for our
company but also to promote biking and cycling for
health purposes. Hence, looking at the capacity of the center,
location and facilities, we should go ahead with Vancouver
center for our biking and cycling event.

Vancouver Convention center has excellent
rain water harvesting
facilities. It helps to save water during rainy seasons and use
during other seasonsfor drinking purposes. Moreover,
usage of sea
water pump system for cooling and heating purposes also saves a

huge amount of pure waterand thereby facilitates sustainable

1. The Vancouver convention center is an energy efficient
building. It is Certified LEED® Canada Platinum center. It uses
motion sensors and light sensors to dim or switch of lights
automatically during morning time.It

1. They have
special parking for bikers and cyclers and
through this, they promote usage of renewable
resources and avoid usage of fuelto commute to the
center; this would be beneficial for our event.
2. They
recycle glass, aluminum cans, steel cans, paper,
card board and e-wastewhich helps to save the
environment from unnecessary pollution.
3. The artificial
roof is designed in a way that it helps to
insulate from heat during summers and cold during
winters. The roof also breeds honey bees and the honey is
used in a unique concept of the center known as the ‘scratch
kitchen’
4. They have
low flush toilets and advanced drainage
system to reduce the use of water and recollect the
used waterfor reuse.
5. The Vancouver convention center has a
Natural ventilation
system which helps to reduce air pollution and keeps
the surrounding air cleaner.
