Introduction
The Cookie organization is essentially a chain store which makes Cookies and they have
positioned their business in various part of the country. Nonetheless, recently they have
become frustrated from the aspect of the slow data networks connectivity issue, along with the
unreliable voice calls due to the issue in their network that has been a challenge to the
employees and the staff of the organization (Agrawal and Zeng, 2015). This enterprise they are
seeking on the fresh design particularly on their IT infrastructure on the networking aspect for
their functions of the business to enable them to grow significantly. This report intends to
provide some solution to this issues which is affecting them and recommendations on the
network infrastructure which they will adopt.
a) The network infrastructure
The network infrastructure focus on the hardware and the software resources for the overall
network which enable the network connectivity, communication, operations as well as the
management of a given enterprise network (Agrawal and Zeng, 2015). Moreover, this also
provides the path for the communication and services between the users, processes, services
and the external networks.
i) The network convergence and the unified communication.
The communication which exists between the computers depends entirely on the working of
the infrastructure of the network. Unified communication comprise of hardware such as
network switches and plug network cables and they are connected together to the computers
(Dacier, Dietrich, Kargl and König, 2017). In this organization they will utilize the Wi-Fi system
which will cover all part of the organization particularly the department to enable them to
access on the internet. The use of this technology will be beneficial to the operation of the
business along with satisfying the customers (Vasilakos, Zhang and Spyropoulos, 2016). The
business would benefit from the streamlined network to enable them to communicate much
effectively (Rainer, Prince and Watson, 2014). Moreover, the customers will be able to make
their voice calls and raise issue when it comes to the services and the product they want from
the company.
ii) LAN types and cabling plan for the head office and branches
The LAN network is the overall system which connect different computers particularly in the
office. The local area network comprise all the computers as well as other devices that are
linked to the local domain servers. When it comes to the LAN network for this organization
there would be a logical structure diagram that is drafted to show how the network would be
aligned (Curwen and Whalley, 2014). The LAN shows the various approaches of the
communication employed as well as the arrangement of the network to the business business
(Dacier, Dietrich, Kargl and König, 2017). This technology would be significant to the head office
as well as the branch office since it would help them to connect the computers together which
will enable the workers to connective efficiently to the head office and the business along with
other business processes.

Having a branch office in a given region could be significantly important and an effective way in
which the customers could raise their issues (Palo and Tähtinen, 2013). Therefore, to connect
this branch to head office they need an internet connection which is dedicated Curwen and
Whalley, 2014). They could achieve this through a WAN service would will use a 3G wireless
service and an Ethernet. To be able to achieve this the organization would need a WAN service
to both the branch office and the head office through the use of the aggregated routers that
are more located to their data centers as well as the site within the business.
iv) Transmission media and connecting devices
These will be the path to that will be used in connecting of the devices for example the
computers and personal networks. The devices which will be used will be wireless such as the
digital satellite business (Dacier, Dietrich, Kargl and König, 2017). The use of the transmission
media will be significant to the business operation since it is likely to be much faster as well as
less costly as compared to the deployment of the cables, which may be very costly or even
perhaps there infrastructure is limited. Additionally, the use of the wireless transmission there
would be reduced rates of the data to both the communications at the branch office along with
the head office.
v) IP and DNS management
The DNS service usually translate to the domain names into the IP address. The DNS helps in
the management of the website for the organization. The DNS helps in translating of the DNS
services to the appropriate IP address (Palo and Tähtinen, 2013). When Cookie Company uses
this new technology infrastructure it will manage their website and be able to take the
responsibility for the domain name, as well as ensure the kind of the clients who visit their
domain. This would be benefit to the customer as well as the operation of the business (Dacier,
Dietrich, Kargl and König, 2017). The customer would access the company website and easily
make an order on the items they want. This ensures that there is effective communication
between the customers and the enterprise. The company will also benefit in that they will deal
with the inquiries of the customers quickly (Tate, Beck, Ibarra, Kumaravel and Miklas, 2016).
DNS management helps in dealing with all the DNS issues so as to render all the requirements
of the customers.
b) Networked Services
Cookie Co. intends to implement various networking technologies to their network services
they are the Extranet, intranet, use of the email and the VOIP.
i) Extranet
This is a private network which utilize the internet technology as well as the public
telecommunication system to securely share on the part of the business data or even the
operations with the vendors, partners, suppliers as well as client (Magboul, Chew and Raman,
2016). The extranet could be regarded as the part of the organization intranet which is
extended to the users who are outside the organization (Curwen and Whalley, 2014). This
technology provide benefit to the organization as well as satisfaction of the customers. It would

assist the customers in accessing the services and product they want from Cookie Company. On
the benefit to the business it will enable them to collaborate between the regional branches
and the head office (Loo, Mauri and Ortiz, 2016). This entity transmit huge volume of data
through electronic means, therefore this technology will play a big part in the exchange.
ii) VOIP
This technology stand for voice over the internet protocol. It is a more effective alternative
means of making voice calls at no cost. The Cookie Co. issues on the undependable voice calls
are caused by the network issue and the use of this technology will help in addressing on this
issue since the customer will efficiently raise on their concern on a given service or even
product (Bernardos, Oliva, Serrano, 2014). The technology would be beneficial to the business
and the satisfaction of the customers. To the part of the organization the use of this technology
will help reduce on the cost of the communication and on the part of the customers they would
effective address on their issue as the system is efficient.
iii) Email

between people through the electronic means. The emails are useful since the organization is
able to utilize this technology all across the networks that they are connected to internet
(Agrawal and Zeng, 2015. The usage of this technology will be beneficial to the operation of the
head office as well as the branches through the reduction of the barriers associated to the
geographical aspect of the business since they will be able to communicate effectively despite
the distant (Curwen and Whalley, 2014). Moreover, the use of the email it is a lower cost means
of communicating even to the customers when they want to raise a given issue to the business.
iv) intranet
This is the private network that is accessed by only the workers within the business. In the
organization there is a lot of data which should not be accessible to the external parties
(Curwen and Whalley, 2014). The use of the intranet would be beneficial to the processes of
the business since it is the initial point to which the business communicate and forms
collaboration between the head office and the regional branches.
